For hitting the QB in the chest?

Old Dude

He took a couple extra steps before contact on one of his rushes and I remember the announcers mentioning that - on that particular play - he'd probably be getting some mail from the league office.

Probably a correct call.

I understand that it was a late hit, can't remember if he was flagged for it or not, but why would a late hit, which would have been a legal tackle if not late, draw a fine?

They should review the hits on Tebow and fine the refs for incompetence.

Nothing should be a fine vs the raiders and of course in al davises honor, ( he would have wanted it that way)

Aaron Curry was fined $20,000 for his hit on Tebow, $5,000 more than Von Miller. Clearly this is a little known Tebow Effect.

I think the player taking the illegal hit should get the money.

The broncos should pay him an extra $20k per game just to give out a little extra punishment to the opposing QB.

just do like the Steelers do with Harrison's cheap shotting ass. pay his fines for him.

also 20K for a guy making 5+ million a season is crap.

in the long run the league needs to start taking game checks away from the cheap shot artists.

or even better, keep the cheap shot giving player off the field until the player he cheap shotted can return to the field. that would straighten Harrison's dirty ass out

Yep, helmet to chin and not even a flag....................but heh least Tebow kept his cool and didn't complain like a little bitch like Brady about every little thing.

these are days of the QB cant be touched At All. and oyeah neither can recievers. these are the days of the last team to have the ball down by two points can drive 40-50 yards to kick the game winner.
its hard to explain to the young-uns how special "The Drive' was back in the day.

Same article reports Ryan Clark was fined 40,000 and Ray Lewis 20,000 ... yet Von was the headline?

Do they ever fine players when the play didn't draw a flag? If so, I don't know why the hit Tebow took on the chin didn't draw a fine, too.

Fines seem to be just about as random as the game time officiating.

Because he's a known rookie, competing for DROY, and it's his first one. Some of those other guys getting fined is like saying Chief fans could use a good dentist, or volcanoes should be avoided, or great white sharks don't make good pets.

Come on folks. Anyone with an ounce of objectivity knew that was going to result in a fine. He took two steps and led with the crown of his helmet, and drove him into the ground.

That's a pretty easy call in today's NFL, and i would absolutely expect the same if that happened to Tebow.

Just love the fact that profootball talk leads with the same headline when Curry got the larger fine. Its such a bias that's it's laughable!!!

Yeah I called this when it happened. He took like three extra steps.

No, he did not take 5+ steps (2 that are legal, plus 3 more). He took maybe one and a half extra steps. More like ONE extra step. And it was a solid tackle. He didn't pull up in time, young guy.. but deserving of a fine? Hardly. They are puss-a-fying the NFL. They are making it so player think twice when making a hit, which will make crappy play, and even more dangerous situations. It's a CONTACT SPORT. This commissioner needs to go. For all his "improvements" to the NFL, he is making it into a nancy-pants, wussified flag football game. To hell with that.
