View Full Version : Broncos Among Top Pro Bowl Vote Getters

With the season just passing the halfway mark, several Broncos are in the hunt for Pro Bowl bids, according to the fan-vote figures that the NFL released this week. Fan voting has been open since Oct. 25th and will end on Dec. 19 at the conclusion of the Monday Night Football matchup between the Steelers and 49ers.

Punter Britton Colquitt, safety Brian Dawkins, linebacker Von Miller and quarterback Tim Tebow (lol) are amongst the top-five vote getters in the AFC for their respective positions.

Tebow has led the Broncos to a 4-1 record since taking over as a starter this season, while Miller leads all rookies with eight sacks on the season. For his success, Miller was recently named Sports Illustrated’s midseason defensive rookie of the year.

Like Tebow and Miller, this would be Colquitt’s first Pro Bowl if elected, and he’s making a strong case for himself. Entering Week 11, the third-year punter out of Tennessee was one of only three NFL players to rank in the top-five in both gross and net punting average through nine games.

If the quartet is selected, Dawkins can show them the ropes. The 16th-year player has been to eight Pro Bowls and is in contention for his ninth, which would tie him with former Broncos safety John Lynch for second all-time in the NFL for Pro Bowl selections as a safety.

The teams will be announced at 5 p.m. MST on a special NFL Total Access 2012 Pro Bowl Selection Show on NFL Network.

The game will be played on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.http://blog.denverbroncos.com/denverbroncos/broncos-among-top-pro-bowl-vote-getters/

Well I don't know about pro bowl level but I am sure glad he is a starter for us. Dawkins is having a great year he throws his body on the line for us.

Champ Bailey is still a pro bowl cornerback -- hopefully, the players and coaches will recognize that, even if the fans don't.

Unfortuantely, any of our players that get picked to play in the pro bowl won't even get to play in the game due to their preparation for Super Bowl 46

Yeah because Tebow will come out in the pro bowl and start running all over the place throttling a bunch of hung over NFC defenders who don't want to hit anyone. :)

Agreed. From day 1 he's been our team's MVP.

Frankly, with Schaub now out he probably should.

This year Brady's the only one who deserves it in the AFC. After that probably the rapist in Pitt. Who then? Rivers in his worst year ever? Andy Dalton who's winning on even more defensive play than Tebow?

Going to come down to Tebow, Dalton, and Fitzpatrick in my opinion. Two will likely go since Brady or Ben will be in the superbowl likely.

Remember when Cutler made it and everyone used it against him. Popularity contest this Pro Bowl. Colquitt and Miller All Pro considersation for sure. Champ 2nd or 3rd team All Pro.

Fitzy has been a bust the last few weeks. Tebow is winning the same way Young won it as a rook.

Tebow may end up being an alternate....but selections are made by players, coaches and the press. Fans only get a partial vote.

Tebow will get the fan vote........but, not the players, coaches or media.

I would say that depends on what happens in the next 6 games.

Was about to say the same thing. But I just don't know if Tebow will progress enough as a passer for the remainder of the season. He could if him and the coaches are working on it. I sure hope he does.

I don't even know what they would do with Tebow in the Pro Bowl. Would they try to run a different scheme if played or would they make him sit in there, play pocket ball, and look totally out of place?

Name 5 QBs in the AFC that deserve it more.

Brady, Big Ben, Hasselbeck, Flacco, Dalton, Fitzpatrick, Flacco, Sanchez have all put up much better numbers. Going to have to complete more then 45% of his passes to get coaches to vote for him.

There's no way Dalton depends on the Bengals defense as much as Tebow has the last three games.

I like Warners point when he said I always heard the option could not be run because the QB could not take the hits. Now they want to say it won't work because it's a passing league. No one really knows if it will work or not but they don't want it to. Defenses don't like playing assignment defense they want to attack.

People don't go to the Pro Bowl based on one game. Just because the Broncos won the game, doesn't mean Tebow is the better QB. I don't think either of them go to the Pro Bowl.

I imagine that the only people that voted for him were Bronco fans and Florida fans (and yes, I voted for him but I admit it's a homer pick and that Tebow shouldn't be under realistic consideration to be selected for the Pro Bowl).

Dawkins being selected would be more of a career pick, and not based on this year. No way should he be in the top 5 either.

Colquitt has a really good chance, and Miller should go. Champ deserves more votes, but not sure if he deserves to go or not...

Very good point. Asked Elvis this week what it is like to play a team that runs so much. Elvis said just that. It's tough because we want to get to the QB not stay in our gaps. Just look at Eric Smith, screwed up his assignment and Jets lose the game
