If you know how to find China on a map, or that China has nukes, (which they've had since the 60's) you're a foreign policy expert compared to the Uzbeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan immigrant Herman Cain (who has yet to produce a birth certificate.)

JUDY WOODRUFF: Do you view China as a potential military threat to the United States?

HERMAN CAIN: I do view China as a potential military threat to the United States… we already have superiority in terms of our military capability, and I plan to get away from making cutting our defense a priority and make investing in our military capability a priority, going back to my statement: peace through strength and clarity. So yes they’re a military threat. They’ve indicated that they’re trying to develop nuclear capability and they want to develop more aircraft carriers like we have. So yes, we have to consider them a military threat.

Damn that libruhl PBS and their gotcha questions!

So, you don't think he's talking about nuclear capabilities on a submarine? Alrighty. Honestly, when i read that, I took it as having nuclear subs, which China does not.

Do you know anything about Cain's background? During the Vietnam War, his job was to evaluate the capabilities of China to deliver nuclear warheads to South Vietnam. He was part of the team that determined that China's Dongfeng 4 missile could deliver a nuclear warhead to Moscow, Guam, and all our troops in Southeast Asia, so is it really plausible that he doesn't know China has nukes?

eta: I'm not on the Cain train.

Here's what 'develop' means, btw:

1.Grow or cause to grow and become more mature, advanced, or elaborate:

So is it possible that Cain meant China is trying to 'grow or cause to grow' their nuclear capability and make it 'become more mature, advanced, or elaborate'? In this context, he'd assume China's nuke capability in the statement he made.

Just saying, if you're gonna goof on someone, make sure you know what he meant, his background, and the context in which he said it. For example:

"It is just wonderful to be back in Oregon. And over the last 15 months we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states; I think one left to go."

Why hasn't Cain come out and said this, then? Every major news site is laughing at him today.

Perhaps it's because a quick google search shows that China already has nuclear submarines.

Where are you getting this information?

I read his wiki. I google searched his book, and there is no mention of "Vietnam"

I did find that he worked as a civilian mathematician in the Navy to avoid the draft, so I'm sure it's possible, but there is no mention of what he worked on.

Peace through clarity. There's a new bumper sticker.
