Never even heard of the guy until we signed him last year. He's only going to see the field on goal line packages...he was our starter! Easy to see why we got killed against legit teams with out any injuries.

wtf kind of sense does that make for him? he'd be behind two other guys potentially and has no shot at a starting job. he might play quite a bit in that offense but damn.

Just because you have never heard of him does not affect how well he plays. He was solid and was not in any way a weak link. He was also a starter for St Louis the Year before. He is a better blocker than receiver.

He was a solid contributor. Nothing to write home about but also nothing to condemn.

Jim Miller on Sirius was speaking very highly of Fell's athleticism (and it was briefly displayed in the game @ Miami with that crazy diving catch to the 4 yard line) but also mentioned how Fells has never quite lived up to his skill set. But will he even see the field in New England if there are no injuries?

Tebow + Fells to New England = Super Bowl

I forgot about the mCd/Lloyd connection already! CiDtL!

I thought Fells was ok, didn't know he was an FA we have so freaking many.

OMG that was the best reply of the day. Very weak grammar but we get your point.

Has he gotten any other offers? I haven't seen any report of us talking to him. Agreed that on the surface it doesn't seem to give him much of an opportunity for playing time, but New England doesn't have a legit vet fullback on their roster-- they may well intend to use him as a blocking H-back as well as a depth tight end. In any case, being a backup for a Super Bowl contender probably beats sitting on the market waiting for an offer.

The guy's clearly no star, but I wish we'd retain him. We basically have nothing else at the position besides a raw pair of redshirt sophomores, and the FA market's not exactly flush with talent at the position. Nor is the draft, and we can't really afford another pick there with all our other holes anyway. Like Royal, it's not a big loss, but it is another spot in the lineup where we're basically looking at either drafting or effectively downgrading if we don't get our ass into the free agent market pretty soon.

Damn. If twenty million was the entire FA budget the old geezer authorized, we shouldn't be chasing Manning in the first place. Either get him to squeeze out a little more, or divvy up what we have and get to work before the second tier of FAs completely dries up. Yea, I'm not holding my breath.

I am pretty stoked about the possibility of watching Mays and Goodman start for another year, though. Thanks a lot, you cheap ****s!

Fells a pretty good blocker, all around player, just the sort NE likes for depth. But he could just be seeing what his market is. I hope that is what Bunkley is doing.

He is/was average at best. Good teams like the Pats would have him as their back up. That is how most of our roster is. You put most guys on our team on the Packers, Pats etc and they're back ups. It's not like we're going to be affected at all by him going to another team.

10:43 am Daniel Fells will be joining Brandon Lloyd with the Patriots. Mike Klis says it's a three-year deal worth about $3M per and calls it "a blow." Fells was targeted 30 times in 2011; 14 times in nine games once Tim Tebow took over as the starter. This, after having caught 41 passes in 2010 with the Rams on 56 targets.

so that leaves us with the 2 projects at TE? wow...we really need a TE badly! Have we even been rumored to a TE at all?

FO is praying Manning will come here and WAITING on everything...meanwhile what limited talent we DO have is leaving and other teams in the West and elsewhere are signing all the real talent...

Bunkley still in NO ....rumor is he'll sign there.

IDJITS are running the Broncos ship!

Retards.

Now we need a starting NT, WR, TE, and FB. Looks like they plan on starting these guys:

NT - Ty Warren (see if he can last a week)
WR - Eric Decker (ball dropper)
TE - Virgil Green (3 total NFL catches)
FB - Spencer Larsen (probable, what a weapon)

Why on earth would you sign a 2 down backup LB to $4M per year?

Odd signing IMO. I don't see how this guy even sees the field in NE.

NE with Lloyd deep and a 3TE set of Gronk, Hernandez and Fells, ?

Terror for Secondarys.

Our best TE is now gone, and we are worse for it. We now have no pass catching TE at all.

Probably depth for Gronk. Wasn't Gronk labeled as an injury risk before the draft?

Yeah because of a back injury, hes never had any problems with his back since being in NE, this is purely for no huddle so we can get 3 TE's on the field, get their run stuffing personnel on and flank Gronk and Hernandez out as WR and run the no huddle, now we've got a 3rd guy who can also catch passes.
