I don't understand why people are so impressed by this Klosterman article.. a bunch of horse**** if you ask me.

People buy into his nonsense for the same reason they bought into the Tebow anti-hype coming into the nfl... because the "smart people" were saying it...

Maybe because he's the only guy who has tried to peel back the layers of why this is really happening? He's a sociologist in many ways and always tries to understand reasoning for things people accept as simple truth.

Sorry if this is too much for you.

Reason? Social understanding? MacGruder has no time for these things.

Any article not stating, clearly and unequivocally, "TEBOW IS NUMBER 1!!11!1!" is to be ignored and mocked.

To hell with curiosity. The world is flat.

Note that it has been guys like MacGruder and Broncbow who reacted negatively to a thoughtful look at what makes Tebow a divisive figure. Short of Klosterman declaring it a matter of "dooshes being haterz," I don't think any write up on the topic had a chance to appeal to them.

this guy doesn't peel back the onion at all imo.. he just added another pretentious layer that didn't need to be there... tebow is a great player.. why can't people just accept that? because they don't understand how and claim others are the stupid ones not them.. now that is projecting....

I don't understand why people are so impressed by this Klosterman article.. a bunch of horse**** if you ask me.

I love how his first sentence states he watched the game and the next sentence had me wondering whether or not he a actually watched it at all.

Then trying to read it was like trying to listen to someone pile on a bunch of syllyables why really saying nothing at all. WHAT A POMPUS ASS.

I love HOW his murderer metaphor had nothing to do with Tim at all. It reminded me of Billy Madison and the puppy metaphor.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OEjNnLpejs&feature=player_embedded

"People once thought the earth was flat. 1 But here's a more complex scenario: If you were living in Greece during the sixth century, and there was no way to deduce what the true shape of the earth was, and there was no way to validate or contradict the preexisting, relatively universal belief that the world..."

Actually all they had to do is got out to the horizon and notice how the line of sight was decreasing in height by the distance traveled. You could actually use that equation to not only tell the eart was round, but how big it was. Columbus knew this... College, highschool tebow proved he was not flat... what a stoopid doosh

The last sentence really sums up the Tebow Thing and it has everything and very little to do with football.

"He is making people wonder if they should try to believe things they don't actually believe."

You cannot marry boobs unless he leaves boobs as collateral, in which case some "fooling around" is permitted.

The obscured truth, the "mystery" and unexplainable thing about Tebow is that he keeps kicking everybody's ass.

He's good. He can throw it. This will all seem funny one day. But I suspect it will take years to work through the "Tebow learned to throw with his legendary work ethic!"

He cold always throw -- the problem is his mechanics from the feet up to the arm are too slow for the NFL game, and he's had a learning curve to run NFL plays. Huge shocker.

Buying into what?

All he's arguing is that Tebow's defying statistics, along with his personal faith, might have implications for skeptics.

Sorry if this is too much for you.

What layers?

People who hate or dislike Tebow fall into two groups, with some overlap:

1. People who hate his religious beliefs and/or the way he is so open about them.

2. People who don't like the way he looks throwing and/or don't like his background as a spread option QB.

People who love or like Tebow fall into three groups, again with overlap:

1. People who share his religious beliefs and identify with him as a Christian.

2. People who were fans of his in college, and have carried that over to the NFL.

3. People who like his style of play, see that he has potential as a passer, and value his out-of-this-world intangibles.

There are no layers to this issue. It's simply a matter of perspective.

I need some clarity here....what exactly does "boob collateral" consist of? And when we fool around (how many cameras should I bring ;D ), I need to know the limits so I can totally push them :yayaya:

Are we talkin first base? Second Base? Ground rule doubles allowed? Any form of "hide the tip, just for a minute, just to see how it feels"?

I gotta have some parameters

That is pretty damn simple. to make it simpler the haters hate him for the same reason the lovers love him, because he WINS~!!

His assertion is that Tebow is winning with smoke and mirrors and nothing really tangible..

He couldn't be more wrong. I honestly don't see how someone who even remotely studied the Tebow phenomenon could come to that conclusion. especially someone who pretends to have given it as much thought as this guy..

that makes it all a bunch of pretentious horse **** IMHO. It's like Steven A. Smith that went to a much better school but learned even less.

I guarantee there is a huge faction of people who fall into neither of these two groups and still hate/dislike Tebow simply due to the nonstop media barrage.

Fans of others teams who don't care about his religion or his throwing style are probably sick as hell of the circus, and justifiably so.

A LONG read that the short bus riders should definately avoid, while they continue to wallow in their ignorance.... :~ohyah!:

Nice article with several good points, though I certainly don't agree with all of his conclusions.
Made me think a few times though.

No matter the many Tebow slots available, some of us still don't fit into any of them completely. :approve:

Thanks, I still enjoyed the read...^5

I'm with you, I didn't like it either. It's decent prose, but the point of the article boils down to the old "faith vs skeptics" tale which we've heard since the draft.
