Let the 2012 Offseason commence. Fanboys unite, examine the list, create expectations of the team landing all your favorite ones, and then despair when they do the opposite!

Rotoworld's FA "Master" List (http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/39667/59/nfl-free-agent-master-list)

NFL Free Agent Master List

Saturday, January 14, 2012

The 2011 free agent class was the deepest, most talent-rich in league history. The 2012 class comes pretty close.

With transactions disallowed during last year's lockout, NFL teams and agents had significantly less time to broker long-term contracts. When the lockout was lifted in late July, negotiators had just over a month to strike agreements before the start of the season. A large chunk of talented players was forced to settle for one-year arrangements. Contract-year players who normally would've received multi-year deals played out their final seasons.

Unlike most other sites, Rotoworld has NFL Players Association access and can produce the most accurate free agent lists on the web. Chris Wesseling, Pat Daugherty, and myself will soon begin delving deeper into the 2012 free agent class, but this is a preliminary look at the inventory. The unsigned players are loosely ranked in the order we expect them to be valued on the open market.

2012 free agency opens on the afternoon of March 13.

The Broncos will need to get busy and get more quality and fill needs here first and then use the draft to take BPA to avoid making so many mistakes there that past regimes have made.

I know its not your list but I dont see how Michael Bush is franchised. That would give him top 5 RB salary.

Not sure Raiders can tag Bush because they tagged him once already. If they do it again they would have to pay him a ton. They gave Mcfadden a 60 million dollar deal, they are heavily invested in him being the starter.

Sign prater for life...and the list of safeties looks above average. We could really benefit this year as there are many decent FAs in our most pressing needs. We need to build depth also...something the team must do quickly. I would rather have a veteran player who knows the game than some of the ridiculous players we have on the roster...don't think I've ever seen a secondary this shallow in depth.

Sign Vince Young as a backup and move forward with the option.

Why not sign them both still. Both are better options than mcBean, Vickerson, unRein, and we can't seriously count on Warren. And I hope Ayers improves in the pass rush department next year. Ironically enough, DT isn't in the top 5 of our biggest needs IMO. I would be fine if we kept the DL and just got some of our players healthy for depth. MLB, CB, S and RB are all definitely more important. Even if you do see DT as a big need, they both provide good depth. Neither will require big money.

How is DT not a bigger need than MLB, S, or RB?

At RB we have McGahee who was very good this year. Moreno still has good pedigree and was starting to come on prior to his injury. Ball and JJ are ok depth.

For safeties we have Carter, who looks like he's taken over a starting spot, Bruton who was inconsistent but started to play better late in the year, and Rahim Moore who still has the kind of pedigree you'd hope would start paying off given a full off-season to get mentally up to speed. That all assumes Dawkins is done.

MLB we at least have a young 3rd round prospect who has potential.

At DT we've got Bunkley, who was an ok run stuffer with minimal pass rush. We have Thomas who has ok pass rush and is weak against the run. We have Vickerson who was out almost the entire year and has never been anything special. McBean, Unrein, etc. are retread types. Warren has now missed basically two full years of football.

We damn well better resign Bunkley and Thomas, then we better make sure neither one is anything more than 2nd string.

Yeah, after seeing this team without Lynch or Dawkins the past few years, it's clear they could use him. He might not be the greatest athlete in the world, but you don't have to worry about him not knowing where he needs to be.

We damn well better resign Bunkley and Thomas, then we better make sure neither one is anything more than 2nd string.

Moore and Bruton haven't shown anything yet. Mcgahee is old and often injured and Moreno has only proven to be a good third down back. Irving is totally unproven and Mays is not a starter. CB we can agree is a huge need. Bunkley and Thomas both proved to be solid, albiet not pro bowlers.

Now I would like to see how Irving and the Safeties develop, and I'd rather not spend a first on a rb, but I think we need a cb early. I also think that in the second and third round the dt's won't be much of an upgrade over Bunkley and Thomas.

My main point in my post is that bunkley and thomas should be kept regardless of ifyou think we need another dt. My opinion is that we don't and other areas are motte important. Truth is we don't have any position settled except olb, de and kickers. Some might even debate that. The order of importance is mostly opinion, depending on how you like the young players. CB is probably the only position most would agree is top 2 or 3 need.

More than anything, i want a MLB!! A close 2nd is DT! A receiving TE would be nice. Depth everywhere else through the draft and FA would be good. We need more speed on both sides of the ball..a guy on O that has the ability to take it the distance and a MLB that can run sideline to sideline and cover TEs down the field.

Shananahan
01-15-2012, 06:29 PM
I think interior defensive line and cornerback have to be the top priorities, followed closely by assistance at runningback and safety. This goes for the draft as well, and I'd like to see them maximize what they can get from each (sign the best cornerback, preferably, as experience is an asset there, and so on).

I actually think the Tebow effect will attract better quality players here this offseason. Money talks too off course but being a playoff team again and divisional champion and with the media hype around our franchise bodes well for the future and you cannot deny the faith issue too, just look at the tweets when we beat the Steelers.

I'm not down on vickerson. I hope he is part of the rotation next year and is able to contribute. I just think there is a place for both Thomas and Bunkley. I thought they were both decent this year.

Needs:

Outlet options for Tebow, meaning a good TE and a hb who can catch. I'd take a flier on John Carlson while our draft picks from last year mature. At HB Tolbert or Hillis could come in and help on third down. If Knowshon is healthy so could he.

I don't think we need safeties. Carter looks pretty good and Moore is just young. The coaches didn't give up on him. They got him into the game late to get him some mop up pt. worst comes to it, Champ will slide over in a few years.

I'd like to see Denver look at Dewayne Thomas, TE from Clemson at #25, or DT Poe from Memphis or Burfict if he's there. I think he's more Levar Arrington vs. Ray Lewis though.

Hope we don't go on a major spending spree in free agency. Team needs to be built right and through the draft.

I'd be okay with us targeting one or two top free agents. But hope the rest, we don't go overboard.

I know its not your list but I dont see how Michael Bush is franchised. That would give him top 5 RB salary.

Was going to say the same thing. No way can they pay both Bush and McFadden. If they do, their stupid.

They can't and they won't. Hopefully McGahee's success here and Denver's resurging commitment to the run game will be enough to attract him as long as the price is fair.

I'm not down on vickerson. I hope he is part of the rotation next year and is able to contribute. I just think there is a place for both Thomas and Bunkley. I thought they were both decent this year.

It really will come down to those guys rehab, and if Bunk and Thomas want to stay etc etc.

There is a good chance the Broncos dont feel dline is the big weak link anymore. They may think Bunkley can start, and with Vick, Warren, Thomas all in the mix they can get another starter out of that. Really we are almost thinner at DE. So what us fans think once again probably wont matter.

It's safe to assume that since the axed a WR in the middle of the season, and let Gaffney walk before that, they will be adding a WR in the draft.

People need to understand one reason we didnt throw to the backs is because Mcgahee always running towards the LOS with Tebow. Not really the same thing as Sproles laying back to block, then running to an open space.

Just saying.

Prediction: Half the board will want a few specific players. Denver will not sign them. Chaos and hillarity will ensue.

sometimes its best to look for roll players in FA. These top end ones rarely work out that well. I do like Nicks though from NO. He's almost a sure thing barring injury to come in and dominate.

A lot of the same ones saying we have to resign Bunkley hated the trade for him. Turned out to be along with Miller, Doom coming back, Bailey staying, the best thing for our defense this yr.

I was pretty much in the lets see what happens by the end camp, and I think Elway and Xandars did a pretty good job. We had quite a few new faces making better plays then players did last yr. If it continued again this next yr, hell we could win 9 even 10 games. New coaches in Oak, KC, and same ole Norv in SD. No reason we can't win it again.

I have always like this player.

He's coming back from an achilles surgery performed in December, FYI. Supposedly he's needed it since 2010 but finally had it done. Might be tough for him to be 100% by next camp.

So you want to sign a player that been on the IR for last season due to hamstring issues? Wonder what the altitude will do for that type of injury.
