Schefter said employees have been told the team has been sold.

Heard they aren't moving though.

Sold to whom...and where?

Just to recap -

Del Rio fired.

Team employees informed that the team is sold to Shahid Khan

Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com reports that Jaguars G.M. Gene Smith got a new three-year contract from owner Wayne Weaver.

So the Jaguars have fired their coach, the team has been sold, and the general manager got a new contract.

Jaguars message boards would be melting down, if they had fans.

Amazing that if they had drafted Tebow, the Jags would have removed the tarps covering the upper sections, the team would probably be doing well (MJD and Tebow? WHOA!), the owner would be swimming in money and not wanting to sell because of the #15 Teal Jerseys flying off the shelves and Del Rio would still be the coach.

I'm glad Tebow is using his powers for good (aka the Broncos).

That's not how merchandise profit sharing works...

* Weaver started out by confirming the firing of Del Rio
* Mel Tucker is interim head coach for the remainder of the season
* Gene Smith's contract was extended for 3 years
* Lastly, Weaver announced the selling of the team
* Main motivation for selling team was finding someone that has the same passion of keeping the team in Jacksonville
* Weaver met Khan five years ago
* Weaver reiterated throughout that the team will remain in Jacksonville
* Khan is buying 100% of the team
* Nothing in writing that states the team has to stay in Jacksonville, but Wayne said "there isn't a doubt in his mind that the team will stay in Jacksonville"
* Turned down offers from people that wanted to move the team to LA
* Weaver will remain living in Jacksonville

Ha! And yet this myth continues to be perpetuated.

I will say, having star players puts butts in seats, including luxury boxes, and that revenue isn't shared.

It was just hyperbole, but more fans does = more money, especially more fans in attendance on gameday.

Nope. There will never be another team in LA. It's a ripoff for everyone involved.

Absolutely no question. The team is worthless in Jacksonville. This is the Seattle Supersonics all over again. In two years the owner will be like "well.. we really tried to make it work. Sorry guys *shrugs*".

I'd be torn. We'd get more Bronco games here, but it's nice to go to a game free sometimes (there are a lot of people who can't give away tix this year, if I had been home this weekend I could have went to the painful Jags game for the price of buying some nachos and beer).

North Kroean Jaguars? And then they disappear into prison until a swap is negotiated for the puppet that played Kim Jong Il in Team America so that it can be executed.

I always got the impression that the Jaguars were an afterthought in Jacksonville. But the LA Jaguars?...Wouldnt that force some changes to the AFC South and AFC West if Jax moves?

I am guessing it would cost almost 1 billion to move a team to LA. First you'll need financial assistance from the league. Then you'll need financial assistance from taxpayers(good luck) and banks to move to a place that won't sellout despite being around 7 million people.

It would sell out if they put the stadium in the right place.

I thought that some city near LA was putting up land and money to build a "multiuse" sports stadium which appears ready made for an NFL team.

Last I read that was falling through. It's also way out of town in San Bernidino or something like that.

The proposed stadium would be in downtown L.A. Next to the Staples Center.

I'd put it right where the Harbor and San Diego Freeways cross.

There has to be a hick in Jacksonville thinking, wow a Black Mayor and now a Pakistani owns my football team.

I can just imagine what he is thinking too.

Am I going to be able to drink beer at the stadium any more?
I wonder if my girl has to wear a Burka?
