Anyone who has played organized sports at one time or another can relate to having to run laps....there was a time in this country when if a coach disciplined a player that player's parent would help in disciplining the child, not attack the coach.

"An Indiana father is facing serious charges after launching a brutal attack on his daughter's assistant middle school basketball coach for the coach's implementation of an incredibly simple and traditional practice: He made her run laps in the gym."

I'm going to have to call my dad out on this when I get off work. He never once punched a coach for making me run laps. I feel so unloved.

The guy's name is Shelly. Did you expect a guy with a girl's name NOT to overcompensate by attacking a coach?

Wish I could have knocked out my gym teacher from elementary. One of those fat guys who barks orders. Kudos to that father.

My youngest plays coaches pitch baseball (ages 7 and 8). They make them run laps if they screw up or screw around.

In that case... what a pussy.

Isn't like 40 repetitions across a basketball court like 1 mile? I remember conditioning in the Dakota Ridge basketball court, and it seemed like that.

One mile is nothing. I did 10k's (about 6 miles) almost every day as part of my PT in the military.

This is more about the father's pride than abuse of his daughter.

My football coach made us run the bleachers and I always felt like he was an ass until I noticed the wresting coach made them run the bleachers carrying each other piggyback.

The one lady...

Journalist: "He's being tried for punching a guy in the face... did he?"
Lady in the Blackhawks hat: ""What? Was he not supposed to?"

I coach my kid's teams. I realize that a lot of the kids play different sports. I also realize that they get a lot of conditioning in with their other sports. If a parent comes up to me and says their kid ran a lot over the weekend in a soccer tournament or something and their legs are sore, I won't run them. And if I did, I would expect a parent to call me on it... Not punch me in the face, obviously over the top there.
