SERIES HISTORY: 102nd regular-season meeting. Chiefs lead series, 55-46. Kansas City has won nine of the last 12 games in the annual divisional matchup at Arrowhead Stadium, dating back to the 2000 season. Denver's last victory on the road at KC came on Dec. 6, 2009, a 44-13 blowout that featured 245 rushing yards by the Broncos — led by Correll Buckhalter's 113-yard effort.

- Broncos CB Champ Bailey, coming off a two-interception performance with a fumble recovery against Oakland, vs. Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe, who has 23 catches for 354 yards and two TDs over the last four games — Bowe was on a major roll last season when the teams met for a second time. He had 13 TDs in the seven previous games. He was only the fifth receiver all-time with at least 25 receptions with 450 yards, seven TDs and three 100-yard games in the three games leading up to the Denver matchup last December. But Bailey shadowed Bowe all over the field and held him to zero catches on just three targets. Bailey has tailed Calvin Johnson, Vincent Jackson and Brandon Marshall this year to mainly positive results, winning the battle with the latter two and giving up a long TD to the former. Bowe could find No. 24 all over him again Sunday. :~ohyah!:

-McGahee leads the NFL in average rushing yards per start (103.3)

-The Broncos were 1-11 in their last dozen road games before their trip to Miami last month. Now, with wins over the Dolphins and Oakland Raiders, the team has captured back-to-back away games for the first time since taking three straight during Denver's stunning 6-0 start to Josh McDaniels' short-lived coaching stint in 2009.

GAME PLAN: Denver ran for 299 yards using the read-option last week, which surprised the Raiders and helped the Broncos counter the aggressive eight- and nine-man fronts they were regularly seeing with Tim Tebow at quarterback.

-The Chiefs' 19th-ranked rush defense likely will get another dose until they prove they can stop it.

-The Broncos' defense is starting to get accustomed to defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's scheme and with Elvis Dumervil now nearing full health, will try to unleash the blitz to prompt mistakes by Matt Cassel, who has been inconsistent (nine TDs, nine INTs).

BY THE NUMBERS: 671 — Number of rushing yards the last three weeks by Denver, a total that ranks first in the NFL within that span. The 223.7-yard average is the sixth-best three-game total in team history and tops since the 2000 season.

"Those plays aren't the ones you necessarily take the hits. That's a little bit of a myth, too. You don't necessarily get hit as much on sort of read plays as people think. I think there are more hits just sitting in the pocket."-Tim Tebow

"I think it can be something that can help us going forward, but we have to do some other things — like getting the ball to receivers. We have to get more passes in. It's good to run the ball, and I'm a running back. I probably shouldn't be saying it, but there are going to be some times when you're going to need to pass"-Willis McGahee

"When you have faster people it usually lends to having a better special teams group because special teams is all about space, and you take the average person off last year's team, size-wise, we're not quite as big, but speed-wise we're faster." –Jeff Rodgers

"Bunkley's done a good job since Day One. He loves to play the game. He's very active. He's got good leverage. He's relentless, even with two people on him, he's definitely helped us and helped us get better against the run."-John Fox

"There's not many teams, probably no teams, that do what we do, so you can't really watch film on it to see it, so it is all, kind of, just feeling it out and trying to coach one another.". -Eric Decker

Word on the street is that Elway & Fox are planning to yank Tebow unless he scores a TD on Denver's opening series AND completes at least 60% of his passes!

Talk about a short leash...

Talk about a short leash...

Planning to yank him, when? During this game or after?

Where did you get this "word"?

If true, it's not just a short leash, it speaks of some other underlying concern.

Perhaps the Broncos have seen enough from Tim Tebow, aside from complete and total domination from the QB position, ala Aaron Rodgers. Perhaps they realize that giving Tebow a full off season and training camp with McCoy is the best thing to get him started towards the playoff run in 2012 and that further victories this year only make getting the much needed future game changers all the more difficult.

Perhaps not.

I am gonna go ahead and call this one for the Donks and here's why...

I fully expect the NFL teams to catch on to the option but I don't think it will be for a couple of weeks.... I expect the Chiefs have worked on that all week and will cheat defenders up to stop it, If Tebow can hit some targets, he could have his biggest day passing...

The Cheaps are the only team I dislike more than the Donks

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

We should get 24Champ to include Tebow's weekly verse at the start of the game threads....

the announcers have got it wrong. they think the run game is designed to mask Tebow's deficiencies as a passer. i think something else is going on. i think McCoy is serving notice that we will run the ball until our opponents show us they can stop us. and at the same time, throwing in a bunch of wrinkles to confuse the defense as well... like the triple option.
