Both of our SB teams have made it to the 2nd round...how are we getting screwed? Also, in the first round, why is the 98 Vikings listed?

Really?

I noticed that a lot of other teams also have their teams playing their own team from a differnt year.

Guess its just the brackets, but they could have been more creative and mixed it up. guarantees that some good teams get eliminated without a chance to progress

yea the Ravens went several games that year without scoring a single touchdown... Get real, Broncos should have made 4 superbowls in a row with that team. Jacksonville choke, superbowl, superbowl, Elway retires, or it could have been superbowl, superbowl, superbowl, superbowl.

Their defense was ****ing insane.

That said, I still think our 98 team would win.

I don't see us coming back when they're up 62 - 38 =/

"Sharpe aside, here's the issue for Denver: Terrell Davis could eat it. Migraine or no migraine, he's not getting jack on the triangle of Tony Siragusa, Sam Adams and Ray Lewis. So it becomes John Elway's game to win. By Super Bowl XXXVIII, in his 16th year, he had become such a smart player that he knew where to go with the football, but still had the guts of a 26-year-old Elway. Broncos receivers Rod Smith and Ed McCaffrey versus Chris McAlister and Duane Starks of Baltimore might be the matchup that decides the game.

The Ravens would be able to move the ball on Denver. Trent Dilfer, despite not being great, could make plays on a so-so Denver secondary ... possibly staking them an early lead. But would Elway let them keep it? "

The ****ing writer basically says...Balt wins.

Funny stuff.

If I had to guess, this is going to turn out either 00 Ravens or 89 49ers vs 85 Bears.

98 Broncos and 00 Ravens would be one of the greatest games ever. it would be an epic battle of elite defense taking on elite offense. i think the Broncos would take it though. with the Ravens more than likely focusing attention on stopping TD, Elway has a field day hitting receivers in single coverage.

I would like to think the Broncos would win, too. I'm just laughing at the homers who think it wouldn't be a contest.

My take:

Ravens on offense - They would start up the run with OROY runner-up Jamal Lewis. Sharpe as an outlet for Dilfer along with Priest Holmes as an adequate 3DRB and outlet would be able to convert some of the third and longs they'd have, and eventually wear down the Broncos defense to be able to score late if needed.

Broncos on offense - Smaller offensive line would have a tough time pushing the big Baltimore DTs around and would have to rely on Shannon Sharpe and Smith or McCaffrey to make some key 3rd down catches to move the ball, however Chris McAlister eventually turned out to be an All-Pro and Duane Starks was made better with Super Rod Woodson back there. He was Ed Reed before Ed Reed was Ed Reed.

Special Teams - Elam's better than Stover, Richardson is better than Rouen. Jermaine Lewis and Corey Harris had 2 return TDs that year, Hebron and Gordon had 1.

Coaching - Shanahan is better than Billick, Marvin Lewis is better than...Greg Robinson? Kubiak is better than...whoever that guy was.

The teams are very similar talent-wise, because that's what a defense like that does for you. It allows you to win a Super Bowl with TRENT ****ING DILFER. This would be a very close (fake, hypothetical, etc) game.

LOL ok.

Still in a cranky mood after yet another blown tourney, eh? Denver played a Superbowl Champion schedule in '98. The Ratbirds were 6-4 at one point in 2000 (finished 12-4 feasting on several sub 500 teams down the stretch) playing in the former AFC Central division where the Tennesee Titans were the Division winners. They could not score points to save their life. In 2001, (with the Ratbirds as defending Superbowl Champs) they beat us an astounding 20-13. If you think that Shanny with John, TD, Shannon, and one of the best offensive lines ever (2k running back without playing the equivalent of 2 games) wouldn't have hung more points on them than that....wow, just wow. :oyvey:

Sorry, I can't even come up with that one win. Honestly the '98 team would hang an average of 24 points on that '00 team. In the third game of 2001 the Ratbirds came into Denver and beat us 20-13.....that was with Griese and we turned the ball over 3 times.......no way the 98 team doesn't win all 10.

I remember when Shannon Sharpe had that long TD against Denver in the wildcard game. That was like half of Baltimore's team receiving yards on that one play. There's no way they could have beat the '98 Broncos. It's a wildcard team vs one of the few teams that's still perfect late in the season. I already gave my analysis. Our offense, while great, isn't top 5 all-time. Their defense is top 2 all-time. Great defense > great offense. That alone makes it a close game. I already said I'd like to see the Broncos win that game. I'd like to think that our defense would be good enough to win the game for us, but anyone who says it wouldn't be close doesn't know football, is a homer, or never saw that Ravens defense play. I voted like 50 times...must be a **** ton of votes cause its still stuck on 51-49 in the Ravens favor.

Maybe it's because some d***head stay at home dad Broncos fan with nothing but time on his hands all day long keeps voting for the Ravens to cancel everyone else's votes out.

This poster reads the thread.

Well, I did not want to read all 5 pages of this thread and maybe not find the answer. When in fact after your post I was given the answer. See I am smarter than you obviously.

It's prolly rigged anyway...Ravens D was insane but their O was as bad as their D was good. Dilfer was terrible! Our O would put up at least 17. They had a pretty easy schedule...only decent teams the played were Tennessee and Jax.

Still don't think they beat our 98 Broncos...our D was good enough to keep Difler from putting up more than 14 on us. Everyone forgets who the QB's were i guess (people voting). Elway >>>> Dilfer, all i need to know. Their only chance to win would be forcing us to turn the ball over. Best QB the faced all that year was McNair, pretty good but still not close to John Elway!

Ravens win.

It's been 51-49 for the last two days. They prob capped it.

99 Rams were able to come back a huge deficit vs the Raiders to win. So at least that was nice to see.

I already gave my analysis. Our offense, while great, isn't top 5 all-time.

Err...they're actually arguably the best of all time, at least in terms of balance. If you are talking about points per game, then no, but points per game is only one aspect of an offense. Denver's offense is very possibly the most balanced of all time, and is almost certainly the best of all-time in terms of time of possession. That Ravens defense is not outright better than that Broncos offense (they're very evenly matched overall). On the other hand, that Broncos defense was far better than that Ravens offense. In a series of ten games the Broncos win six or seven. Period.

We allowed less than 11 points per game that year in the playoffs, and the Ravens had a crappy offense that barely scored more than their defense in the playoffs as I recall. Like you said, the only they win is if they can force lots of turnovers. They were very good at that admittedly, but I don't think that's as likely as the Broncos just lining up and being the better team (which they were).

98 Broncos vs 2000 suck ass ratbirds ........Broncos....... TD if he wasnt benched in the second half of alot of games that year , He destroys Eric Dickersons record ..... Ratbirds dont stop him , he scores , controls the clock

The differential between our (decent) defense and their (terrible)offense was greater than the differential between our (world class) offense and their (world class) defense.

We were the more balanced team, but their defense was special. I think we'd win 6 out of 10.
