:Broncos:

Yeah, that was Irvin's way of saying that he sees Jesus in Tebow's actions which is the way that all Christians aspire to be.

He could have been more specific in the way that he said it, but its not a big deal. Guys like Irvin and Sanders are going to love Tebow.

Yeah, that was funny. Everyone on the set laughed, and Deion looked so pleased. It's like when my four-year-old stumbles upon something that everyone thinks is clever. She acts like she just won the lottery. Later, she'll run it up the flagpole again: "Daddy, remember when I said..."

That one wasn't ugly though. Ugly is when you back into it, seem to have done everything you can to lose it, but the other team was worse.

When they end in dramatic fashion with the offense torching the other team, it's exciting. It's particularly enjoyable. More enjoyable than average, really.

How many ugly wins did Elway have early in his career? Youíre old enough to remember them don't you? Reeves was more conservative than Fox in fact he was to the right of Rush Limbaugh and he was forced to pull out ugly wins almost every week under him. It was his run the ball on first, run the ball on second, pass the ball on third and punt on 4th. The a mad scramble at the end of the 4Q with Elway trying to pull off another miracle.

I just don't get your hate, I wish I could understand why youíd root to see him fail when he's only started 4 games and he's the QB of your own team Bro. It's baffling.

For some people, being positive or optimistic is simply not cool. My son is in this stage. Of course, he's 13, so I assume he will grow out of it.

Some people just seem to need to be perceived as being controversial. What I find appealing is someone who just speaks honestly, whether you agree or disagree with their opinion. That honesty might include a bright outlook on the future, and it might not. It is what it is. I like that.

At the end of the day, trying to be "controversial" is the same as desperately trying to get attention. When my son acts like that, I make a dramatic show of giving him a hug. It irritates him, but it makes a point. There are a handful of posters here who apparently just need a hug.

Case and point of how our fanbase is just a bunch of teenage girls. So nauseating.

If wins and losses are your measuring stick right now, then you haven't a clue. Normally that is exactly what you look at but you can pick up on the nuance of what it at stake here. Wins and losses matter if this team has a chance to do something this season. They don't. if you think so, put down the pipe (or pass it please).

Right now, we need to figure out if Tebow is the guy or we see enough to think he could be the guy for the future. If not, it means we draft QB and probably pretty high. If not, they draft D (hopefully) and probably take a project QB late since there isn't a backup on the roster.

He could play great against Det and lose, that should be looked at as a positive. So far, the real scoreboard isn't in his favor.

For god's sake people, think about this for the long term.

If I'm Pat Bowlen I walk down to that coach's room and tell them flat out that Tebow is the guy. Make him a winner and if they can't do it Pat should find someone who will. From a business standpoint the Broncos have never had so much free press. From a business standpoint wherever the guy goes people tune in to either love or hate the guy. Doesn't matter which because they're tuned in and watching. From a business standpoint every game Tebow wins builds the fanbase that has been killed over the last decade. From a business standpoint the guy sells jerseys. From a business standpoint Tebow has started a mad fad of "Tebowing". How the hell does Pat not demand that Fox and Co. make a go of this guy? Every night for the past 3 weeks the Broncos have been covered in the national media in some fashion. Every. Damn. Night. That is money and coverage the Broncos haven't had in years. That's good business and what better personality could you possibly find to build a brand around? FFS people, that's what is good for the franchise. Revenue, coverage, and wins.

Soft D or not that club came out of the shell after Tim led that first TD drive. That touchdown was hope and the team fed off of that. Once McCoy started moving things on offense things opened up. Prior to that the offensive playcalling was stagnant and predictable and that has to change.

If they want to have a shot at Detroit they have to play fast, uptempo football on offense. They need to move the pocket and make Suh chase all day long and run a psuedo huddle offense doing their best to limit Detroit's ability to make subs up front. Wear those guys out. Use screens and dump offs, counters and traps. Misdirection. You know, maybe we can see Fox's "sophisticated" running game for once. But keep Tebow out of the pocket ffs because Suh's going to crash that party all day long. If Suh's going to chase then let him and run around him.

However, McCoy gives me no confidence he'll do anything other than run, run, run, punt. Run, run, run punt. McCoy sucks. If we want to give our D a shot against Stafford and Megatron we need to put up points and play fast paced football, let the D play from a position of strength for once instead of bailing McCoy's dog**** playcalling.

That's a silly outlook really. If you take those numbers and translate them literally what you would have is this:

100% we'll say is 100 plays.

If a QB makes all the right calls and plays excellent for 99 plays and has only 1 bad play, and they lose? I'd say the loss was not the QB's fault. How could you expect any player to play better then 99%. Impossible.

On the flip side. If you had a QB who played horrible for 99 plays and had only 1 good play, and they won? I'd say the QB was not the real reason the team won. In fact, I'd be wondering why the QB was still in the game if he had 99 bad plays in a row, hahahaha.

I understand what you're getting at, but it was a terrible example.

I do appreciate your gift, thank you for so kindly for correcting me and putting me in my place. I probably shouldnít have gotten political in this thread but since I did and since Iíve offended you with stupidly Iíll continue.

First, Iím well aware that the Onion is a parody of the news and that its attempting to be humorous I donít see it which Iíll get into in a minute. I also know that Kayloreís post was meant to be humorous.

I didnít really go into why I dislike the Onion because I was leaving for work and didnít have time to respond in the way Iíd of wanted to, so let me elaborate some because I admit sometimes I can really be a knee jerk reactionary.

The Onion, The Daily Show, the Colbert Report, Saturday Night Live and even Conan sadly, a show I use to love in the beginning, falls into the same category.

They attempt humor though political satire that in most cases is bias and totally uneven. You donít see any of the above mentioned including Conan who you used to take shots at both political parties and itís leaders laying much comedy nor parody onto the left side of the aisle or very rarely. And if it is its lame and very tame by comparison.

No one and I mean none of them take shots at Obama, they fear itíll turn away liberals viewers and that if they did somehow poke fun or criticize him itíd turn them away because today they make up the majority of their audiences. Saturday Night Live and Conan were not always this way but with the election of Obama it all changed.

Stewart, Colbert and Letterman make no pretense about where they stand politically theyíre liberals. Conan whoís always taken shots at politicians and the politics of the day may be a Democrat but before the election of Obama he routinely parodied Al Gore, Bill and Hillary Clinton just as much as George W. or any of the GOP leaders.

Second, all the talk show hosts want to appear friendly to him so heíll make appearances on their shows. Case in point Obama who was on Leno recently, Leno like the other hosts know heís a more of rock star than a politician and no one dares make jokes about him. They all want to make damn sure they keep up an appearance on air anyway that they support Obama and the progressives because so many of the Hollywood elite live in the Utopian liberal bubbles of LA, San Francisco, New York, Seattle and even Denver now.

Third, another reason they clearly donít make jokes about him is because they fear the wrath of being labeled racists if they direct any criticism or jokes at Obama. The Blacks and the other sensitive minorities would crucify them if they went too far.

The thing that gripes the Holy Hell out of me is theyíll stoop to any low, name calling, guttural or juvenile humor to tear down someone on the other side with all ferocity and no one says it a word to object. A good example is Sarah Palin, I think sheís dimwit and I could never support her as President even though Iím Republican but the personal attacks on her and her family have went far beyond the realm of decency and good taste. Obama doesnít even get a scratch and he uses his color as a weapon and a shield to intimidate or mute opposition to him like no other leader of color in American history.

Lastly why I object to the Onion, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and Conan is that a whole new generation of Americans DO USE THEM AS A PRIMARY SOURCE OF NEWS. I like and respect Kaylore, heís a very intelligent and thoughtful person who does not fall into this group but like it or not thereís millions who do.

This group of people who get there news here is getting a dumb down version of the dayís events that in no way is informative or objective. The Daily Show is the worst by far, I know many 20 something that donít watch any other news cast on TV, nor pick up a newspaper nor even look for any other objective news sources on the internet.

So I canít find any humor in any of them at all, it isnít funny, itís tragic and our country as it slowly slides off the cliff into oblivion these people will go right down with it because they are totally ignorance and as you would say "illiterate" to what the hell is actually going on.

This was a truly long winded rant I know but this covers. I fully expect many of you to disagree with me about this and I welcome a debate. Iím done here.

Man, I was just messin' with you. You're a good guy. Don't take it personally!

Things I learned in this thread: the sad decline of Conan O'Brien's political satire.

It was never that good in the first place. You're just maturing out of it.

Conan's best stuff was his characters. Triumph, Coked-Up Werewolf, etc. I don't know if he wrote that stuff or not though.

He was a really good writer on the Simpsons back in the day.

Its' true, if you've been a fan of his since the very beginning, it's completely obvious, especially since he moved to LA.

I loved Triumph and his other bits, but since the move to LA night after night going after Palin and even George W. who hasn't been the Pres. for almost 3 years just bores me and shows his bias.

Well, I really think you're wrong about The Onion. It is more of a mockery of the media than it is about any political party. I've never really seen it as being remotely political. It does make fun of the government, but that doesn't seem to change much with which side is running it.

Lead political story on The Onion today.

To their credit they do show Obama punching a Wall Street Banker though, as OWS drools.

We all grow older but a lot of people don't grow up. Start giving out the bro hugs.

Good but not done to true man hug specifications, tweeking is needed.

A better demonstration of a man hug is here:

Man hugs are fine but must be done in the proper manner. It starts with a firm handshake with one man going over the top of the others shoulder with a few pats on the top of the back. While the other takes his free hand and pats the lower part of the back, all the while keeping a minimum safe distance with as little or no chest contact as possible. Chest contact may be unavoidable and thatís why itís critical that the man hug must be executed very quickly if not other men around you may think itís more than just a man hug.

Me thinks thou dost protest too much!
I watch Leno regularly and he has taken a LOT of shots at Obama over the last year and a half. I have also seen Colbert and John Stewart take shots at him and the administration in general, although Colbert not very often.

If it is stupidity they all call it such and are not liable to give either side a break, because that is the method they use to maintain their audiences....they are satirical and they are not going to pass up opportunities to satirise the sitting administration.

The bias you speak of is mainly in your head. They take more shots at Republicans because that party currently has more dumb ****s catering to the fringe elements than the Dems do. They make better copy and better jokes and provide more material that can be painted in a stupid fashion. For instance Perrys recent rehash of the birther (certificate) issue. This should not even have been mentioned, but he left himself open to satire...and deserved it for bringing that crap up again.

Total BS you need to open your eyes and ears then check your head gear, the scale clearly falls down on the left most of the time on all of these shows And please don't preach to me about fringe elements it makes you look a blind and deaf idiot. The left wing fringe as in the case of these OWS loonies top any Tea Party rally in ďfringe elementsĒ to the 100th power.

I love how the Looney Lefties justify their bad behavior, then compares it to the peaceful protests of the TPís. Many of OWS rallies have brought out the worse kind of moon bats, most from their Momís basements and some have resorted to violence, disrespect of Police Officers authority and safety not to mention breaking local laws on protests and squatting. Any day weíll see them resort to an out of control group of thugs and someone will probably get very seriously hurt or God forbid killed for one the most moronic causes ever created.

The Tea Parties rallies were fringe elements all right if you think a Bingo Night at the Senior Center is a dangerous element. Man I just canít believe how delusional one group can be and the unbelievable amount of denial that can be thrown in our faces when all know its BS lies piled 10 miles high. Just saw you live in Portland, cased closed I'm done here.
