So this means plan B? Sounds like they think he's going to be a Titan too.

Can you imagine our pass rush? Put Ayers in for Doom on rushing downs and have Doom, Williams, and Von coming off the edge?!

Denver has the cap room to sign both Manning and Mario, but not much after that.

I have been watching NFL network all morning and have seen NOTHING about this. It is the Titans going after Williams.

Williams was in Buffalo this morning getting a physical. How Denver suddenly got in the mix is baffling.

Or he's waiting for Manning to sign with the Broncos so he can also sign w/ us. Before you laugh, not impossible. He may agree to a very cap friendly deal just to play for a SB contender.

As I have said before in other threads, I believe that getting Mario would mean we would probably have to trade Elvis to free up money. Stranger things have happened.

Ayers just showed last year he is a really good end. It'd be stupid to waste that talent and have him learn a third position in 4 years.

Yes, because only sacks matter for ends.

I will let these articles speak for themselves. They can explain it way better than I can.

If he is a really good end, why take him off the field for half the snaps?

He gets good push and can stop the run. If he put on some weight he could be an effective UT and get some pressure on the QB from underneath which is something we desperately need.

**** that, just tell Ayers to put on 25lbs and bump him inside.

That would be the best spot for him. He doesn't have the moves or quickness to be a pass rush DE, he is fine setting the edge in the run game but that is about it unless he made some great strides this offseason.

Mario Williams is a waste of money. The guy although a great player has spent the past two seasons injured, Buffalo is going to massively overpay him and thats why they will always be a doormat. The fact the Texans are making no effort to keep him and don't even need him tells you all you need to know.

You'll get about 10 games a season of good play for a record breaking deal, no thanks.

That would be the best spot for him. He doesn't have the moves or quickness to be a pass rush DE, he is fine setting the edge in the run game but that is about it unless he made some great strides this offseason.

One, he's only played one season at the NFL level as a DE, and in college he started out as a linebacker who then was moved to DE and UT, so its not like there isn't plenty of room for technical growth.

Two, who lines up behind the LDE? The SOLB right? Who is our SOLB? A guy we want blitzing often right? Do we want that guy fighting with LTs or facing double teams? Nope, sure don't. So why the hell wouldn't we want an LDE who can command attention for him to work cleanly on passing downs?

Of all the players on our team Ayers is probably in the top 5 of guys we least need to consider replacing. I'm not saying you don't kick the tires on someone like Mario Williams because the guy is a stud. But you don't do it to replace Ayers. You do it and then get Doom's ass off the field on running downs, effectively having the three of them split the snaps at two DE spots while also getting Ayers some snaps on passing downs inside at UT. Hell, if we could succeed in getting a real run stuffing DT one of these days we could consider a 3-3 pass rush front with Williams and Ayers at DE, Doom and Miller at OLB, and bring the most obvious and most deadly five man push the NFL has seen.

Either way, Ayers needs to be viewed as a long term part of this org. though, he's young, he's already a solid starter, he got better as the season went on last year, and is finally going to get an off-season of work as strictly a DL. Ayers' stock is going to shoot through the roof in 2012.

Denver has the cap room to sign both Manning and Mario, but not much after that.

Wouldn't need too much after that .. maybe a corner and safety and sign Bunkley and Thomas back. We get Ty Warren this year as well as that big Tall DL that got hurt early.. my mind draws a blank for hte moment .. we got him from Seatlle two years ago just before the season started?? Anyway, With Williams , Doom, Ayers and Von all coming after the QB at various times and Manning on the other side that would be HUGE strides in one offseason and we haven't had the draft yet....

Until Buffalo builds a domed stadium they are going to be hard pressed to sign the very best guys consistently.. Maybe Mario finds the money there just too inviting but I can imagine once that first December roles through he'll start to regret it .

Denver's Deccember is like Waikiki Beach compared to Buffalo!

We're 16-1 against the Bills in the last 17 games, Mario Williams isn't going to save them another season of misery Hilarious!

Even the one game they actually beat us it was a FG as time expired after Brady threw 4 picks.
