US judge forwards racist email about Obama
A federal judge acknowledged forwarding a racially charged email about President Barack Obama, saying he isn't a racist and apologizing while adding that he sent it "because it's anti-Obama."
"I apologize to anybody who is offended by it, and I can obviously understand why people would be offended," Richard Cebull, the chief U.S. district judge in Montana, said in comments reported by the Great Falls Tribune newspaper on Wednesday.
"The only reason I can explain it to you is I am not a fan of our president, but this goes beyond not being a fan," he said. "I didn't send it as racist, although that's what it is. I sent it out because it's anti-Obama."
In his email to six friends, Cebull writes: "Normally I don't send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching. I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine."
The forwarded content states: "A little boy said to his mother; 'Mommy, how come I'm black and you're white?' His mother replied, 'Don't even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you're lucky you don't bark!'"
Cebull, who was nominated by former President George W. Bush, has served as the state's chief federal judge since 2008. He told the Great Falls Tribune that he doesn't consider hismelf prejudiced, and that is actions in the courtroom have shown that.
"I have never considered myself that way," Cebull said. "All I can emphasize is I've treated people in my courtroom all these years fairly. I don't think I've ever demonstrated racism. Nobody has ever even implied it."

Anti-Obama ad: 'Go to hell Barack'
WASHINGTON - An anti-Obama Care ad at a Virginia Metro station has drawn the ire of a Congressman.
Rep. Jim Moran wrote Metro a letter asking the transit agency to remove an ad attacking the health reform law and telling President Barack Obama to "Go to hell."
The ad is for a movie called "Sick & Sicker."
"This advertisement is inappropriate, disrespectful of the president and should be removed immediately," Moran said. "The families with children and thousands of tourists who take Metro everyday should not be subjected to such garbage. I understand WMATA vets these advertisements before allowing them to go up, but it seems someone wasn't doing their job when this ad was approved."
The ad is protected by the Constitution, Metro said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
"WMATA advertising has been ruled by the courts as a public forum protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution, and we may not decline ads based on their political content. WMATA does not endorse the advertising on our system, and ads do not reflect the position of the Authority."
In his letter to Metro GM and CEO Richard Sarles, Moran says he accepts political ads should be allowed in the Metro system but says this ad shouldn't be acceptable under "minimum standards of decency."
The ad that caught Moran's attention is at the end of a Clarendon Metro Station platform in Arlington.
"We should not be having ads that are totally inappropriate for the public to be seeing, telling the president to go to hell and suggesting people get an Obama-ectomy or something," Moran said. "It troubles me that Metro allows this to be shown...People of whatever political persuasion should not have to deal with ads that are clearly over the top," he said.

Typical of the nasty political discourse in this country. Nothing is off limits anymore. When pressed on this, the right-wing's response is "Waaah... but the Democrats did the same thing to Bush!". Idiots. To most of these pundits, the left-right political battle is more important than ethics or right/wrong. Most normal people use outlets like sports fandom for this... but these intellectually diseased people would rather use politics for this type of trollish rivalry.
The Right has lost their minds.
I think it would be more accurate to say that America has lost thier ability to find much common ground, sad but true. I did post on this topic in the attempt to help some of my fellow conservatives about why we shouldnt tolerate folks like this judge, as justice needs to be blind, and if the situation was reversed -- if a left-of-center judge siad some outragous things about Bush --how does that violate the public trust? and the assurance one should have before going before a judge that he/she can judge based on the facts of the case, and not let their political passions get in the way of sound judgement. I dont know how well the message was recieved -- but i tried.

Liberals have been in the character assassination business for over 40 years now, but the "righties" need to stay classy? Like when have the liberals even made the attempt? Look at the actions of many liberals around here. Trying to dig up dirt on fellow posters, even about their families and other personal information. Yeah, that is real class.

Racist Anti-Obama Sticker Makes Rounds On Facebook (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/15/racist-anti-obama-sticker_n_1349423.html#s786244&title=Racist_AntiObama_Sticker)

A photograph of a bumper sticker that features racist, anti-Obama language has gone viral on Facebook and other social networks.
The sticker reads "Don't Re-Nig In 2012," in large white type, above smaller text that reads: "Stop repeat offenders. Don't re-elect Obama!"
The offensive design appears to have originated at a site called Stumpy's Stickers (http://www.stumpysstickers.com/), where it can be purchased. The site sells variations on the same idea, including another "Don't Re-Nig" design featuring a caricature of a black man's face with a missing tooth, a picture of a chimp that reads "Obama 2012," and another with a drawing of several Ku Klux Klan members that reads "The Original Boys In The Hood."

It started with the Clinton impeachment and then how hard the right was on Kerry. So the left laid into Bush for revenge. Now the right is taking it honestly to a whole other level. I shudder to think what the left will do next time around.
Honestly the way our Presidents get treated now is pretty lame. It lame to make jokes about Bush being like Hitler, its lame to make vulgar jokes about Obamas mom.
The media is pulling the wool. Look at us we are arguing about Rush, contraception, religion, a bunch of crap that really doesn't matter.

Not when such comparisons are supported by facts.
No one is seriously suggesting the two men are identical in their deeds, but the commonalities are well documented.
It doesn't help that the Bush family fortune was made financing Hitler's war machine.

I know it flies in the face of your entrenched ideology, but it's possible for one side (read: the right-wing) to be much worse than the other - even when both sides have their failings.
And such distinctions matter if you believe in the rule of law.

So, to stay on topic, it's worse if the Republicans post pictures of Obama morphed into Hitler than if the Democrats do it with Bush?
Or vice versa? Nah it's despicable either way. And neither side doing it is justification for the other to continue the trend.

The point you keep overlooking is that Bush did have much in common with Hitler (once again, not saying both men were identical in their deeds) whereas the same can't really be said about Obama (no matter what his other failings might be.)

Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism
By Dr. Lawrence Britt
Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
If you don't see your hero all over this list, then you are officially blind.
