God how long has it been since the Broncos have drafted a defensive player with the impact of Von Miller?

Folks we maybe seeing an all time great with this kid.

Holy crap he was through the line so quick it was amazing. They couldn't stop him at times except to hold. He was in Carson's dome by the end.

Man if the Broncos can get some leads where the opposition has to pass... dude is even more of a threat... pin ears back and launch big guy! Love how they are now moving him up and down the line pre-snap.

He could have had several sacks today. I think he combined with Doom on one early (got half a sack credited) but had several more pressures which were quite important. Good to see him continue to do well.

Moore out on the first play, then Dawkins goes "knee bends backwards" later in the first . .. I was worried. Von played well, and he earned a special nickname from the Faitards: "spinner"

love it!

His first step is just unreal.

The ball snaps and he's literally halfway into the backfield.

Dats my homeboy!! He retweeted me this week. I went to taco bell, and my wife goes ” who is on the cup”? (eddie is on taco bell cups in denver)

My 2 year old goes, ” thats not eddie, thats von miller”

Lol.

Von is an animal, was good vs run too. His back to back hits caused the last int.

Roy?

Like how he got pissed they had the nerve to call the PF on him, and prompted caused the errant throw for the INT.

Not a single chance.

VON DOOM BROUGHT THE PAIN TODAY.....great game against a OL that has dominated them in the past

the best thing was how he was in See Palm's face all day AND hit him whenever he could, even for a bogus roughing penalty late (I think they felt sorry for the retard raiders that couldn't stop getting penalties....so they threw a raiderpity flag on Miller when it didn't matter).

Miller was introducing himself to Palmer. Hope to see you soon, Carson!

Very good pick. I'm still on the fence with the rest of the draft, but they hit a home run with Miller.

He'll get DROY, but, yeah, overall ROTY pretty much always goes to an offensive player.

He had to have had at least a half dozen hurries/hits in addition to the sack (and the one taken away). Definitely was responsible for Palmer's last pick.

This dude is going to be very, very special. Just think - this is his rookie year! Wait until year 3 when the game really slows down for him. He will be unstoppable.

Miller is the real deal and will only get better. I hope they do more with him, as was done with Mecklenburg, and line him up in various places so teams never know where he is from play to play.

I'm kinda curious what it would have looked like with Von and Doom manning the outside in a 3-4 defense.

Did you not notice him dominating the center and guards today up the middle?

Yep, and that is what I mean. More of that, or the other side switching with Dumervil or lining up at MLB only to come on a blitz. Basically the OL and OC won't know when and where he is coming.

That was great to see. It means that Miller isn't just a one-dimensional edge rusher.

lol, that was definitely not a bogus penalty. I just assumed he was mad he got the sack taken away, so he decided to drill Carson just for kicks. it was an easy call--but I was all for it.

Miller is a special player, he is exactly the kind of play maker you need to get when you draft in that spot - I was all for getting Dareus but Miller is just such a freak athlete, he has the power to take on offensive linemen one on one, he has unnatural quickness and explosion and speed to go sideline to sideline.

There's a lot of different ROY awards that people hand out. But yeah as far as official awards go, I think you are right. DROY just plays second fiddle to OROY most of the time.

You're correct. I just meant in an overall sense, what he's done/may do won't top what Newton/Dalton have done/may do. QB spot's just that much more important than all the rest.

He should be leading the pack for DROY based on overall play as well as stats, although I haven't watched enough Buffalo or 49er football to really comment on Dareus or Aldon Smith. They're both probably way up there now as well.

Aldon Smith has been a beast. It's a two man race.

Speaking of the 49ers. Look what happens when you have as coach who knows something about QB's and what he has done with Alex Smith to get the best out of him, plus a very good running game and one of the best defenses in the NFL.

You could simplify that by simply saying "Look what happens when you have a coach who doesn't suck." ;)

They were moving him around and blitzing him up the middle a lot which I really liked. Helped eliminate him getting run wide on rushing plays while bringing pressure up the middle on Palmer.

Bunkley and Thomas have been solid this year, Fox's time in Carolina shows that he prefers solid in the middle and speed off the edge. I don't foresee them bringing in anyone above these 2 right now (depth and rotation yes, but not starters) at DT.

We are, however, in dire need of even a quality starter at MLB. Our front 7 would be quite fearsome. I would love for Irving to pan out, and we'll see if they think he can become a starter. Otherwise our needs on defense come down to CB and MLB.

Miller and Dumervil played great today. Probably the closest we have seen to them playing like they did in the preseason. Can only help it means Doom is closer to 100% now.

Is Von Miller better than Clay Matthews already? Serious question.

And what was that "light shove" dust off move he pulled to get through the line in a tenth of a second?

right now i can't think of another Defensive rookie having the impact he is. so if voting were held today it would be his by a wide margin. i'd bet on Miller as DROY and Dalton as OROY. a case can be made for Newton but i go with Dalton because he wins games, Newton isn't winning enough to be the OROY.

It's not just Von, either--this team can beat people if it can play with a lead. We know Von can really T off if the opponent has to throw, and we know we can run the ball from several different looks. This is how it's going to be for the rest of this year, and probably next if we keep Tebow--if we can get a lead, we can be hard to play against. If we don't, things can start looking ugly.

Disagree. Quality DT play is what's missing here more than anything. We have backups starting. There is no magical MLB who is going to hit the RB at the line, or collapse the pocket. This defense needs a serious push up front to do both those things before it thinks beyond it.

Just look at what Phil Taylor has added for Cleveland.

We could definitely use a solid hogger.

I'd be happiest with Burifect though.

The guy has an unnatural first step and short area explosion.

Just loved the way he lined up in the A gap showing blitz and sidestepped/brushed aside the center or guard and got past them while they were still on their first step.

Saw him make plenty of plays on the edge against the run as well.
