Off topic I know, but this is ridiculous. It started at 5pm and it's already piling up badly. Expecting 6 - 14 inches. Boulder County is getting 2 inches an hour, Loveland, Boulder are now on high accident alert.

48 degrees in EL Paso but might snow on friday.

I'm retired so could give a crap..

Once I left Denver and moved to Syracuse NY I found out what snow was..

Christmas eve 1979 between midnite and 0600 23.5" not counting drifted snow..

Roads were passable by 1100..

Had enough of that crap moved to LA the next summer and have never looked back..

Now in ELP and although we are going into Monsoon season right now (just in time for the "Sun Bowl").

Glad it is Y'all and not me, be safe on those roads..

Damn, I really miss Denver (and Boulder) winters.

Out here in Seattle, we'll get an epic ice storm every 3 years or so, and maybe some slushy snow now and then. But it's hard to beat the REAL winter storms that Denver and the surrounding areas get year in and year out.

I'm jealous.

Not at all, its spring weather up here in Canada, no chance of snow until at least the new year.

Dagmar...It's Denver. It's Colorado. It's late December. It's suppose to snow.

Technically it would be ridiculous if it was not snowing this time of year. :)

In a couple days it will be like nothing ever happened.

We got the storm before you guys. Not much snow but the cold froze it immediately to the roads. Cold enough it may keep it a little white for Christmas. Would have liked a dump on Christmas Eve but no more snow in the forecast for the next week.

Only a few inches hit up in the High Rockies around where I live yesterday. Really wish we would have got what Denver did so I could board on a good powder day. But, the snow here really isn't snow at all. Not compared to the Midwest. It'll probably be 50 and all melted from Denver in a week.

hey if snow takes a week to melt in denver that means it was a good storm, usually only lasts a couple days in city

The people that go 10 mph with their 4 ways on are just as bad. That wasn't me. I was going 30-40 mph, in a cavalier with new tires which IMO is safe and controllable. When I started driving 15 years ago I probably got into a half dozen snow accidents within a year, so I learned the hard way.

You go 55 mph in this stuff, I don't care who you are, it's not safe. It's stupid. So I got off the damn road. to get away from those people. It only takes 1 hidden patch of ice and you're screwed.

And people that ride other people's asses going downhill with a curve ahead, I hope they die. I hate them with a passion.

My dad thinks he's invincible in this ****. You wanna know what it feels like to have a puckered asshole try riding with him. Driving a Ranger, with no 4WD, going 55-60 mph in the mountains in the snow, passing anyone that has the nerve to not go the speed limit in this stuff, while texting. Love him to death, he doesnt get into accidents, but man I hate riding with him in this stuff.

Took the same amount of time to get to work on I25 today - apparently constantly going 35 vs stop and go traffic is pretty comparable.

You know what really grinds my gears? When the guy on the end of the "flying half V" formation of plow trucks doesn't hit offramps properly, and you try to exit through an extra 10 inches of icy slush. I've talked to my CDOT buddies, and that's some rookie bullshiat right there.

The addendum to that, is the crazy a-hole who sits in that offramp lane, in a RWD bmw, fishtailing his way out of control and swerving into the cleared lanes of traffic.

"get a clue".

Somewhere around 12-14" here... beautiful, and funny that people had their snowmobiles out on the streets. Kids hitting the hills with their sleds and boards.

I woke my oldest up this morning and told her, "here is your snow day you've been wanting!" She didn't think it was funny. ;D

While we do get the occasional dump up here, one of the main things I DON"T miss about Colorado is having to drive in that crap.

When it snows up here everyone has a snow emergency and the news trucks
race out to every frozen overpass and bridge to record how "Treacherous" it is...just look at this slick patch of snow I'm standing on here. Its best to just not go out unless you absolutely have to.

When we got about 18 inches here 3 years ago the whole town was closed down for most of a week. They don't have the plows and enough sanding trucks to clear anything of consequence and the city grinds to a halt....
It's comical at times.

We even got about 5 inches today no issues with roads snowy as it rarely gets cold enough to stick on the roads but on cars, grass, roofs lots of snow.. Might get another 2-3 inches tonight ..

Yeah but there's still ice and snow on the side streets.
therefore i still want a giant dry blower or a heater to melt it so there also the snow and slick ice in the parking lots made me have to walk very carefully so i wouldn't slip.
perhaps some sort of chemical that interacts with snow. or some sort of material that roughs up the ice lol

in case you did not read my post, it would have to eco freindly and no carbon impact..In fact I'd bet the eco freaks would just rather no one drives everyone stays home until the spring or thaw which ever comes first..

BTW the things you describe are rock salt and sand.. one of which is eco friendly the other I'm sure will pollute the rivers to which it runs off in..

Yep and the 77 storm where Louisville/Lafayette/Broomfield got dumped on nothing in Boulder

i remember that storm i was a lil kid just got home from school when it hit . think it was 3 days of nothing but a blizzard.
after that storm passed we had drifts almost over the house.
the storm im talking about hit in march that year. we had to dig the chickens and goats out of the shed some of them died . didn't get back to school for the longest time
