Hue may get one more season to figure out how to be a HC. After that, whoever lands the GM job in Oakland will be able to bring in someone who's actually qualified. Then things will get interesting.

This I almost agree with .. starting Quinn as a surprise. Look what happened when we started Tebow it took the NFL 6 weeks to rebound and adapt.

It just might take a half a game or a whole game or even two for the Steeler and other playoff opponent defenses to re-calibrate for a Quinn offense after preparing all week for Tebow-world.... It could work for a game at least if EFX really want a ghost of a chance to win a playoff game this year.

I'm still waiting for you to answer how exactly they didn't "earn" it.

A loss in any one of those 8 wins and they don't make the playoffs. I'd say every one of those wins "earned" it.

Just out of curiosity, did the Broncos not "earn" their way into the playoffs in 1997 when they lost 2 out of the last 3 to finish 2nd in the West, when they could have had the division?

I guess I still don't understand this concept. We "earned" that playoff spot by winning the games to hold those tiebreakers. It sucks to close out the season as cold as we did but you can't just discount the first 15 games just because we didn't win one that, as it turns out, we really didn't need to anyway.

If Roger Goodell had just put our name in a hat or bingo ball roller along with the Raiders and that's how it was decided then I would be all with you. But we earned those tie-breakers over the course of the season and we deserve to be right where we are now...

7 Days from getting the floor wiped with us by Pittsburgh.

I mean, they won 2 of their last 3, and played like a team with PASSION today. Therefore, even though they didn't win enough games to qualify for the playoffs according to NFL rules, I feel like they should be the AFC South Champs.

Then ask yourself why the coaches called plays to NOT lose , instead of calling plays to win. The players have to execute what the calls are... They failed.
But the coaches had as much to do with losing as anyone ON the field.
Alllen called what he needed to win, except get a Plus # in the TO ratio.

But The Offensive coaching absolutely stunk, and it showed. Failure to try FGs inside the 40, and relying on the D to make their points for them.

McCoy could be let go as far as I'm concerned in the off season. He shows NO ability to confuse a defense or take advantage of down and distance situations by not being predictable. Also apparently Fox and McCoy have no ability to coach a young QB and tell him how to improve.

And yes our young QB needs to be a lot better. But he has earned his time on the field for this and the start of next year.

.

Rolandftw
01-01-2012, 11:30 PM
The Broncos have nothing to apologize for. A lot of fans of the other teams in the division are going to make fun of Denver, but the reality is they won't be watching their team in a playoff game. Denver probably gets beat down but you never know. Pittsburgh didn't exactly blow out Cleveland today. Maybe you make a big special teams play, sustain a couple drives and get a turnover and steal one.

It's not how you want to get in though, losing three straight.. and it would have felt much better to knock off kc at home to get in without help.

Rolandftw

I don't get this reasoning at all. Tebow hasn't earned anything for next season. If Denver brings in a QB to compete with Tebow and he shows himself to be the better QB in camp/Tebow doesn't show signs that he's getting better, I'd hope the Broncos coaching staff would go a different direction at QB.

I can't say you earned it, but it's yours. Congrats.

I felt the same way,who cares if we won a crappy division. Then i was looking at the NFL standings, and realized that the AFC west wasnt the worst division. The New york Giants won their division at 8-8, and they have a 5 win team in their division. The AFC south has Jacksonville at 5 wins and Indy at 2 wins. I know houston is good when healthy. And the NFC west even though san fran is really good, their division is held down by the rams with 2 wins, and cards with 5 wins and the seahawks with 7 wins.

I think the AFC west isnt the worst division, all 4 teams are average teams with around .500 records. We arent the best division obviously, but we are not the worst.

The 'what if' game is dumb.

What if Prater didn't miss a FG and DT didn't drop a TD bomb? The game's wrapped up before Barber steps out of bounds.

i know, we can play the "if" game all day long.

Agree , but what he has earned is a legitimate shot to run with the first string, and not a demotion to # 3 at the start of camp and no time to practice and play with the #1s in camp and Preseason. In other words the real Competition that he didn't get last PS. And the heaviest weight has to be game performance, not practice in 7 on 7 s
He deserves the start next week. He also deserves some real off season commitment from the team to try to help him improve, WITHOUT trying to change everything about his game and throwing motion. Frankly Tebow was better as a passer BEFORE the coaches tried to change his motion. They need to work on his footwork and leave the rest alone. And allow him to make the mistakes that he needs to , in order to develope his instincts without waiting for the 4th quarter.

Frankly our offense is putrid, but a large part of it is the coaching and coordinator. If we come out with the same conservative crap this week as the last 3 we are one and done.

Kinda crazy to think that KC was a blocked FG and SD was a botched snap away from winning the division.

and one 50 yard bomb TD away from it at Arrowhead from Tebow. If KC doesnt allow that they are in the playoffs.

Oh please. Kc never should have beat SD anyways. Both KC and Denver probably should have finished with 6 wins.
