@AdamSchefter

Filed to ESPN (1): Denver and Jets have encountered hangup in language in Tim Tebow's contract that could nullify trade.

(2) If the Tebow trade to Jets falls apart, St. Louis could wind up getting back into play. Sides sorting through details.

Priceless. LOL

I'd love to know what this "clause" is that would be a deal breaker for NY, but would be acceptable to St Louis. Something fishy here.

Tim Tebow has $5 million worth of recapture language, meaning Jets would have to pay back money to Denver. Jets might be unwilling. Complex.

Strange. Why would something like that even be in a contract? I could understand if the money was supposed to go to the player so he could have some control over being traded, but the team? If the Broncos really wanted the trade to go down, then they could easily just axe that part of the contract and eat the $5 mil.

Bowlen's cards are all maxed out at the moment.

He thinks he got a Discover App in the mail the other day though, but it might take a day or two to sort that out. :)

Exactly. I doubt if anyone is going to be willing to give us $5 million, so they might as well just wave that part of the contract. Otherwise, we'd just have to release him and eat the $5 million anyway.

The same money issues in Tim Tebow's contract caused complications for Jacksonville trying to complete trade. Now Jets facing them.

Per Schefter

It seems as though the Jags were trying to get him as well

I hadn't even seen anything saying St louis was involved before. Maybe Elway was offering to give them back their 5th if they'd take Tebow.

so the contract has some protections in it for Tebow to not get traded....without a price.

Maybe he will be here anyway...solves the zero backups problem .

but Elway wants him GONE.....Gone....gone......

They are probably trying to get Denver to give back a pick to comp them for the 5 mil or something.

Hang up with the deal Jets for Tebow would be the same hangup the Jags or Rams would have None of those teams would pay back money to Den

So instead of getting a 4th and a 6th ....we get nothing, because no one will do this deal.

hope theres a way we can fix this

Jets-Broncos agreed to Tim Tebow trade before Denver asked NY to pay back portion of bonuses and salary already paid to Tebow. No deal yet.

Only if they signed off on Timmy's contract. If the negotiations were over the phone (likely) this wouldn't have come up until they actually saw Timmy's contract.

If it didn't get mentioned during negotiations, that would be on the Broncos.
