Sucks !!

You think there is any chance to get Nolan back now that he knows that there is no hope for him becoming head coach of the Fins ?

****. who are we gonna find that can give up 35 first half points and multiple 100 yard games to backup running backs now?

He was hired by Atlanta.

I wonder what the odds are that he will be Oakland HC this time next year?

The next dc will have the same issues if the front office ignores the defense this off season

Well, at least we have a D-minded head coach -- he'll likely want to find someone who gels with his type of defense. Real bummer - I really liked Dennis Allen. I thought he did a very good job last year.

:Broncos:

If evil Al was still alive, I would say odds are at least 5 to 1 that Allen would be unemployed from the faiders this time next year. However, even if the faiders regress next year, a possibility because of the total culture change there, I say the odds favor him staying at least 1 more year.

Why? Because McKenzie's neck, and pride, are on the line. He has completely cleaned house and is putting his stamp on this team. For example, he has put all assistant coaches on notice, thus giving the impression that Allen will be able to hire his own coaches. Evil Al must be cursing in hell right now.

Ignores? We threw almost all of our draft picks, including the highest in franchise history, at the defense, along with over 5 million dollars in FA DL.

This sucks... I'm hoping Fox's Defensive mindset helps soften the blow. Too bad Spags has already been hired...

well, two trends continue:

-new DC for the Broncos

-everyone on the mane hating every assistant coach

good work, everyone

(at least I called it after the season ended)

ignored?

Von Miller, Warren, Vickerson, Bunkley, Thomas, Champ, Chris Harris.

granted we didn't go out and drop a brinks truck on FA DL, but we used the highest pick in franchise history on a Defensive player. we brought back the best CB in franchise history. we paid Warren and Vickerson even though their injuries made them moot points. we traded for Bunkley, re-signed Thomas, brought in an awesome young UDFA in Harris.

not all blockbuster movies, but to say the defense was ignored is just wrong.

Jack Del Rio.

A thousand times, this.

The Carolina defense was a force under him in 2002.

We just can't catch a break.

Bring Coyer back in. Coyer and Fox? I'm down with that. Make it so!

Dead serious. Coyer had some good things going on, he just didn't get the players he wanted. Coyer and Miller would be good for eachother. I know people scoff at the idea of recycling defensive coordinators, but Coyer is the kind that can get the most out of his players. He's a good, stable, hard-nosed defensive coordinator. Bring him in, give him an assistant to groom, and let's build a defense.

slowick too?

Are you high? Why would you want to bring in Slowick?

Besides, I didn't hear anything about Ron Milus or Sam Garnes getting fired, did you? As far as I know, the only positions currently open are Defensive Coordinator, and Strength and Conditioning.

I'm happy for Allen. I'm not convinced he has the expertise to get it done, especially with the limited draft stockpile the Raiders have but considering the talent they have along the defense I'm sure he'll get the best out of them.

I just hope we don't suffer the after effects on our D like we did when Nolan left town.

Denver Broncos linebackers coach Richard Smith could be someone Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen looks to hire as his new defensive coordinator.

yeah, and there is still plenty of room for improvement. I don't think another new DC (even more experienced) will fix this defense in 2012.

Well better hope that Fox shows the same acumen that he had before when picking coordinators to find a solid replacement. The good news is we might seem slightly more appealing than the last time we did this. It's a bit easier to come to a division winner/playoff team that looks like it's got some holes filled.

Not worried...Fox will just bring in another guy that runs his Defense...I like JDRio alot here, but wonder if Fox will go younger to have more say, or if him and Del Rio are a good fit. Either way, our D will only get better IMHO

The Carolina defense was a force under him in 2002.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_NFL_season

Carolina Panthers: 7-9
258 Points Forced
302 Points Allowed

Not exactly a "force."

2003 however (year Carolina won the division and went to the Super Bowl)

He was already the coach of the Jaguars.

I willing to bet the Raiders give Allen 3 years to prove himself. This is a different Raiders organization, no more Al Davis pulling all the strings.

I'll bet he's unloaded as the head of an absolute train wreck side-show they're assembling over there within 2 years.

Personally I'll be surprised if he's their HC this time next year.

Coyer could never adjust he had a nice year in 2005 with a lot of talent and a great start to 2006 but it was downhill from there.

I hope the new DC understands you can not give the QB all day to throw using a soft 3 man front if their offense has many weapons and you do not have many good coverage guys.
