Actually, I never really LIKED him that much.....but I've gained a lot of respect for him this year. Great season. And they have a LOT of weapons......Nicks, Cruz, Manningham, Bradshaw, Jacobs......

This is a tough matchup for the Pats.

Not to mention that the Giants defense is now healthy and playing GREAT.

Umenyiora, Tuck, Pierre-Paul, Kiwanuka (sp?).......Brady could have a really tough time.

If the Giants can't pressure Brady, it could be a high scoring affair....which means last QB with ball could win it

I still haven't forgotten the NFC's string of 13 consecutive Super Bowl wins so as much as I do NOT want to root for the patriots, I plan to cheer on the AFC representative. Very painful.

I don't like much about the Giants. I remember an undefeated season ruined by them. I just want somebody to smash Brady and humiliate the Pats. If the Gmen can do that, I'm all for it. ;D

I am always with you on this.....EXCEPT when it's New England or Pitt. New England has unbearable fans, and Pitt has a rapist at QB.

Other than that....I'd root for the AFC, too.

exactly.

while Goodell and the entire staff at ESPN are no doubt busy fapping about getting their ideal matchup for the superbowl, i have less than a passing interest in either of these teams. in fact, i hate them both. i won't watch.

The only thing that concerns me with an otherwise very good Giants defense.....is their LBs. That is the weak spot.

And weak LBs vs. good TEs could be big advantage NE.

Otherwise, I think most of the other matchups favor the Giants in this game.

Bernard Pollard in 2012

It wouldn't surprise me to see the league tweak the rules to ban this type of tackle since it happened to one of their pets.

Pollard caught him like that earlier in the game, but didn't fall on his legs quite the same way.

Being 6'5" or whatever like Gronkowski has its disadvantages...

WolfpackGuy
01-23-2012, 08:50 AM
The Pats will have their hands full (again) with the Giants front.

They can get consistent pressure with just their DL which makes life a helluva lot easier for the rest of the defense.

NE will have to keep one of their TE's in at all times if they want Brady to survive.

The Giants are also stronger on offense this time around.

Like Kaylore mentioned above, the Giants are better and the Pats worse than in 07. Also, IMO the Giants are better than the Ravens in practically every way, and the Ravens really should've beaten the Pats yesterday.

I really don't think the Pats have an answer for the Giants passing attack in particular. If anything, it could be a long day for the Pats, not the Giants.

This. Anquan Boldin, a slow, 9-year vet, torched NE. What do you think Nicks, Cruz and Manningham will do?

One thing is certain.....the Giants can score on the NE defense.

Odd comment. The Giants are far more balanced than NE and have almost exactly the kind of defense you need to beat Brady. And I'm not sure how a team that just won in Green Bay and if SF isn't "good enough".

I went to bed last night thinking this was a boring, tiresome matchup that I just couldn't give a **** about. When I got up this morning and visited all the East Coast sports channels, ESPN, SI, NBC and CNN, I found out that it's the game of the century!

Imagine that. :puff:

Yes, they certainly did get lucky. And now their offense is WAY better than it was then.

Additionally, the Pats don't have Seymour, Rodney Harrison, Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Asante Samuel, etc.......In short, the Pats defense is FAR WORSE than it was then.

This is a BAD matchup for New England.

The Pats D was old & starting to break down in 07. And that team peaked way to early. This seasons D seems to be coming together at the right time. Just like the Colts in 06. I think it's going to be a hell of a lot closer then most Omane experts predict.

That wasn't a TD catch. They still needed to drive further to get the TD.

And, oh yeah, good thing the Pats didn't need any luck yesterday just to get to this point. They did nothing to force that missed fg.

Less "coming together" than facing easy opponents. They've been facing a ton of garbage offenses lately. Can you even name the last top offense the Pats defense shut down?

Oh, I never said a blowout. But I think the Giant can (and hopefully) will win. It IS a bad matchup for the Pats....but, when they are clicking, they are nearly unstoppable themselves. We shall see.

I certainly don't expect Brady to throw for ZERO TD's like yesterday. We saw yesterday how important having the TWO tight ends is to New England. Gronk was having a very good game before the injury (I think he was at 80+ yards receiving)....then he went out....and if I recall correctly, Hernandez did not much of anything after that. Gronk's health will be key.

Outside of Welker....NE doesn't have a good WR core.

So the Broncos had a "top offense" just because they put up 29 points on an injury depleted defense one week?

I'll be rooting for the Giants. I've always like Coughlin, love the Giants defense and wish the Broncos would follow their example on how to build a defense. Even though they are a NY team they are way better than the NYJs. The NYG's are a solid franchise with good ownership, good coaching and they play their best ball when it matters the most.
