I'm not sure what damage he would seek to control. There's no apology needed even if he requested a trade. We're running a very conservative offense that isn't utilizing his talents as well as we know they can be utilized. He's in a contract year. This offense is literally costing him money.

The fans aren't entitled to anything. I'm not sure why people feel entitled. Every guy has to try and protect their livelihood. If the team is trying to trade guys to S4L (which is not something I have a problem with at all), its not the best environment for short term success. He's not going to sit by idly when his market value is being destroyed. That's not rational. There's nothing to apologize about even if he did request a trade. It was a rational request if it was in fact made. I'm sad for Eddie that it didn't get worked out for him.

Well he is basically denying asking for a trade and saying it was a false rumor. I get he might of had rational reasons for asking for one. But it is a full on denial by Eddie.

I'm with SoCal... I don't think he'd need to apologize.

Hence, I don't think he'd need to lie. He could play out his last few games here and move on.

Beyond that, I would assume if he did request a trade... this would be easy enough to trace. I doubt he and his agent would go through those motions... and then deny it publicly. Seems like the club and some of the in-the-know media might be able to call him on that if they wanted.

Bottom line is, you don't know. To say it's damage control is an opinion, and those generally don't equate to fact around here.

However, I'm all ears if someone has some concrete proof that he's lying. Would be interesting to read...

Why would anyone trade for Eddie Royal.

You can find an Eddie Royal on the street.

IMO, that's unduly harsh. I think its clear he has talent. Be it that they used him in the slot (which didnt fit), or the scheme, or the QB difference or some combination of reasons, the last couple years, they haven't been able to harness his ability in the way Shanny was able to in 2008. He's obviously a good player, albeit with some concentration issues of dropping passes occasionally when he tries to think of going upfield before he has secured the ball.

He's definitely much more than any off the street WR, Bob.

I don't get upset if players want a different team. As long as they play hard no matter what I will be happy. A guy like Royal who is quick and small has a good chance to break free when Tebow scrambles. Once dback are looking back at QB good things can happen.

I see it like this either Tebow wins, or he gets injured. I really don't see him just getting stopped. He's going to get the Broncos lots of first downs and scoring chances as long as his legs are working.

Does it really matter considering Tim and Willis will be getting 70-80 touches between them a game??? Oh how JC would've loved that.

Vic Lombardi said that Eddie told him, he didn't request a trade.

I bet Eddie's agent saw an opportunity for a possible long term deal and wanted to test the water.

He actually may get more touches. If Tebow can't accurately sling it downfield, he may be at least able to get it to the slot receiver...

The fans are the paying customers. Even doing nothing but watching games on tv ends up being the leading factor in the amount of money that NFL brings in. Players get a big cut of that money. Positive customer relations is always a good thing.

Didn't like half the board want to trade the guy, why does it matter exactly if he requested it? He posted it on Facebook people. It's not a big deal unless he tweets it or Schefter tweets it or something. Or so the kids tell me. I am still trying to figure out these interwebs, it's an awfully confusing and serious place. ;D

No. He told his agent to and the agent did, thus Eddie "didn't."

I'd love for Eddie to turn into something big out of this though. He has every opportunity to make something of this.

This might have been taken completely serious but every word I read knew it was coming from SoCalBronco who demands that Bowlen, the man who owns the team, sell it to someone who will spend. Hey SoCal, last time I looked, you are a fan and you aren't titled to anything either. :yayaya:
