NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports the Titans and Broncos are interested in free agent DE John Abraham. The Titans' interest has been known for two days, but the Broncos had yet to be connected to the four-time Pro Bowler. The Falcons are reportedly "still working on a new deal" for Abraham, which could prevent him from leaving town as Denver and Tennessee wait on Peyton Manning. VIA : Jason La Canfora on Twitter

I heard he's waiting to "push the button" on "something big". Been waiting for like two days now...

He finally wrote up his account of things. Hard to say if it's accurate or not, but it does sound plausible.

Well John Abraham is getting long in the tooth, but he can still play and contribute. Again another good player to provide depth. Don't know what he would cost.. seems like several teams would be in the bidding.

He did have 9.5 sacks last season, so obviously worth a look. His days as an every down player may be close to done, but he can take Ayers' spot in passing downs at least.

Over 30.

I'd like the Abraham signing even though it falls into the "same ol' sh!p" category. He's a Dawkins type leader who can be a solid contributor while being a gut that adds a great deal more to a team than just sacks.

Over 30.

But he missed most of last season with a chronic injury?

don't need to rotate, Ayers goes inside on obvious passing downs

true that. I guess he's a solid rotation guy on all downs. He's not a DT, but he still appears to have some life.

It would be cool to have a guy that has the chance of getting 5 sacks at the other DE spot for us.

Abraham gets a lot of flack for dogging his last season with Jets to avoid injury before he was a free agent, much of it deserved in my opinion. I think this would be a good signing though. He was pretty good in Atlanta, though. He is exactly the kind of complimentary player on the line that will really make things hit a whole new level next season.

34 this year...

For a little comparison, Neil Smith was 31 when we got him and finished his career at age 34.

So you are a no then? DE's do have success later in their careers.

His days as an every down player have already been done. He's been on a snap count to keep him healthy the past few years and he's still been hurt. 4 of his sacks came in one game last year against a bad Bucs' line. That said, he was the ONLY player on our team capable of providing any kind of pass rush so he was negated some times. With Dumervil and Miller the top guys, he could sneak in another 10 sack season if he played enough.

Update: Bud Adams is flying Abraham in to sign him to a lifetime contract to get the coffee for Peyton.

This would have been cool 5 years ago when we were supposed to sign him.
