I have long argued that the impact of the Affordable Care Act is not nearly as big of a deal as opponents would have you believe. At the end of the day, the law is – in the main – little more than a successful effort to put an end to some of the more egregious health insurer abuses while creating an environment that should bring more Americans into programs that will give them at least some of the health care coverage they need.
There is, however, one notable exception – and it’s one that should have a long lasting and powerful impact on the future of health care in our country.
That would be the provision of the law, called the medical loss ratio, that requires health insurance companies to spend 80% of the consumers’ premium dollars they collect—85% for large group insurers—on actual medical care rather than overhead, marketing expenses and profit. Failure on the part of insurers to meet this requirement will result in the insurers having to send their customers a rebate check representing the amount in which they underspend on actual medical care.

They call it "Obamacare" to hide what it really is: Individual Mandate Insurance, a product of right-wing politicians and think tanks, especially Heritage and Cato.
Gingrich first backed the concept in 1993 (http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/gingrich-health-care-insurance/2011/05/15/id/396426), “I am for people, individuals — exactly like automobile insurance — individuals having health insurance and being required to have health insurance,” he said on Meet the Press. He supported the idea in 2007 (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/12/newt-gingrich-individual-mandate-romney_n_861017.html) — writing in a Des Moines Register op-ed, “Personal responsibility extends to the purchase of health insurance. Citizens should not be able to cheat their neighbors by not buying insurance” — and again in 2008: “Finally, we should insist that everyone above a certain level buy coverage (or, if they are opposed to insurance, post a bond).”
Romney himself pointed this out in a debate, saying, “Actually Newt, we got the idea of the individual mandate from you…and the Heritage Foundation.” “I absolutely did work (http://thinkprogress.org/health/2011/10/19/347488/top-6-health-care-myths-from-tuesdays-cnn-republican-presidential-debate/) with the Heritage Foundation against Hillarycare,” Gingrich conceded.

I'm happy with anything but the current system. Such a waste of money.

agreed we need to dumb the current system , but Health care providers and insurance companies need to come up with a plan , or government come up with a plan that doesnt penalize , That is a slippery slope

Woman Who Attacked ObamaCare Apologizes After Breast Cancer Diagnosis (http://jezebel.com/5865791/woman-who-attacked-obamacare-apologizes-after-breast-cancer-diagnosis)
Today in a L.A. Times op-ed, a woman who was so angered by President Obama's healthcare plan that she switched her registration from Democrat to Independent and altered her Obama bumpers sticker to read "Got Nope" is apologizing to the President.

I agree...this can't be said enough. I just don't think this law addresses the cost issue.
