Ronald Reagan, by the same standards that you use to label Obama as a socialist, was a flat-out Red Communist.

STILL NO ANSWER?!? SHOCKING!!!!
What are you, a toddler? Almost ever single day you hear some Republican somewhere raising Reagan from the dead to enhance their own bona fides. Of course, what they have done is create a plastic Reagan that fits whatever their agenda of the day happens to be. This is a little video of the "real" Reagan, who wasn't so opposed to taxing, and certainly was never shy about spending.
None answer. How shocking?!?
You have some metric in mind when you call Obama a socialist.
Applying the same metric to Ronald Reagan results in the unavoidable fact that Reagan was a Communist.
If you don't like that conclusion, think about how you decided Obama was a socialist.

Reagan said to close the tax loopholes. Republicans in Congress have been passing bill after bill to close tax loopholes, which Harry Reid and the Democrats in Senate either vote down or table.
You Democrats (you know who you are) need a reality check.

Ever since the idea of the surtax was introduced weeks ago, Republicans in Congress have railed against it, arguing that it is a direct hit on small-business owners and other job creators
The argument is that many small-business owners report company profits on their individual taxes because of the way their businesses are structured. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., says the surtax would hurt their ability to hire...
NPR says it was unable to find any small-business owner who would testify that Thune's take on the matter was correct. Thune responded by insisting that NPR found "exceptions to the rule." But if the "rule" is correct, why wouldn't a small-business owner want to talk to a reporter about an issue of paramount importance? Why couldn't any of the congressional offices or lobbying outfits that consider this a matter of paramount importance proffer the contact information of anyone willing to offer a testimonial about the adverse conditions this surtax would impose?
Well, either we've entered a new mysterious age in which Americans no longer want to b**** about their jobs and no one told me about it, or we have to consider the possibility that the people who the GOP believe would be adversely affected by this surtax do not, in fact, exist.

The American people are so sick of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama. European leaders recognize the need for fiscal discipline, yet Democrats do not heed the warning. The insults you spew are a reflection of your lack of morality.
One thing that I find amazing, is what a truly awful job governments across the world have been doing on effectively and responsibly handling their budget. It is not acceptable.

It's the governments that drank the "free market" Kool-Aid that are in trouble. Those that didn't are still doing well...
Is European socialism bleeding like a stuck PIG?
The conservatives are yelling from the rooftops that we are witnessing the slow death of European Socialism due to massive spending on social programs. They say the countries bleeding the most red ink are Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain or the P.I.G.S. of Europe as they are known in financial circles.
Greece has run out of money and is now using German money to prevent total collapse. Portugal may be next followed very closely by Spain. Yet the European countries with some of the most socialist - that is, strong social safety networks - are Germany and Denmark, two countries where things are going just fine.
In Germany, for example, every corporation in the country is required to have half of the members of their board of directors appointed by the union representing the workers of the company - the most corporate-intrusive system in all of Europe. In Denmark, not only are healthcare and education free, but they even pay students a monthly stipend to cover food, housing, and books - all the time they're in school all the way up to PhD or MD degrees.
So what differentiates Germany and Denmark from Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain? Germany and Denmark never fully drank the so-called "free trade" kool-aid, and thus both have strong manufacturing sectors. Across America you'll find German cars and Danish wind turbines, as well as across those nations themselves. But walk into any store in Spain, Greece, Ireland, or Portugal and you'll find row after row of Chinese-made goods.
Twenty years of insane flat-earth free-trade policies have disemboweled the economies of the United States and numerous European countries. The US, for example, has gone from 20% GDP in manufacturing before the election of Reagan to just 11% now. Countries that don't make things don't create real wealth, and thus must turn to Goldman Sachs to help them borrow money.
And Goldman hasn't treated Greece - or the US - all that well. The reason why China is not having this problem - and neither are South Korea or Taiwan or Singapore, all countries with strong social safety nets - is because they're strongly protecting their own manufacturing sectors.
The way we used to do before Reagan's presidency and then Bill Clinton's throwing us to the tender mercies of transnational corporations by turning US trade policy over to NAFTA and the WTO. Time to reconsider protectionism.

The Obama administration has an agenda to fundamentally transform this nation. They enacted spending increases to do just that, but did not have the political will (even within their own party) to pass tax increases.
What has happened over the last 3 years is malicious and completely irresponsible. The Democrat party is culpable, and continues to show a complete lack of recognition to the situation at hand. It is unforgiveable.

If you had reasons, and applied them to Reagan, then Reagan would be a Communist.

The Congress consists of both the GOP controlled House of Representatives and the Democrat controlled Senate, you know that.
There has been significant legislature coming out of the House that would have brought government spending back in line with current levels of taxation. The reprehensible Harry Reid has shut down anything coming to the Senate floor. The only notable legislation that the Senate has even passed is the National Defense Authorization Act, which is a blatant usurpation of civil liberties.
The people voted for Barack Obama and a Democrat super-majority, because they believed that they would act upon the best interests of the American citizens. That has not happened. Obama has increased Defense spending since he has been in office. I do not think Newt Gingrich is the answer, but I know for a fact that Obama's headlong sprint towards bankruptcy is a far more impending danger.
