View Full Version : Tebow Night Football in Jacksonville

MNF has been filled with Tebow talk and Tebow references...and I missed the first three quarters.

Some highlights:

-"Te-bow!" chants from the crowd.
- Several different fans holding up signs saying some variation of "Trade for Tebow"
- John Gruden talking about Tim Tebow, John Fox, and the Broncos on a few different occasions.
- Tebow highlights showing his game-winning plays

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Its nice to be the team that has Tebow. Dude's a star. Not only is he a star, but at the same time he's an underdog. He's also a good dude who you want your kid to look up to.

I have had it on in the background and they have brought it up when it was relevant (all those empty seats!) and just when Gruden gets bored.

When Billy Volek is playing, I'd rather talk Tebow too though!

Nothing he said isn't true. After being a joke for 5 years we're beginning to be nationally relevant again with a great kid at QB. We could be the Jags with empty stadiums and nothing to play for. Would you prefer that?

At one point, Gabbert scrambled, auto-fumbled the ball, and slapped it out of bounds.

The small crowd started chanting "Te-bow"!

At the beginning of the year the Jags should have done all they could to get Tebow in a trade. I was so glad they didn't, but for them it was more than stupid to not do it. If they had that stadium would have been filled to the brim and overflowing tonight.

I've been watching the whole game and only heard tebow's name only a couple of times, mostly talking about last weeks game in san diego and the playoff race.

The dumbest thing I heard was gruden in the first quarter say "Rivers is still the best QB in the AFC" ? I like Gruden cause he evaluates players unbiased but wtf

Jacksonville's empty stadium + Blaine Gabbert + what there is of a fanbase clamoring for a QB on another team = as depressing atmosphere you'll see this year in the NFL outside Lucas Oil Field.

They should have drafted Tebow.

It was definitely tardulous to let someone else draft him.

To be fair to the Jaguars, picking Tebow at 12 was very early. As badly as the Broncos were criticized for taking him at 25, I can only imagine the field day people like Mel Kiper would have had if he was picked at 12.

Either they or Buffalo would have took him the 2nd round probably.

On a similar note, its pretty crazy that Tebow is getting first billing over a QB who is having arguably the greatest season a QB has ever had. Tebow just got an extended segment on the post-MNF sportscenter before they gave Rodgers' Packers a short blurb before changing subjects.

You draft a QB at 12 that fills your stadium seats and every one of those fans buys a jersey ......... I don't see a problem with that and I think the Jag fans would be happy with an 8-8 season if they could cheer for Tebow.

Let me also say like I said in that media thread once every few days I go to youtube and just search Tebow and sort it by upload date just mostly to see how many new ones are added a day and it's insane...

Like here's one added today with Bill Cosby mentioning Tebow as he does PR for a upcoming show in Denver.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/DneHIDDFMpY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And Bill ask his Denver fans to "ask" Tim Tebow to help him out and I guess have god make the weather be nice or some crap ...

But it's just insane the coverage Tebow is getting and if he progresses and keeps winning we should embrace it.

I personally think it sucks that Tebow is going to be a Jag.

The fact that he keeps winning, new ownership, geographical influence, etc.....Jax is going to way overpay on their trade offer & Denver will have no choice but to accept.

Sucks.

The difference is that Tebow is new and different as a QB with a special personality. If he becomes a stud QB, he might be like Elway which wasnt quite like MJ on a national level. In 3 years, Tebow will be another star like Rodgers who is not MJ. Big difference in those two. The media hype is huge no doubt but it takes a lot to be on the same level as Jordan for a long period of time.

Oh...and... know what? Had said "in-over-his-head hotshot" not traded a 2010 first round pick to move up in the 2009 draft so that he could reach and pick an undersized CB that he let go less than 2 years later... the trades in 2010 would have been unnecessary.

If I remember correctly, we had already traded down twice when we jumped back in the first round and grabbed Tebow. In all honesty, he was there for the taking. It just took the "one team" that wanted him bad enough.

For all the crap we give McD, and the arguments about the players he took in each spot, his work to trade away/stockpile picks was pretty spot on in that draft. Its actually starting to look like the Broncos may have come away with two first-rounders during the first round (and not backups).

Yeah, I've heard that the reason McDaniels reached for Tebow was 'cause he thought Belichick wanted him in the 2nd round. I daresay Belichick isn't sorry he got Gronkowski instead.

Oh... and the Seahawks, who got a 2010 first round pick for a 2009 second-rounder (and who dictated to the inept rookie HC which of our first rounders it was going to be) .. were a "non-divisional non-conference team".

With that kind of trade bait... if Belicheat had truly wanted Tebow, Tebow would be a Patriot now. (hint: the Pats have Tom Brady; they don't need Tim Tebow).

So if you'll buy the idea that Belichick wanted Tebow, I have some oceanfront property for sale in Tempe.

When you put media morons, idiot commentators, or NFL 'talent evaluators' like that twit sMel Kipper in charge
of who you take in a draft,,,,, well, then you deserve whatever you end up with. thwack

For example, sMel was one of those that claimed that Tebow should be a 3-4th round pick.
Branford/Clausen 1st, McCoy 2nd, Tebow 3rd or 4th. GENIUS! :~ohyah!:

Hell, Elway and Fox just a very few weeks ago, were wishing that Jax HAD taken Tebow instead of Denver.
Now they are trying to get me out of the drivers seat on the Tebow Bandwagon....:bandwagon

Why is that? That 6-1 and 7-3 and Bronco Natl. relevance might be causing their stomachs to churn enough
to jump start their slow brains.

Because now anyone with half a brain and a moles foresight can see how good Tebow actually is,
and project where he might be able to take any team that surrounds him with some talent and effort.

Elway - Compared To - Tebow

4 - 6 ---- Won - Loss --- 7 - 3 (4-14 with 'Best Chance To Win' Orton)

47.1 ---- Comp. % ------ 48.3%

152.9 - Pass YPG ----- 162.6

6 / 14 -- TD/Int Ratio -- 15 / 4

51.8 --------- PER --------- 85.9

So yep, John certainly KNOWS what it takes to be a great NFL QB,
he just seems to be prematurely senile when it comes to remembering how HE started.

John Was Way Worse Than Tebow,,, IN EVERY SINGLE MEASUREABLE QB CATEGORY!
And that's before you add in Tebow's 695 rushing yds, 5.6 ypc + 9 TD's to only 2 LPF's.

~ He can't throw the ball with his WEAK INACCURATE arm.
~ He can't take a snap from under center, ONLY FROM SHOTGUN.
~ He can't MAKE ALL of the NFL THROWS from the pocket.
~ He can't even make a HAND OFF to the RB.
~ And if he tries to run it like he did in college, HE'LL GET KILLED!
I'm calling it the IDIOT'S COMMENT LIST.... Please feel free to add to it.

I'd put Tebow's 1ST 10 NFL Starts Offensive Output up against ANY QB to ever play the game.

Total Offense = 365 for 2,403 yds, 6.6 yds/play, 24 TD's, 6 T-O's (4/2) for a 7 - 3 W/L record.

Could someone check on this for us?
Is Tim Tebow the ONLY QB in NFL HISTORY to EVER have both of these standings, much less in the same season?
#1 in the NFL in YPC - 5.7 ypc
#1 in the NFL in TD/Int Ratio - 10 to 1

Saint John went on to win 2 SB's and get into the HoF with that chitty of a start and all the help that the Broncos could give him.

So, where might Tim end up, IF the Bronco would give HIM their full and unconditional support for a change?
The majority of the fans bought in long ago, and the players bought in as soon as he was the starter.
Makes both of those groups smarter than the group that owns and operates the team imoho. 8')

The FUTURE comes with NO guarantees, but I'm liking Tim's first 10 NFL starts just fine.... :charge:

There is rumor that prehaps the Jaguars will make a trade offer to Denver in the offseason for Tebow. That the Jags really need to do something to get the fans back going to the games, and Tebow is a hometown boy.

Question is.. what to the Jags offer and what are the Broncos willing to take.

I am guessing Tebow helps the Broncos make the playoffs this season, he is worth 3 picks.. a #1, #2 and #4.

If Tebow gets named to the pro-bowl.. turn that #2 into another #1 pick.

Broncos make the playoffs and it won't happen south of a Hershel Walker type deal. Broncs have been in the wilderness too long to throw the guy who finally took them to the promised land overboard.

We lose the next 4 and fall out... maybe they'd work a deal.

I love Tebow and despise Rivers but I'm not sure this is really all that dumb. Rivers hasn't had a good year but Tebow still has a lot to prove to be considered a better QB than Rivers. Let's not get carried away.

The thing that makes it dumb isn't Timmy so much as Tom Brady.
