Some quick background for the uninitiated. Several years ago the Writer's Guild of America started granting awards for excellence in game writing. However, there is a caveat. In order to be eligible the game has to meet certain criteria. They writers have to be a member of the Videogame Writers Caucus, the writers must receive a formal writing credit in the credits page, and the Game's script must be submitted for consideration.

Now, the game developers most commonly acknowledged in the gaming industry as producing the best writing (Bioware, Rockstar, Valve, Bethesda) routinely tell the WGA to piss off. So, that is how you end up with a list of best writing nominees that includes Brink and Mortal Kombat. Yes, that Mortal Kombat.

Personally, I hope they give it to Brink, if for no other reason than to watch the presenter have to maintain a stone face will giving an award in excellence to "Bongoboy".
