View Full Version : Ghosts of Broncos Past

Three of the past four years, the Broncos have taken an 8-5 record into the final weeks.

Under Cutler and Orton, the Broncos lost all three remaining games to close the year and lost out on a shot at the playoffs.

Can Tebow lead the team to a different result?

Reverse mojo?

No he will throw 3 TDs right handed and 23.657 INTS with the left hand........ on Sunday

To me this is the most important storyline. Tebow already has a higher win % than both of those Munsons...If he can win a big game, Ill be ecstatic. we havent had that at qb in a long time.
If he pulls a Cutler, Im not sure I will recover honestly.

Mojo ain't real.

Tebow has the cajones that the other QB's didn't have. But will he play well enough to close out the season on a high note? We'll see. This is the NFL and those guys like to play spoiler.

A win this weekend would just about win the Broncos the division. Oakland goes into KC and San Diego goes into Detroit. Oakland is struggling, and San Diego has two tough games to finish the season.

A win at Buffalo and the Broncos can just about punch their ticket.

I agree he isn't one to shy away from the moment. But while the past QBs had a huge part in the collapse the rest of the team also folded.

This team seems more resilient and rises to the occasion with Tebow. So to me that is the main reason and it started with Tebows example.

This game's going to be on Hanukkah and the day before Christmas. Ain't no way homie's going to lest us down. ;D

Seriously though...Tebow put us back in the hunt with a shot to make the playoffs after the team was freakin' 1-4. He has already accomplished more than I could have hoped. We're playing with house money right now. This team has battled injury, player changes, and coaching tinkering all year and has still somehow put themselves in a position to make a run. Its all gravy right now.

I'll be disappointed if we don't make the playoffs, but I will still be super optimistic about next year.

We will see. Do I think they can? Yes. Team seems to have a different character than the 07, 08 and 09 teams. This is actually a good test for a younger team. Win the games you are supposed to win, gives you confidence to win games you probably should not.

So exorcise those ****ing demons and lets knock some heads in the playoffs.

Grit.

This team seems to have that gritty nature about them. Young guys and vets who seem to want to go the extra mile to make the play. Overachievers.

This is a fantastic team to pull for.

I think we buck the trend by beating BUF this weekend while KC beats OAK. Seems about right.

The Buffalo game is meaningless when it comes to the division title. All we have to do is beat KC and we win the division.

Buffalo was the 2nd to last game the year this franchise entered it's horrible last few years. Lets exercise the demon in the 2nd to last game against Buffalo.

(I'll say it again, these next two games scare me - East Coast early game on a short week and KC at home who may be also going for the title.)

...or beat Buffalo and get an early Christmas gift in a Chief victory over Oakland...

I'd prefer getting a win in Buf and a win vs KC.

But thats me.

Are you talking about getting to the playoffs, or having the team ready to win in the playoffs?

This is a really good test in a cold envoronment, on the road, to play a "must win" type of game. I think this will tell us a lot whether we are going to the playoffs as real division champs, or we are backing into the playoffs and hoping for some luck. If we won the division right now, I think we would play the Steelers in Denver for the first round, then travel to either Baltimore or New England for the second round. This game should give us a relatively good picture of our "playoff readiness."

If you remember. With Cutler we had two games left.

BUFFALO and a divisional against San Diego.

A win vs EITHER was instant playoffs.

Now it's Buffalo again and a divisional against KC.

Granted a win vs Buff isn't an instant spot, but KC still is.

Based on the tiebreakers against most of the wild card teams, a win against Buffalo is still huge.

Make it easy.

Win them both.

Not true.....if Oakland loses to KC......beating Buffalo is entirely MEANINGFUL in terms of clinching the division.

BAL, PIT, and HOU could chit the bed the next two weeks and the Broncos could possibly end up with a bye with two wins.

Who knows what could happen.

We win @ Buffalo, and I think SD is eliminated no matter what they do (from the Division race anyway) Only thing we'd need after that is a win vs KC or any Oakland loss.

Could all be wrapped up early Saturday afternoon, or we'll have to spend another week sweating.
