Charles Barkley is a ****ing moron.

Stick to eating and basketball.

We talked about Barkley before. Being someone who enjoys analyzing human behavior I get a kick out of guessing what someones real motivation is for the words they say. In Barkleys case I see him like this. He likes to make jokes about pretty much everything because his personality type is the clown. Thats fine I know lots of people like that and I myself like to have a lot of fun with things and be stupid.

Barkley though also IMO is a hedonist. In that if it feels good, he is going to do it. When he wants to drink he drinks, gamble he gambles, drugs, hookers, food, then even back to a healthy lifestyle etc etc. That his game to have a good time in life. Do what he wants, don't worry about right/wrong or what people think.

Back when he played he used to give the classic line when he got in trouble, " I am not a role model for your kids or anyone".

Then also he is arrogant and has to be right all the time.

So along comes Tebow who does feel like sports stars should be role models, and that by not doing so you miss a grand chance to help people and move the community forward. Tebow also feels you dont just do things because they feel good. You work hard, live a moral life, and in the end you get happiness and fulfillment. Not the Barkely way.

So Barkley just spouts off because Tebow is anti everything Barkley stood for, Barkley likes to make a lot of noise etc etc.

Barkley a loser anyways, he's like the Phillip Rivers of the NBA.

Barkley sought after attention every day he was in the NBA. He reached his height when he irreverently told parents that he didnt want to be a role model for their children.

Here comes Tebow not asking for a sliver of media attention and living his life everyday like he see's being a role model as a responsibility inherent in what he does for a living, and he embraces it wholeheartedly.

Charles, you aren't someone who's opinion anyone respects on this matter. Tebow is wiser now than you ever were as an athlete. Maybe you should take his advice and follow his lead.

And here I thought you'd be all in with Charles since, if I'm not mistaken, he's one of the few people who rode with the Mavs during the playoffs and finals.

I do think he's got a point in that it should soon be time to just let Tim be a quarterback, not an international phenomenon. But not yet. The novelty and the bigness of the moment and the moral character of the man is still something very new to the sports watching world, much less the world at large. Hopefully, we'll evolve to a point where we get and admire Tim's character and expect him to perform on a weekly basis and won't bat an eyelash. People's expectations have been that he'll flop and that he can't be the moral guy he is. Once those evolve to be more in line with what he really IS, Charles willl get his wish. But not yet.

I watch several of them to see how each are spinning certain topics.

Fox is the only one with any conservative spin at all. I'm not sure why you are so concerned about them.

The rest (including ABC, NBC, and CBS) are all considerably left of the middle in various degrees and aren't even trying to balance themselves out anymore.

Some people root against Tebow because of their political biases. You are obviously not one of those people at this point, but they're out there. Some of them are on this forum.

Someone should inform Barkley that 45 million people apparently watched the Bronco-Steeler playoff game last week, making it one of the most watched playoff games in history of the NFL not counting the Super Bowl. I would hardly say people are "Tebowed out" since I doubt that many viewers were watching to see how Ben's ankle held up.

Political and religious reasons, which I guess for some, go together I suppose.

I love how you continue to say this, even though the only station that airs liberal programming is MSNBC (and they also air conservative programming), Comedy Central, and HBO. But, again, im arguably the most liberal guy on this board and i, not only support tim tebow as a player, I support him as a person.

I couldn't give a **** if he thanks God after every touchdown and if he draws strength from that and that makes him a good person, then great. I WOULD have an issue of him if he shoved his beliefs down our throats and, though people accuse him of doing that, I've never once personally seen it. Even his "anti abortion" commercial was pretty harmless. He's purposely chosen not to take political stances (though some of those retards running for the nom have asked for his endorsement) and goes out of his way to say that "God" has no interest in who wins and loses football games.

But I'm also a believer that Tebow's playing style is more of a reason he's a lightning rod than his religious beliefs. If he threw the ball like Tom Brady, and everyone thought he was the next great football player, we wouldnt be talking about him as much.

News media in this country is admittedly left of center. MSNBC is extremely left of center. 2 out of 3 people in America identify with conservative views. But yet an overwhelming majority of news media in this country is not just left of center, but borders on leftist advocacy.

The cat has been out of the bag for awhile now.

Explain to me what this is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBFOmUXR080

I'm not watching some conservative bs youtube video, and i have no clue where you get your info from, but your definition of "left leaning" is MUCH different than mine. But then again, you think Obama is a communist and I see him as a moderate who spent the majority of his time in office trying to please your type than mine.

American does seem to identify with "conservative principles" but im also convinced that 90 percent of americans have no clue of the differences between conservative and liberal...they just know both as curse words. They think "taxes bad! government bad!" until they realize they actually need both.

Whatever, i dont feel like getting into a huge political argument with you, your mind isnt gonna change, mind certainly isnt.

Im goin to vegas today, gonna put some money on the broncos and hope for a big win on sat.

Its a video of NYT jounalists talking about how to spin events to advocate for democrat causes and how to veil them so that people who only read one news source wont be able to discern the fact that they're not being 100% truthful.

You really should start embibing your info from multiple sources.

I'll agree that the NYT opinion page is mostly left leaning. They only employ two conservative voices and even those two arent completely objectionable. But the New York Times is one news source of many, and lets face it, tons more people watch TV than pick up the paper. Also, the Times is hardly some liberal rag, its not some written version of Rachel Maddow, but of course their opinion page leans left. Show me one mouthbreather in the south who reads the New York Times. That said, comparing the Times to, say, Fox News would be false. The times still reports facts, fox news coontinues to make **** up and say **** like "terrorist fist bump"

Its not just the opinion page. Those were editors you were hearing. Those people determine the way that stories are covered. They werent talking about opinion pieces, they were talking about choosing which stories to cover. They specifically talked about ways to promote Occupy Wall Street in ways that make it seem a bigger movement than it is, and ways to advocate Obama in ways that arent obvious. They talked about ways to do that by using timing of, amount of, and type of coverage.

Did you just call people from the south "mouthbreathers"? Really? Thats ridiculous. The South holds a lot of the literary history in this country.

I made a general statement, it was not specifically aimed at you. You're smart enough to know that.

You're also smart enough to know that the difference between Fox News and the New York Times/LA Times/Insert news rag here________ is indiscernable in terms of the amount of spin used. Its just the direction of the spin.
