Since the voters said HELL NO to more new taxes. Thank you Colorado for standing up to these big government spending pigs that have an unending appetite for your money. Finally Colorado is leaning back to right of center. I can't wait to see Obama and the Democrats get cremated at the polls in 2012. The backlash from this aimless OWS crappola and Obama's failed economic policies is going to be epic.

in between heroin breaks, redistribution of STD's, sexually imposing themselves on each other, crapping on cop cars, and uttering self-defeating arguments.

how will they find the time?

I see. One failure to get a statewide tax increase passed, and OWS and Obama are utterly repudiated.

You righties are clinging worse than post-digestion Taco Bell.

All this vote says is that the people of Colorado are broke, like everybody else in America, and you're a moron.

All this vote says is that the people of Colorado are broke, like everybody else in America, and you're a moron.

Exactly you made my point for me. These morons who are protesting think somehow the free ride should not only continue but the money to support them increased. The taxpayers are broke too, ya moron.

It's time for lower taxes on everyone, less regulation, smaller government and restarting support for Capitalism instead of the sharing the wealth Obama Socialist model that’s been such an epic failure. This is the key to economic recovery not another 1 trillion dollar tax hike to entrench a bigger centralized government.

Obama's Socialist model? This country has been on a steady diet of supply side economics for thirty years. The disparity of wealth is at pre-Depression Era numbers.

This is what I don't get about you Red Staters; You look around at the wreckage your ideology has visited on this country and your response is, "Give me more!" It's pathetic.

BS, they’re not protesting Obama, he’s their hero, their new age Karl Marx. It’s the banks, the evil corporations, the rich, the people who actually work for a living and have earned what they have that they’re protesting. It all started with Obama's class warfare rhetoric, it was a call to action of his useful idiots since he's been down in the polls and knows his bid for reelection is on life support. If he could he’d be out there with them pumping his fist and saying, “Power to the people and don’t forget to vote for me in 2012.”

Preface

Until the conditions stated below are met, our movement will only intensify. It has already proven to be a lasting and powerfully uniting force that is growing constantly. We will engage in purely nonviolent protest, and we will continue to protest nonviolently until our demands are fulfilled. As our popularity grows, so does our power. With this power, we will make our demands loud and clear, we will voice them with a thunderous roar that has already proved more powerful than any government or corporate power in countless Middle Eastern countries. We are the true voice of liberty, and we will not be silenced until we strip the corporate culture of its power, and return it to its rightful owners, the citizens of the United States of America.

Reverse the Effects of the Citizens United Supreme Court Decision

This decision stated that corporations can spend as much as they want on election campaigns and no disclosure is required whatsoever. Corporations should be highly limited in their ability to contribute to political campaigns no matter what the election and no matter what the form of media. This is in order to ensure that the politicians that are elected are loyal to the people and not to their corporate buyers.
Re-Instate the Glass-Steagall Act

The repeal of the provisions of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act effectively removed the separation that previously existed between investment banking which issued securities and commercial banks which accepted deposits. The deregulation also removed conflict of interest prohibitions between investment bankers serving as officers of commercial banks. This repeal directly contributed to the severity of the Financial crisis of 2007 - 2011 by allowing Wall Street investment banking firms to gamble with their depositors’ money that was held in commercial banks owned or created by the investment firms.
Pass the Buffet Rule on Fair Taxation

This act would ensure that all American citizens making over one million dollars pay a fair portion of their income to the federal government. This act does not call for a higher tax rate for the ultra-rich as one would logically assume, but rather for a tax rate equivalent to that of the middle class, an extremely reasonable request.
Completely Revamp the Securities and Exchange Commission

This commission must be completely rebuilt to ensure the protection of the American people. It is currently a broken institution that merely perpetuates the corporate domination over the middle class. The new commission must be powerful and well funded, and regulated consistently.
Re-Establish the Public Airwaves

There must be an established order in which presidential candidates debate and campaign on mainstream media. Currently the institutions pick and choose which candidate to give air time, based on their financial interests. These interests directly conflict with the interests of the people, and in order to ensure that voters are given an unbiased, equal view of each candidate, drastic mass-media reforms must be enacted.
Investigate, Arrest and Try the Wall Street Criminals

These corporate moguls clearly broke the law and helped cause the 2008 financial crisis in many notable cases. There is a broad consensus that there is a clear group of people who committed financial crimes and have not been brought to justice. A vigorous and intensive investigation must be conducted to prevent future acts of rampant foul play.
Intense Regulation of the Defense Industry

The wars that our country is engaged in are not wars in the interest of the American people, or for the good of any group of people. These wars are fought for corporate profit, and until reforms are put in place, we will continue to sacrifice our beloved troops to benefit a select few war profiteers. Legislation MUST be put in place to ensure that no institution whatsoever profits from the making of war.

My opinion of your politics hasn't changed and won't but I truly admire anyone who was a veteran. Thank you for your service and I mean it with all sincerity.

My family has a history of service in the military going way back, I couldn’t serve because I couldn’t pass a physical in Denver in 1978 but I would have gladly had I done so. I know being a Police Officer is different than being in the military but has some of the same dangers. Why hit me with a slam? I was being sincere. If you did actually serve I thank you also for your service.

BTW, I was never a fan of Bush never. He was no friend of the fiscal conservative which is one bedrock principle that I'll never break on, others issues maybe but not when it's comes my own money and private property. Now that Obama is President however he’s an even a bigger nightmare than W. As we’ve seen per his “spread the wealth” ideology. I keep my financial house in order and live within my own means and everything I own I’ve worked for and paid for since I left home in 1978.

I expect my government to do the same whether there’s a Republican or Democrat in the oval office. I can be a social liberal on some issues but when it comes to my private property, wealth or money I feel like I’m giving plenty away now. What I pay in taxes some years is more than some people make and most that don’t make that much don’t pay a freaking dime in taxes and take advantage of every entitlement benefit there is. This has to stop. The low income folks have no skin in the game and the 46% who don’t pay a damn dime in taxes have no incentive to improve their lot in life if they know someone else will care for them. The elderly, children and disabled should always be protected and if they have an honest need I have no problem with that. It’s when I see people that are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves taking advantage of a system that has no accountability at all that infuriates me and should infuriate you.

Work equals money and wealth, education equals money and wealth. If we adopted this philosophy to American society would benefit in every way imaginable. Handouts or freebies won’t because somebody like me who is an a productive worker and earning shouldn’t be paying for the lazy and unmotivated who are capable of caring for themselves

Increasing the size and scope of government in any fashion whether it’s corporate, bank bailouts, farming subsidies, food stamps, free medical care, housing, people who are upside down in their houses, car companies is what got us here. Am I an evil greedy Conservative because I feel like there’s not a level playing field for people who actually have worked for what they have only to have to taken from me by a government that has no accountability whatsoever?

Long rant, I’m done here because I have to head off to work. Yes work, I do work. Work is concept we all need to return if we want to survive and thrive.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/nationnow/2011/11/colorado-voters-reject-higher-taxes-education.html

In what could be a harbinger of the 2012 election, Colorado voters Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected a measure that would have raised nearly $3 billion for education by temporarily increasing state income, sales and use taxes.

With 59% of the projected vote counted, Proposition 103 was trailing 65% to 35%, the Associated Press reported.

The debate over the measure closely mirrored recent rancor in Washington over the question of whether more spending will revive a moribund economy or slow down a nascent recovery.

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2011/11/02/colorado-on-new-taxes-no/

A referendum in Colorado to raise nearly $3 billion in new taxes for education went down in flames yesterday, losing across the state by about two-to-one. Many local bond issues also failed.

Obama carried Colorado in 2008 (Bush carried it in both 2000 and 2004), and clearly hoped to carry it next year, having visited the state twice in recent weeks. So it has got to be very bad news for him that a swing state is clearly not in a mood to increase government spending even when it’s “for the children.”

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/general_business/october_2011/only_22_support_giving_states_35_billion_to_preven t_teacher_first_responder_layoffs

President Obama is pushing Congress to pass his plan to give $35 billion to state and local governments to prevent layoffs of teachers and first responders such as firemen, policemen and rescue squad workers. But most Americans think state and local governments should tighten their financial belts instead.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 22% of Americans think the federal government should give states and localities $35 billion to prevent such layoffs. Nearly three times as many adults (64%) believe that the best way for state and local governments to avoid these layoffs is to cut back on other spending. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

The low income folks have no skin in the game and the 46% who don’t pay a damn dime in taxes have no incentive to improve their lot in life if they know someone else will care for them.

Really? They may not pay federal income taxes, but the taxes they do pay take much more of their income than those same taxes take from you.

Do you honestly believe that a significant portion of the poor are content with being poor?

Do you honestly believe that a significant portion of the poor are content with being poor?

I'd also really want to know the break down on this whole % of people who don't pay taxes:

Is it people whom are too poor to pay an income tax? Is it rich people that have their money off shore that get around the taxes...etc etc. There's no information beyond this lousy meme. I mean, with good jobs disappearing - and you can only find $10/hr jobs - what do you expect?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/28/46-percent-of-americans-e_n_886293.html

More than half the filers exempt from federal income tax in 2011 are in the lowest income quintile, meaning they make less than 80 percent of the country. As Bruce Bartlett at The New York Times notes, those in the bottom quintile have incomes of less than $16,812.

In most cases, tax filers who don’t pay federal income tax are still on the hook for other taxes. They can still be responsible for payroll taxes, withheld from their paychecks, and for excise taxes on gasoline, tobacco, alcohol, and other goods. And they may have to pay income tax at the state or local level.

Many filers exempt from federal income tax are the beneficiaries of programs aimed at helping the working poor. At the NYT, Bruce Bartlett points out that between 2000 and 2008, during the presidency of George W. Bush, the percentage of filers who paid no federal income tax rose from 25.2 percent to 36.3 percent. During this time, Bartlett says, Republicans added a significant child credit to the tax code, resulting in a rise in nonpayers.

In fact, the number of filers paying no federal income tax has hovered between 40 and 50 percent for the past several years.

In 2010, 45 percent of households paid no federal income tax, according to the Tax Policy Center. In 2009, it was about 47 percent. In 2008, 49 percent were exempt from federal income tax.

All in all, according to the Tax Policy Center, there will be 76 million nonpaying “tax units” in 2011. The Center defines a tax unit as “an individual, or a married couple who file a tax return jointly, along with all dependents of that individual or married couple.”

And not all of those tax units represent the working class.

Nine million nonpayers, or 12.8 percent of the total, are in the middle income quintile. Another 1.9 million -- 2.6 percent of the total -- are in the second-highest quintile, and some 443,000, or 0.6 percent of the total, are in the top quintile.

The Tax Policy Center breaks down that last number a bit further: There are 78,000 non-paying units in the top 95th to 99th income percentile, 24,000 in the top 1 percentile, and 3,000 in the top tenth of a percentile.

This group has a nickname, too: they're the HINTs, for high income, no taxes.

These might be people who get their income from tax-exempt bonds or overseas sources, as CNN reported last year.

Or they might be people who have incurred losses from partnerships or S Corporations. Or people who have run up "extraordinary" medical or dental bills. As The Fiscal Times noted in December, these are other ways to realize one's HINT status.

And as The Fiscal Times points out, they're all "perfectly legal."

IRS: 1,470 millionaires paid no income tax in '09

Not the best day to report this, but the IRS says 1,470 millionaires paid no federal income taxes in 2009.

Where did the money go? Tax "expenditures" (otherwise known as deductions, write-offs, subsidies or loopholes), charities, municipal bonds and tax payments to foreign governments, according to a recent IRS report (pdf) that ABC News noticed over the weekend and that the Los Angeles Times picked up today.

More than 235,000 taxpayers earned $1 million or more in '09, with 8,274 making more than $10 million, the Internal Revenue Service said. All told, there were 140 million taxpayers.

The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center reported last month that 46% of American households (known as "units") actually will not pay federal income taxes for this year nor will receive refunds. That's because of low incomes, credits for children or other dependents, or exemptions. Read that report here.

You are clueless, aren't you? Take a look around you, friendo. Multinational corporations own your country. They have shipped our jobs and our wealth to China. They make China strong while making us weak. They have destroyed our housing market, the last vestige of the working man's economic independence, and drained the equity out of every house in America. They have bought our government and changed every law, tax and regulation in this country until the government becomes nothing more than a giant vacuum, sucking up the wealth of the nation and pouring into their offshore accounts where they sit on it, refusing to invest in their own country. They changed the Constitution to give their corporations the power to now buy our elections outright. They hand out billions in bonuses to each other while funding politicians who want to destroy the last shreds of the safety net for the rest of America, all those Americans whose lives have been devastated by their greed.

You know, something is happening, but you don't know what it is, do you, Mr. Jones?

You have every liberal talking point nailed to perfection.

This should be sent all across America as bad example of the discontentment and blame game the extreme left uses for an ideology now that they have no Moderates left in the Democrat party. It’s been taken over a bunch of snot nosed whiney kids complaining that the evil corporations are to blame for all the ales of our country. This rant you’ve left here sounds like something from the Communism Manifesto. Bleeding the greedy rich and the evil corporations dry because they have money is an insane answer; the government is to blame for its unending lust for power, our money and day by day snatching away our freedoms and liberties.

We don’t have a taxation problem we have a spending problem. The federal government is pissing more money down the stool than any amount of money that it could take in taxes from the rich, the middle class or the poor. Trust me what is wasted in DC is beyond comprehension, it would boggle an ordinary man’s mind the amount of money that is being wasted every day. So this idea that we have to engage in class welfare to solve our debt and spending problems is patently insane.

You want to put money in a man’s pocket give him a job not a handout. People who want to rob the rich to feed the poor must first understand that they employ millions and millions of people. Duh!

The reasons that US corporations have gone out of business or moved overseas are simple. The corporate tax rates are too high not too low. The unbelievable mountain of bureaucratic regulation and red tape the federal government heaps in untold billions of dollars in operating costs on business is crushing. And lastly the unions have damned big business (and Public sector unions whose benefits are paid for by taxpayers) with over the top wages and benefit packages that just can’t be sustained. This is why business has stalled in the US and why they go elsewhere and they should because being in business is about making money not about creating a fat cow for the government to suck the blood out of and hand it out to squatters.

Big Government and higher tax rates does not create jobs nor wealth. It creates economic dislocation and misery. $850 billion dollars in stimulus money was spent 2 years ago and how many private sector jobs did it create? None. All that money did was prop up federal and state government bureaucracies and funneled it through to friends and cronies in the Democrat party. What should have been done then as now is to slash spending instead of recording massive increases and inflated budgets at every level of government. Now Obama in the midst of a near economic collapse has proposed another $1 trillion in new taxes masked as a job bills. It’s unbelievably reckless in this climate that he even considers making such a plea.

The government is a disease, a parasite, a black hole that sucks us dry and destroys almost every level of society because it will NEVER have enough money or private property to feed its unending appetite. Letting the federal government pick winners and losers is a bad idea, we’ve seen what miserable failures they been at it for years now. The promise Obama made was an 8% unemployment rate and 3 to 5 million new jobs where are they?

The liberals love to create straw men, blaming the evil corporations and the greedy rich for all that ales the human condition when it’s our big brother in DC who is to blame. Free enterprise, free markets, lower taxes, less regulation, rugged individualism made us great and will again if people would start to understand that more government isn’t the answer.

Here's all those "taxes" your corporate buddies paid:
http://bottomline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/11/03/8617728-30-companies-paid-less-than-zero-taxes-in-recent-years

Listen, tool. Since Reagan came into office the tax code has been rewritten to shift the burden of government over to the middle class while allowing the rich a free ride. Look it up. Nobody is making any of this up. You don't think our jobs are being sent overseas? Why are people protesting? Because they see the bottom rungs of the ladder of opportunity in America being removed. They see our manufacturing base (which built the middle class) being sold to China. They see home ownership going away. They see college education going away. And meanwhile, they see a recession that is destroying the middle class while the rich are doling out billions in bonuses to each other. That's the difference between now and the Great Depression. Back then, the rich got hit too. Not this time.

You bitch about the government and then complain that Obama isn't producing jobs? American free enterprise is the thing that creates jobs. And they are. They just created a few million in China and India last year.

I know China owns us but it's because of the big spending by the federal government, not because of the evil corporations or the greedy rich. If you loved my rant read this one it's spot on.
