During the NYG-GB halftime they had rolling tweets at the bottom of the screen. Had one from Von saying "I will be better. We will be better".

Good to see.

I have hopes Moore will make it and be a really good player. It will be up to him, mainly how hard he works. A Carter-Moore future safety tandem has promise, but he ha to want it or he won't be around long. Not only is this offseason big for Tebow, it is also for Moore and Julius Thomas.

I can live with a blown coverage, being out of position, etc when the player is a rookie. It happens. What I can't stand about Moore is missing tackles. Tackling is about heart, determination and effort. I don't know that can be taught.

That cast is apparently forbidding him from shedding blocks. However, I rarely see Von Miller take plays off. On the other hand, tackling was a joke, especially when the Patriots made it to the second level...

He needs to 1. completely start over learning how to tackle and 2. get his head in the defensive playbook & film room.

Gotta love that he's taking a positive attitude out of a pretty dismal rookie campaign. Hopefully next year his play on the field will match up.

UCLA is a good school, although I think the fact that they're a public school means they get a broad swath of students - from below average to top-notch. I've known a few dumb people that have graduated from UCLA... while one of the better professors I've had at DU, Sandy Johnson (teaches epidemiology) came to DU from UCLA. While the best Professor at DU (IMO) Kevin Archer, taught briefly at UCLA. I can say they're both very easy graders, though.

He's a Broncos fan, so I root for him to succeed here more than I would most rookies.

He needs to improve in just about every aspect though. You have to be able to track a play and make a tackle at his position.

Every one of these rookies was placed in a bad spot (short off-season) on a bad roster this season.

Moore and Carter play the most cerebral positions (Moore even more-so than Carter) and had the most asked of them because of it. Testament towards Carter's work and ability.

ALL our rookies should be dramatically better next year. THAT is something to look forward to.

i am not worried about Moore. yes it sucked a little that he was so bad this year, but sometimes in the NFL, rookies come in and look like rookies.

and side note, if Dawkins is in fact done, i would love it if the organization brought him back as a coach or consultant type for the defense.

A lot of warrior type players when they are done just want to take a step away and relax, reflect, and enjoy retirement.

true, but when i look at Dawkins I get the impression of a guy who might be lost without football. he is a guy who has lived the game for 16 years. if he was willing to sign on with the staff i would love it.

You want to see guys like Moore, who clearly love being on the Broncos, do well. But he was terrible this season. Too small and slow to be an effective NFL safety. Maybe he'll hit the weight room hard and can become better. Hope he can do so.

I am still a huge fan of Moore. No, he didnt have the best year and got replaced however I have no doubt that he is going to be a legit safety in this league. Traditionally one of the hardest positions to adapt to is safety in the NFL and I think he is going to be a much better player next year.

I have high hopes for all the rookies, not just Moore. With that being said, we will find out what the coaching staff thinks of Moore(and Carter) by the offseason acquisitions.

If they draft another safety high or bring in a high priced safety FA, that will tell us all we need to know about what the coaching staff thinks about Moore.

I wish him the best, he seems like a good kid and appears to be a team guy.

So ****ing true.....every other young rookie or 2nd year player not named Tebow has been ripped unmercifully on here, labelled as busts, wasted draft picks, and other derogatory things.

The whole time these clowns bitching about them never realize they have fewer starts than Tebow, and also had no ota's....shortened training camp, etc.

01-16-2012, 06:26 PM
off topic and probably not applicable to Dawkins, but I wonder if the NFL (or NFLPA) should do more to prepare its players for life after football? seminars, coaching colloquiums for those that might be interested, business classes or opportunities, an employment office almost like a college, possible counseling programs for players unable to cope with the idea of the dream being dead or that part of their life being over, etc.

Rahim's a nice kid but more than a few people in the media have said he never saw a microphone he didn't like - I think he got caught up in being a local celebrity. I'm not sure if he can play, the evidence right now would say no, but hopefully he'll be more focused next year because Elway loves him.

I think Dawkins would be a great coach. I hope Colorado and the Broncos have embraced him enough to consider making this his permanent home. Some great players have difficulty making the transition to coaching but I think he could.
