Hilarious! probably a ploy to sell more cars when people start burning up the ones they have cause their oil failed.

When was the last time state tax dollars went toward telling you not to do something?

Ads against drunk driving, certainly. Perhaps ads against smoking cigarettes.

But now, California (http://autos.yahoo.com/news/driving-green-means-not-changing-your-oil-until-you-need-to.html) is embarking on a campaign to persuade its citizens not to change their oil so much.

You don't change your tampon often enough.

It's the right thing you moron. The 3000 mile oil change is a thing of the past with today's engines and synthetics. That little red maintenance light on your dash sends you to the dealer/oil change shop of your choice twice as often as need be.

My car's owner's manual states that it needs an oil change once every 7,500 miles. That's from the manufacturer, not from Jiffy Lube.

I'll trust the guys who actually built my car to be the best judge of how often it needs an oil change.

Right and that is basically what the new recommendation is.

Yes and this recommendation for fewer oil changes come for the same state that that says if it's brown flush it down but if it's yellow let it mellow....... thanks but no thanks

Change your oil according to what the manufacturer says, not what Jiffy Lube says -- regardless of the age of your vehicle.

I Change oil every 5K in my 2002 Ford F-250 diesel with 15qts of Rotella T and she still runs like brand new.

I don't worry about my wife's car she drives an Escalade and the Cadillac dealer keeps the car washed and changes the oil at no charge for the first 50K miles.
