View Full Version : Taunting?

Someone suggested on another board that when the Lions defensive player sacked Tebow, and he was "Tebowing", that an unsportsmanlike taunting penalty flag should have been thrown.

Seems obvious to me.

When you lose 45-10 you usually do not get calls in your favor.

Well, they weren't getting any calls period, even when the game was closer early. Such as Scheffler's juggling catch in which he clearly offensive PI'd on that play. I know this hasn't been mentioned by anyone, and offensive PI is rarely called, but that was blatant.

The Broncos were not handed an even deal from the refs, also as indicated by the fact that the Lions had zero penalties well into the 4th quarter.

And it shouldn't matter what the score is, especially with taunting. The refs had a chance to send a message that this sort of behavior won't be tolerated by throwing a flag, but they failed. The NFL should also have considered handing out a fine as well.

It's part of being a fan and it's enjoyable. When things don't go well, you cry and bitch about it. It's part of human nature when following your favorite team.

You ****ing pussies, every defensive player in the league has some celebration they do after a sack. IT IS NOT TAUNTING. ....my bad, tebow has a different set rules when he plays.

I don't remember any PI before that catch. Keep in mind once that ball is tipped there won't be any PI any direction.

For years, teams have been doing the mile high salute when they score against Denver.

Is that taunting, celebrating or just mocking??

Seriously, when something like Tebowing goes viral, it's going to be a target.

To Tebow's credit, he has been good natured about it, so maybe we fans shouldn't be bothered either.

How is that taunting? Although I pretty much hate every instance of that call.

There's really no way to know it was taunting at the time. It's not like they are going to have a 'scripture test' to know if a player is religious or not. And really, who cares? A penalty wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game. We could have gotten every close call and still would have been blown out.

I just find it funny they wouldn't allow Jarred Allen's harmless sack celebration, but when a defender clearly mocks another player in a disgraceful manner, everyone either laughs or looks the other direction.

who gives a flyin ***k. He deserved it, too bad they couldn't have embarrassed the rest of the team. Oh wait they got that covered.

Before the ball was tipped, Scheffler clearly extended his arm pushing Chris Harris (who had better position) out of the way. I am not talking about whatever happened after the ball was tipped.

A ref ought to be able to differentiate between true praying and mocking, wouldn't you think? If it was true praying, he would step away from Tebow and other players and then do his prayer.

The refs correctly allowed both Harris and Sheffler to battle for the ball. It was a great catch.

One of Denver's lineman should have stood up for Tebow and blasted that Lion while he was mocking Tebow. But, of course, not only does his own coaching staff hate him, his teammates hate him as well.

Okay.

Seems a little late to complain about a missed call now though.

No, I don't think. Unless he butts helmets with Tebow and puts his hands together in mock prayer, it shouldn't be called. Refs have got better things to do then that crap.

Almost as much as they hated Griese.

It was several games into the season before a lineman gave him a hand off the turf.

Opposing players often did the Merriman dance as a sack dance or TD dance. No flag was ever thrown, nor should it have been.

While I agree the Ref's did a good job of throwing flags for us and hardly a one for them (think the first Lions flag came in the 4th) this shouldn't have been a flag. Now that spastic Merriman dance should be a flag no matter what.

How about the team plays better, the coaches coach better, and the front office signs players and drafts better so they can shut up the taunters with the score board?

Just a thought...

no kidding

I mean, we only had a hall of famer here that has one of the best taunting clips of all time against the Patriots but you know, it just sucks to be on the other end

I demand they go back and flag him!!

I hate fans of any team that cry about not getting 1. personal foul calls, 2. unnecessary roughness calls, 3. pretty much any penalty that has no bearing on the actual play.

Not saying that, but it might have been a more competitive game if ref'd more fairly.

Yes I did. The Decker catch was a touchdown. Denver should have been up 7-0 with the very first possession of the game. Tebow has confidence, and who knows what changes after that.

I am thinking the game might have been fixed. Probably a lot of Tebow-maniacs putting money on Denver to beat the spread, and the officials made sure that someone else made a huge day at Vegas sportsbooks.

LOL

Who calls dibs on the single finger in the air? Who gets the fist pump?

If someone's gonna get to call dibs on going to a knee in prayer, it's only fair.

Actually, when the NFL excessive celebration rule was made, an exception was made for going to a knee in prayer. Does that mean Tebow is actually mocking someone else?

GTFO, OP.

There should have been but none of our nutless wonders up front have the balls or pride to blast some showboating asshole in the earhole or kneecap to send the necessary message. Had our guys had the proper sack then, yes, there should have been a flag thrown for the appropriate response to that showboating dog****. We fielded a team of twats last week. Maybe Fox is saving his super secret sophisticated game plan for this week. Maybe Fox is saving his coaching up for one good game. Maybe Fox is saving his men for another game and sent out cheerleaders for last week's game.
