I think we've found a gem in Broderick Bunkley. He continues to be a solid force on the d-line, and I was watching him tonight. He had a solid game.

Definitely a keeper and someone to build that DL around

I'm thinking Philly and their crappy run defense is probably thinking they made a mistake about now....

I hope we sign him to a long term contract at the end of the season. He shouldn't be too expensive yet and definitely is a keeper.

Ayers is finally becoming pretty solid against the run too.

I can see why the Eagles weren't happy with him based on where he was drafted because of the fact that he seems to have zero pass rush ability. But for us he's just what the doctor ordered. A pure run stuffer.

Haha, and the Eagles need him badly right now.

When we get Vickerson back next year, we will have : Dumervil, Ayers, Bunkley, Thomas, Vickerson, and McBean - I think that is a pretty solid d-line, actually.

I hope we get a CB in the 1st round this year...

Kind of makes you forget that we brought in an injury proned Warren. Damn, I brought it up. One less worry for the 2012 draft.

Warren is 34 and coming off consecutive injury-ridden seasons and Bunkley and Thomas are FA. Adding another quality tackle to the rotation is an absolute must.

Yep it's still a need. We've got to sign Bunkley asap though. No doubt about it.

Mebane would have been a great add, in combination with Bunkley, Thomas and McBean. Warren being healthy and you have a good rotation inside.

Oh well though.

I agree but we wont be replacing Bunkley is what I meant. Why I wanted DT in the draft and we got zero. Of course I am happy we went someone in the front 7 (Von Miller) then some draftee at say cornerback.

People were upset we didn't sign Mebane to a big deal. Not looking so bad now.

We need to lock these guys up though. We should be doing that now.

See Chris's post a few up from yours. We had the money for both.

Von Miller has had a LOT of success blitzing on Bunkleys shoulder. Bunkley just blows up the gap and Miller comes racing through. It's a really cool combination. McBean has also shown the ability to open a lane for Miller.

You forgot Ty Warren.

You know that Warren is watching this stuff go down and wishing he was out there with that D.

I hope we keep Warren next season.

He's great for a two down role to stuff the run and keep the other DTs fresh. He's not an every down player at this stage of his career, but when healthy he's one of the best DTs against the run.

Vickerson, not so much.

Vickerson is good against the pass, so that would be a good complement.

I am starting to like the play of our D-line...even McBean...and I never thought that was possible. Bunkley has been pretty key though and exactly what the Dr. ordered for this defense. Night and day difference between our soft middle of last year.I actually have confidence in our D. THAT has been a long time in coming!

The reality is though that Miller is making all of those guys better since teams are keying and worrying about him and not paying as much attention to the other guys. But it is great they are taking advantage of that and making plays, which has been years since the Bronco DL has been making plays.

this is it
its why he doesnt value DTs as much as other positions, he gets good DT play without elite talent at the position

Thomas, Bunkley, and even McBean are all playing well
I am totally fine with adding another one in there via the draft, but our DT situation right now is actually ok

for once in what seems like 5 years

Bunkley and Thomas is a pretty solid duo in the middle against the run, and somehow Ryan Mcbean is not playing like **** at all - I have to give some serious props to Nunnely, Allen and Fox for getting these guys to play like they belong in the league.

McBean is stepping it up, too.

But Bunkley is playing like a solid starter/potential Pro Bowler.

Agreed. I also have to believe that these guys, as well as all the others, have stepped it up because they are truly inspired by Tebow. I'm in no way trying to shovel all the credit on Tebow's plate but this is exactly what all the greats say about how leadership can bring the best out of your teammates.

People start practicing harder, showing up early, staying late, getting together and watching film, talking football, and then playing harder for 60 minutes on Sunday. Broncos just haven't really been a team for a long time.

Since when do you know how much a player has left? Look at Brian Waters who people said was done, now hes turning in another great yr for a new team. Look at what players like Mebane got from Sea and that is probably what he will get.

Mebane got 5 yrs 25 million, so Bunk may get slightly more or less depending but probably around 5 mil a yr.

It's been longer than that. I think this speaks more to coaching than the talent, imo, although Bunkley is an upgrade over what we've had in recent years.

Not to crap on the parade here, but we have not faced a real good running team for a while guys.

Oakland is pretty good at it and michael bush went for like 120 on us. WITHOUT RUNDMC.

Charles is out in KC, Miami has nothing anyway, Detroit just passed over us and Shonne green got hurt with ****ty sanchez to try and save the day.

I love the way they are playing and LOVE LOVE me some Bunkley!!! Primo!

But we need to understand that we will face a REAL threat this week. AD is coming, and if we can shut him down pretty good, then we can talk. He is a man amongst Tebows.

1. Who do you think we resign between Bunkley, McBean, and Thomas?
2. You can't give each guy 5 years $25M (like Mebane)...
3. Do you keep Ty Warren next year at $4M?
4. Or do you pick up a 1st round DT (Devon Still)?

I say mid-level would be a good deal for HAM and Big Vick. I think Bunkley deserves about 5 years 20 mil or around that area.

See Chris's post a few up from yours. We had the money for both.

Mebane not really playing that well. Not sure he is really a 5 mil a yr guy. Maybe I am not expert but he doesn't make a lot of plays in the backfield either. Also just because Bowlen has money under the cap doesn't mean he should spend it. We want the team to be fiscally sound and not give money away to players that dont earn it. That creates bad chemistry. Now we have some money to resign Bunkley next offseason because Bowlen is getting his house in order.

He threw money away under shanny and I don't blame him for not throwing it away now. The good teams don't sign players just because they have the money for it.

Well if they bring in more dlineman some of the holdovers won't make it. Just have to see how it plays out.
