Used to drive me crazy the way Elway carried that ball when he ran and he did it a lot. But after years I learned that Elway had the inate ability to "feel" defenders" behind him or coming up on him. That game was so special.

the summer before that season the broncos were predicted to go far after becoming tthe first team in nfl history to finish with 11 wins and not make playoffs (1985).

Everyone remembers The Drive, but one of the biggest plays in that game was in OT when Elway hit Watson on a 3rd and long. Huge throw, great catch. And Watson took a pounding to boot. Set up the AFC-winning FG.
