Tebow Injury -- Torn Cartilage Shoulder

I can't find a link anywhere, but earlier on Mike and Mike this morning they reported that Tebow played the second half of the Patriots game with a painful injury -- I'm trying to repeat it as best I can. They said he had some torn cartilage in his shoulder. They said something was wrong with a rib, like torn away tissue. And they said it caused fluid on one of his lungs, like filling the void there.

I wonder if it will impact his ability to get started with an offseason throwing program right away?

Still no news of it I can find on the web.

Source: Tim Tebow played through pain

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow played through considerable pain in Saturday night's AFC divisional playoff game against New England.

At the start of the third quarter, Tebow tore cartilage on his first rib where it attaches to his sternum, bruised his lung and had fluid buildup in the plural space of his chest, according to an NFL source.

The injuries came as the result of a hit in the pocket when Tebow was pressured after throwing a pass. Even so, he was determined to finish the game with his teammates regardless of the score.

I heard on 9news supposedly from Schefter that it's torn cartilage around the ribs, something to do with fluid building up in the lungs-it really didn't sound very good to me. I didn't hear anything about a shoulder injury, just ribs/lung.

LOL Cutler probably so much tougher then most of us. I know he is tougher then me. No friggin way I could take the hits these kids do. After tearing my knee up in my 20's I can't imagine having to rehab it so hard back then to play pro football. I was just like ok no more snow skiing lol! I retired!

Cutler tough, but he has a PR and marketability issue. What you do is come back into game, then fall down and act like you are trying to get up, argue to not come off the field, then act like you are all pissed at coach for not letting you play. Thats how I would do it? That is how Ben Roth does it and it works well for him.

The fact for big stretches this yr they did well, but then at times got ragdolled, tells me the oline coach did a great job with avg players.

The rookie will get better. Honestly that was pretty good season for Franklin. Clady is a solid LT and if Kuper comes back he is one of our better lineman. But.....Beadles and Walton are too easy to dominant when a big DT gets his claws on them. One of them needs to be better. I vote for Beadles to go.

Yep! He will heal up in less then a month or so and be back at it. Stuff around the rib cage heals quickly! why? i heard someone say once it's because there is lots of blood there! Maybe DR Broncostien can elaborate!

Shame he didn't lose a spleen or something, which would elevate him to legend status in his first real season. Of course, that spleen would probably cure leprosy when touched to human skin.

Not sure if you're kidding, but I'm sure this had absolutely nothing to do with Tuten or why he was let go. I don't know how anyone could argue this injury had anything to do with strength or conditioning.

Tebow took some nasty hits in the pocket last week.

So it begins. Apparently all the people that said Tebow will never get hurt cause he played in the SEC for four years and never missed a game, have now changed their stance to "Tebow is so tough." Good thing Tebow toughed it out in this game or we might have gotten blown out.

The injury was caused in the pocket. Not him scrambling and being hit by a lineback while trying to fight for yards

Whoever said he will never get hurt is an idiot. (not surprising coming from SEC blowhards) 99.9% of NFL players get hurt at some point in their career. I think the point here is that he was hurt in the pocket. If he was scrambling and got hurt then this would blow up into some stupid argument about running QBs and their vulnerability...blah blah blah.

People are commenting on his toughness because he played through a somewhat painful injury. He's a new commodity on this team, this is the first time he's had an injury and been a starter so people want to analyze that.

As was said by quite a few people months ago... I think the abuse a QB takes in the pocket is much worse than what he takes running downfield. A runner usually knows what's coming and can adjust.

When the OL whiffs like they did this weekend the QB is going to get hurt. That is going to happen. Nobody gets blasted like Tim did and not feel it. Every one of our Front 5 Cupcake Crew needs to do some serious self evaluation and decide whether or not they really want to be professional OLmen because that performance, in both the running game and passing game, was f'ing atrocious by any standard. I wouldn't let a pee wee team put that turd of a performance on the field. They were bush league.

The Skins had the Hogs and we got The Cupcakes.

If you look at the young QB's the Broncos have played, only Tebow has received the type of bitter anti-player campaign by people who hate the guy.

Its one thing to reasonably criticize someone. Everyone on this forum understands Tebow's criticisms and talks about them regularly. However, the incessant raging campaigns against the guy are unique and look more like trolling from another teams fans than Broncos fans talking about their team.

Maybe its time for them to move on. If they cant enjoy Broncos football anymore because they hate a certain player, then its not going to get any better for them. We're not doing them any favors by nurturing their bitterness and hatred.

We're not doing each other any favors by conversing with them about it and letting them drop the bottom out of the forum because they want us all to hate Broncos football as much as they do.

I'm excited about next season. This is the first time in years that the team is taking visible steps forward.

Who said this?

Or are you making a strawman argument...

I have always said NO QB can be kept healthy in the NFL.. but Tebow got injured taking unbelievable hits while a guy like Orton would get injured fetaling.. that is an immense difference and why the Broncos won a playoff game against top defenses. Most Qbs are like Orton who couldn't even stay healthy through the 4 games he was available to the KC Chiefs.

The first week of the playoffs Mike & Mike were talking about the toughness of players... they ripped into Rapistboner because he said he'd be "about 60 percent" for game time.

He went on to say that the toughest QBs are the ones that the trainers don't even know are hurt until after the game. Looks like Tebow is one of those guys. This happened in his rookie preseason at Cincy, and now with New England.
