View Full Version : Playoffs: Saints @ Niners Game Thread

The media is pumping this up as a defensive battle, but I think the Saints offensive line is too good. Brees will get his shots downfield. IMO, the Niners will stay close, maybe even lead, but by the time the fourth quarter rolls around, the Saints will start pulling away.

All my experience watching pro football tells me that the 49ers will win. Physical teams beat finesse teams historically. But then this a new NFL, where teams can win playing virtually no defense and just racking up points through the air, so who knows?

up until two years ago, I had a soft spot for the Saints. they were an afterthought in Louisiana compared to LSU. a lot of Louisianans were Cowboys or Bucs fans. then they won the SB and every coonass down there acts like he has been backing them for years. I remember going to a game in the Dome in the late 90's and there being maybe 10,000 people in there. good story, I know

I think by the 3rd quarter, the Saints are walking away with this one. With the 9ers O, I'll consider 14 points out of reach. In today's NFL, a good O will eventually put up points and the 9ers just wont be able to keep up.

The only time, I think, the Saints have went downfield was on Brees' INT. They're a checkdown O so far today and that's not the Saints' norm. The 9ers DBs must be covering solid.

As I say this, they got about a 20 yarder. Something, at least.

It was before. Since the flag was against New Orleans but SF recovered the fumble, SF had the option to decline the penalty and, instead, take the recovered fumble.

I'm kinda surprised SF didn't have the option to take both but, otherwise, I still don't understand how it differs from many other penalty declination scenarios.

Yikes. Sproles knocked down at the 12.

Will they delay pregame stuff for late game (National Anthem, etc) for the final part of the current game?

How awesome is this that the game is coming down to the NO O unit vs SF D for one drive to determine it all?

Niners fan in the office swore up and down that Brees did not have the capability to score on the niners defense in the two minute warning.

He's furious and looking stupid.
