View Full Version : Did Elway pull the "Tebow Trigger"?

Pure speculation:

If you have the game on DVR, check out the CBS half time show, when they come back from commercial Sharpe is looking off camera, like he's looking at a producer or something and nods his head. They pan to J.B. who talks for a second about the game then Shannon chimes in like he has something to say, and talks about how "the Broncos don't need a spark, they need a forest fire, I wouldn't be suprised to see Tebow start the 2nd half."

Maybe it was an educated guess, maybe he knew from being so close to the Broncos just how short Orton's leash was? Heck, maybe he and Elway were texting before the half...

I'm wondering if it was Elway who pulled the trigger on this thing, and had had enough, rather than Fox making the decision.

It just seems like Sharpe has never been too Pro-Tebow, and I was suprised he brought it up when he did.

Did you watch the game? If you don't yank Orton then you never do.

I was suprised by Tebow starting the second half. I kinda thought that he'd start after the bye week. The Broncos weren't going to win this game with Orton so it made more sense to me to bench Orton after the bye and give Tebow the bye to prep.

I seriously doubt Elway told Fox to start Tebow. I'm sure Fox just thought a change was necessary due to the Orton suckage.

I'm pretty sure a vet coach is not going to come into a situation in which the rookie, no experience GM has even the possibility of making game day decisions. Stupid thread.

6/13 for 34 yards and a pick at home was simply too pathetic to accept.

Orton pulled the Tebow trigger.

If you don't think Elway has the ability to make game day decision then why is he in the coaches booth during the games, rather than in a nice suite, just sitting back and enjoying the game?

Orton pulled the Tebow trigger.

He said in the post game interviews that he always supports his team mates. Maybe that's what he did in the first half. Took one for Timmy.

I think it's possible the order came from upstairs. I will also say the stadium emptied out some before Tebow's last drive.

Probably because he's the GM and thus can go wherever the **** he wants. Wouldn't you sit in the coaches booth too, if you could?

But no, he probably shouldn't be there. He probably shouldn't be an NFL GM either, but here we are.

From what I hear its been elway, but there are quotes to say otherwise. I dont think my sources are right, but who knows.

But, remember, we're dealing with the crappy practice QB. maybe they wanted a current tryout to analyze over the bye.

Could you imagine the sheet storm Fox and Elway would have gone through during the bye if they hadn't played Tebow with Orton playing so bad?

Makes me wonder if they had this planned.

Everybody loves our draft class so far and for good reason. They are showing a lot of potential. His FA acquisitions seem to be working out thus far as well. Most of the bitching has to do with him not doing more good things instead of the usual bitching about failing entirely (as we have grown so used to).

Seems to me he's right where he should be.

orton those last two drives of his was something to behold. You could almost see it hit him that he could have been enjoying Miami with his newborn baby, and now he was going to have to spend the rest of the year sitting on the bench in a town that hated his guts.

The hiring of Fox is the one that is sticking in my craw the most right now. After watching five games I can honestly say I really can't stand Foxball...

The defense is improving, the OL is improving, and assistants are getting to do their jobs. That is "Foxball".

If you don't low how the offense is being ran that isn't on Fox, he's a defensive minded HC who is all about delegating to his assistants. Mike McCoy is the one not getting it done at OC.

Now we'll see how he does with a more dynamic weapon at QB. He didn't exactly impress me going with a fade to Lloyd on the game tying 2 point attempt though. How do you not use the 245 pound bull at QB straight up the back of either OG, they had both been whipping their assignments repeatedly since Tebow stepped on the field.

That or go power, Larsen to bust the hole open, McGahee to follow, Tebow behind him to give the extra "push" to the pile needed to finish it.

Passing for the 2 point conversion with the horses we've got in the backfield is asking to look stupid.

I agree with you in theory, but SD had changed up their defenses and stacked the line with defenders fully expecting a Tebow run.

The play to Lloyd was a good one, Caison just made a great play by jamming the ball out of his hands.

Champ made a similar play on Jackson and we call him a pro bowler.

I 100% agree, especially given that Tebow's previous passes were not spot-on perfect.

Orton pulled the Tebow trigger.

And Weddle dropped an sure INT on that last drive that was a complete disaster and directly led to seeing how a professional QB runs the 2 min drill.
Orton took no time off the clock and allowed Rivers to pick on the young safety

What happend to all the Orton fans who said all he needed was a running game and defense?

Orton had a running game that produced over 70 yards in the first half alone. His defense kept the score respectable despite multiple 3 and outs, right up until halftime. His defense doubled the offensive point production for the first half. And yet there were still people blaming the defense at halftime. Oh, and blaming the "pissy" fans.

meh, I was wrong. I'm more than willing to admit it. He got some support and actually looked worse.

I don't expect a very dynamic passing game from anyone anymore though, the offense is sadly predictable. Welcome to Reeves era 2.0
