What a waste of an incredibly talented woman if this is true.

Whitney Houston died this afternoon ... a rep for the singer told the Associated Press.

Houston won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards during her record-breaking career. Her album "Whitney" was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. She has sold 200 albums world wide.

Houston holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from Grambling State University in Louisiana.

Houston had one child, Bobbi Kristina, with husband Bobby Brown. Houston and Brown were married from 1992-2007.

One of my all time favorite VOICES.

The voice of a songbird. Her personal life was tragic.

RIP :(

Drug use , yes it is sad .......

Yeah, hard to believe a woman that took such good care of herself, could die at such a young age.....

She was very talented, but she made some wtf was she thinking kind of decisions, like marrying that dick(crack)head Bobby Brown.

As far as her talent, she was phenomenal....every female singer after her it seems tried to sing like she did, you know having to hit every note.....

My wife and I are commenting to the kids that Whitney was probably the best voice of our lifetime....and a quick lesson about good choices and bad choices.

The real tragedy here is that her death is so unsurprising and obvious there's hardly any point in making jokes about it.

What a great artist. What a shame.

Quincy Jones called her, "The eighth wonder of the world."

Quincy Jones called her, "The eighth wonder of the world."
Houston rejected this title, however, on the grounds that it already belonged to cocaine.

How terribly sad. She had immense talent, one of my favorites back when, and she fell into the devil's favorite playground where there's often no return. I have a friend who had one of her daughters get pregnant at 14 and one of her son's became a drug addict and she said the drugs by far was the worst...and still is. She said next to death it is the worst thing that can happen to your child.

My heart goes out to her family. So sad.

It's all about perspective, though. I have a friend who is a drug addict and he loves them.

What a shame, she was a very talent singer and 48 years old is too young to die, she will be greatly missed

48 is way too young to go, man alive when will folks learn that drugs are bad for you. even if you stop using them the toll it puts on your body causes damage later on in life.

And, in other new, the GDP of Peru, Bolivia, Columbia, and Mexico decline by 50% overnight...

On the real side, what a tragic waste of human life and a sad loss of woman with a special gift.

I suppose we'll never win the "war on drugs," but hopefully someday the human demand for them will disappear.
