If Manning wins the World Series there, we'll know the fix is in.

I find it interesting that the Giants are now automatically deep in the playoffs or in the super bowl. Did the Packers, 49ers and Saints (or Lions/Bears/Falcons) forfeit this next season?

Titans were 1 win from a WC spot, we back into the division but manage to win a PF game, and SF is one mistake away from last years SB with the best D and lots of youth.

If it were me, I would get the millions endorsing and go win a couple SB's with San Fran to cement my place as the top 3 best QB's of all time and go out on top.

Maybe he doesn't want to knock his Bro out of the SB?

With peyton its a clean sweep. You are crazy if you think that series goes 5 games

Giants are the NFL kings right now and because of that deserve respect. They are yhe champs until some other team taked it from them.

Still want someone to tell me HOW the niners sign him without having a fire sale this year or next.

I was saying before the superbowl they should sign him and go 19-0

this is Manning driving up the price. Harbaugh letting Manning call his offense? Right.

Giants Saints, Green Bay, Atlanta, Chicago/Dallas/Detroit.

Playing in the NFC isn't nearly as condusive to making the S.B. as playing in the AFC where you will probably see N.E, Pitt, Balt, Hou, Cinci/Tenn/S.D.

I wonder which one looks easier on paper.

The niners were a fumble away from the sb.

I said before I would choose them if I were manning and the fact that they haven't signed smith yet is key. Money, they can find a way to get him a contract and if its a sb he wants then money isn't going to be that big of an issue.

I don't disagree, but just as devil advocate. He did let Andrew luck do it for two years.

The only reason I'm interested is to see if he plays in the field on non-pitching days.

About the 49ers, i cant believe people still fall for this just sign free agents and win Superbowls, didn't everyone say the Packers were sure to repeat this year?

The 2007 Patriots had Moss in his prime, the 4th ranked scoring defense and an offense averaging 36.8 points a game and didn't win.

Randy Moss is done, how many people does Bill Belichick cut that go on to produce anything?

The NFL playoffs has turned into the ultimate crapshoot, everyone knows the best team doesn't always win, freaky plays and bad mistakes and being hot at the right time now decide Superbowls.

so you are saying that because there is no 100% guarantee on a super bowl win that a team with a shot should not attempt to improve themselves. solid logic.

I don't believe Randy Moss improves the 49ers at all, he was horrible for the few games he played for the Patriots in 2010, looked old, slow and done, got traded to Minnesota and blew that team up and got cut and picked up by the Titans and did nothing there, then he didn't play football at all last year and almost 2 years later you're expecting the Randy Moss of old?

Randy Moss is just a name, i loved the guy, Brady to Moss for 3 years was the best connection in the NFL but hes done, he hasn't got it anymore and as for Manning he has won 1 Superbowl and has a 9-10 playoff record and is now almost 36 coming off 4 neck surgeries how can you realistically expect him to be as good as he was?

Its delusion to believe that Peyton Manning is just going to roll up and deliver a Superbowl.

So you spend the whole post talking about Randy Moss (for the record, I disagree: Randy Moss is the biggest athletic freak in the history of the NFL, it doesn't just completely go away at 35) only to conclude that Peyton Manning isn't worth it. The Niners finished 13-3 and blew the NFCCG in the last five minutes. Alex Smith was their QB. They haven't lost anyone in FA, and they're adding receivers. You're trying to tell me Manning isn't the piece they need? Sure, they might lose anyway. They also might win 3 in a row.

The team will have to totally change though, they will be passing more, their defense will be spending alot more time on the field i mean how often have we seen a top 5 defense return only to stink it up the next year especially one that relies on the turnover, you are just assuming they will stay dominant on defense.

extralife
03-16-2012, 08:48 PM
No, I don't assume they will stay dominant on defense. That's exactly why they should get Manning. If the defense isn't exactly as good next year as this year, they can't win with Alex Smith. The QB gives you the chance to compete every year. When you're already competing with a ****ty QB, that's a good sign.

The 49er offense had the ball on avg 28:29 per game last year. In 2010 the Colts avg 29:54 per game. With Manning I don't think the 49er defense will be on the field any longer than last year.
