View Full Version : Gaddafi is latest foil to cover Obama's many indiscretions

It’s a lock Obama will be doing some major fist pumping and chest thumping this week over the death of Muammar Gaddafi; he’ll probably have a gala parade down Pennsylvania Avenue with a grand military contingent marching right behind him to take credit for it. All the while the adoring media trailing behind saying what an amazing world leader and a glorious hero he is.
It’s incredible how this man claimed to be this ardent pacifist during his 2008 campaign with his sole issue being the removal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan now he’s the biggest Democratic military hawk since Lyndon Johnson. Regardless of this being labeled a combined “NATO” mission this was an American lead effort with most of money, risk and military support leading the way in Libya.
Amazing then isn’t it that troops are still in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Gitmo detention camp is still holding prisoners of war and the media is completely silent like a ban of compliant crickets. Obama raved on and on about the cost of the Bush wars and yet no one will question that a cool $1 billion dollars of taxpayers’ money was used to rid the world of a tyrant only Obama judged worthy of removal.
The main stream media daily bashed Bush about, “When are the troops coming home?” “Bush is a nation builder and doesn’t respect the sovereignty of foreign countries.” “Bush is all about the oil riches in the Middle East.” “Bush is a war monger and a mass murder” etc. The Democrats today and the Obama loving media sure are hypocrites and have very short memories.
It’s just assumed that Obama can write checks for military campaigns he deems worthy without consent, fund fraudulent solar companies, pitch loans for so called American electric car companies who then build them in Finland, sale firearms to Mexican drug gangs as a ruse to promote gun control in America and still retain any respect from the media and the American public.
Gaddafi’s death will be good cover for him as one corrupt story after another continues to surface. The MSM should be asking at the very least for honest investigations or impeachment hearings and at most an outright resignation for the variety of scandals he and his administration have perpetrated over the last 2 years.
Think this will happen? If you do I’ll sell you some stock in Solyndra or maybe a Fisker electric car for only $97,000 backed by a 529 million dollar federal loan guarantee for a car made in Finland. What is the remedy you ask? Vote for whoever the GOP nominee is in 2012, even if it’s Daffy Duck.

If you would have paid attention to Obama's foreign policy remarks during the election cycle or read anything major coming from the administration, you would have known going into the voting booth that he was going to be far more aggressive than his predecessor.

Are you kidding me?
My Political Science emphasis as an undergraduate was international relations, with a strict emphasis re: GWOT and Southeast Asia (primarily India-Pakistani relations and how America fits into the picture.) One of my key research components was comparing and contrasting Obama's policy initiatives versus Bush II. There was no doubt in my mind after analyzing Obama's FP directives that he was going to be much more aggressive than George Bush.
Obviously you weren't paying attention.

He is a dove. He protects those that need, thus the airstrike's on Libya and then he allowed the Libyian people to handle their own matters. If that's a dove, I'll take it much more over the Hawk's lies that got us into Iraq.

I can provide you a link to the Council of Foreign Relations that has a great synopsis of Obama and Foreign Policy through his time as a Senator up until the 2008 campaigns regarding Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.
He never preached about being a dove, ever. If you watched the debates in 2008, you would have understood that Obama was going to be aggressive in Afghanistan as he argued for more troop allocation over there from Iraq.
You're just wrong.

"I understand that President Musharraf has his own challenges," Obama said, "but let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al Qaeda leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will."

Obama is the biggest joke ever except there's nothing funny about him. It's more like this media made messiah rock star really believed in this Utopian society and had all these blind followers only to have it crash and burn to the ground just as fast as it was created.
Obama is a burnt turd and 2012 he’ll be scoop up dumped out and be a bad example of every possible abuse of government power imaginable. Then it’ll be time to reverse course and spent the next 10 years trying to repair the damage he and these left wing Moonbats have left in their wake.

You miss my point; he claimed to be anti-war anti-violent President when it came to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. He ran his campaign on peace and negotiation, not escalation nor troop expansion in Afghanistan and Iraq.
It you look at all the promises and claims he made during his campaign about how he would conduct his foreign affairs policy he’s done the exact opposite. So the success he lauds upon himself should be saved for Bush because all that happened in Iraq that was a success was from Bush’s policies. He’s just continued to expand on them so he lied to all the left wing loons that he’d immediately withdraw troops from Iraq and made false promises about getting the troops out of Afghanistan.
Musharraf and the Pakistan government haven’t helped with effort in Afghanistan that’s clear. That’s another issue onto its self. I’m speaking to the anti-war crowd that voted for him because he made unrealistic promises about what he could deliver as far as peace and stability not just in Afghanistan and Iraq but in the Middle Eat as a whole.
It’s yet to been seen what kind of governments evolve in Egypt, Libya and Syria. It could end up in extremist’s hands and the situation could end up being far worse than it was before Obama came into office.

Using Iraq as an example of Bush's policy success, is like using Obamacare to illustrate Obama's policy success.
Both fail miserably.

Do you actually believe what you are typing? You must suffer from memory loss, because obviously you never listened to Obama during the 2008 campaign or took a look at his policy outline.
Re-distribution of troops from Iraq to Afghanistan was always a part of his foreign policy. He always believed that Afghanistan was the central component to the GWOT and advocated the surge there. You seem to be the only one surprised by this. Did you miss all the publications and debates that highlighted that point? Furthermore, democracy promotion in the Arab world (in particular N. Africa) was a central to his foreign policy. The Libya situation exemplifies that to a T.
It will be dozens to hundreds of years before sound political judgment can be made re: democracy in the Arab world. What can be said that Obama kept true to his word for an expanded US role in such matters. Like you said -- for better or worse.
Obama's views on foreign policy are very close to philosopher Reinhold Niebuhr's and even share peculiarities with other realists like Morgenthau and Carr. Apparently he himself is a fan of Niebuhr, and it comes through in how he has talked about foreign affairs. As Req has stated over and over, none of this was hidden when he was running for office. The record is there, too, but I am too lazy to present. However, if you want to know how Obama views the world through a statesman's eye, and want it all in one spot, then read his Nobel Peace Prize (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/remarks-president-acceptance-nobel-peace-prize) speech. It is one of his finer speeches, in my opinion.

WOW! That is an incredible speech!
Looking back on his presidency so far, I would rate it good if not for the Health Care boondoggle. He was left with an economy in never ending downward spiral and two wars. He is ending both wars which is exactly what he said he would do and why I voted for him.
