If we don't pressure, pressure, and pressure some more I am going to be irate. I just can't see Orton torching us for the entire game if we are constantly bringing blitzes. Sure, he will hit some plays here and there but he will also get sacked multiple times to kill drives.

On the other hand, if we don't bring much pressure I could see him having a good game. The bottom line with him is when he gets good protection he is a pretty good QB. When the play breaks down he is AWFUL.

Agree? Disagree? I want PRESSURE

Totally agree. This is one game where we need to bring constant pressure......we all know what Orton does under pressure.......he goes fetal.

I agree with your take, but something tells me that the Broncos will be playing to protect their safeties. That means one less player to blitz.

Expect to see Wilhite on corner blitzes and DJ blitzing up the middle.

Von Miller is basically playing one-handed now. we won't have much of a pass rush Sunday. :(

I agree this should be the game plan... but I am willing to bet the Broncos play it safe on defense.. especially if Dawkins is out. I think the Broncos will play more zone and hope they get pressure with their front 4.

I expect the Chiefs to move the ball between the twenties.. but settle for field goals in the red zone.

Having Dawkins out makes me more nervous than anything else, again.

Our secondary, specifically safeties, just aren't that good right now.

Well then we are in trouble. I think we will struggle to score 20 unless we force turnovers. Our best bet is to bring heat early and try to get out to a 10 or 14 point lead

Nothing protects your cover guys like a pass rush. It makes everything on defense better.

Knock that son of a bitch Orton on his ass play after play after play.

I want to see a pass rush so brutal that rule changes are discussed this offseason for "player safety". I want Dumervil and Miller to set the single game sack record. Each.

I want to get drunk off of Orton's tears.

The game plan should be what it always should be: Get after the QB however you can and make him throw the ball before he wants to, especially early in the game to make him feel he never has time even when he really does.

Pressure YES. Put Champ on Bowe, and keep him there.
Blitz if you have to, but keep hitting Orton on every possible play.

I kind of wonder if they signed the FB off PS because they are going too put Larsen in at LB again, ala Shanny. Haven't done it for a while and god knows if Dawkins is out we will need some help in the secondary from Somewhere.

#1--Don't let McCluster become CJ Spiller. They both catch well and are lightning quick. Screens, dump offs, and bubble screens could be a problem if our safeties and corners don't show up.

#2--pressure up the middle. the chiefs probably will expect it from the edge but we need to get push from the DT's and send DJ behind them. Orton panics when the pocket collapses and guys get in his face.

#3--tackle, tackle, and tackle some more. this shouldn't need to be something that's stressed for an NFL defense but it is. you miss a tackle, guys like bowe, baldwin, and especially breaston/mccluster will turn a 6 yard gain into a 40 yard gain. you miss a tackle, you run a mile.

#4--this is more special teams, but we need to control field position ALL game long. if we give up long returns, take stupid penalties, and/or do anything other than make KC go 80 yards to score, we're asking for trouble.

This is the key, imo - middle pressure is when Orton collapses.

this is actually a major problem all across the league. guys are getting through college football without ever learning how to tackle. especially DBs. at the NFL level, the coaches don't have time to teach players how to tackle. it's like bunting in baseball. it's a fundamental skill that is not being universally taught and by the time a guy is at the professional level, it's too late to teach them because there is so much else that needs to be done.

i'm sick of seeing players close their eyes, lower their shoulders, and try to "hit" somebody to the ground. just wrap your damned arms around the guy and drag him to the ground. Champ does it every time. too many other guys think making an ESPN highlight package is more important. i've seen lots of shoddy tackles that have led to big gains and TDs for the opponent. we can't have that Sunday. tackle first. try to punch the ball out second. forget the big hits. fundamentals beat flash every time.

If by "just aren't that good right now" you mean "completely abysmal" then I would concur.

Bowlen should come into the locker room before the game and announce that anyone who causes a Chefs TO gets $50K per turnover. anyone who sacks Orton gets $10K per sack.

then he should say Orton will be paying these bonuses.

then he should pull out $2.5M in stacks of $1000 bills and plop them on the table. tell the team that this is the money we saved by cutting Orton. that there's enough there for 50 turnovers or 250 sacks.

I went to camp 3 or 4 times, Kyle was torching the 2s, getting the ball out quick, and looked great.

If I am KC I go three wide and spread a ton, run and gun, quick passes, and try to neutralize our pass rush juat like new eng and buff did.

Our nickel package gives up 6 ypc, and its facing mcclouster...

Screens, draws, & play action vs our garbage safeties.

Also I expect them to start out with mcclouster in backfield, motion him out to get mays on him, or use playaction to him, then pass to him on a two man screen post play action.

Baldwin vs goodman could be a problem too. I dont like the matchups at all, esp with our soft safeties. Bruton has gotta ball out. Woodyard should see a ton of time matched up on Mcclouster.

Id like to see Von flush Kyle from the middle rather than outside as much, with 90 at de and ayers. We gotta rush 4.

i say rush him all day long. if they end up in passing situations, bring everybody you possibly can. the more he gets hit, the worse he plays.

Make Orton move out of the pocket. He hates doing it. You dont have to sack him all the time, and his throws will suffer when he has to move his feet.

We beat the cheaps by making orton use his legs cause when he does that funnels 88.756% of his brain function solely to his legs leaving the rest to find receivers and remember he still has to order his arm around so the numbers drop further.

I would love for us to come out and blitz the first 3 downs, get to Orton on all 3 of them and have them punt.

Knock him down early get him feeling rushed, get the fans against him(more than they already are).

Use Von and DJ on blitzes up the middle. Pressure from the middle will be key, but we also will expose our horible safeties by blitzing... Definite double edged sword.

OABB

Simple. just let the chiefs walk into the redzone on every drive. Orton will take it from there.

The most important thing is to stop the run. Force Orton into 3rd and 5 or more, then do a combo of blitzing and playing coverage.

Key is tackling. If its 3rd and 5 or longer, he will throw it short. Its on the coverage guy to make the tackle.

Its a bit ridiculous because a blind 5 year old can tell us how to stop Kyle Orton.
