View Full Version : If Orton is signed long term...

So, pure speculation, but anyone want to take a wager on how well this board would react if Orton is signed to a long term deal here?

Anarchy. Considering that they don't seem impressed with Tebow, my current guess is that none of the three QBs on our roster are back next year.

I'd use my authentic #7 Elway jersey for archery practice.

All that being said, I actually think this would be a step towards a future. It would explain why on earth we are starting a journeyman QB utterly incapable of any flashes of brilliance in the last year of his contract in a hopeless "rebuilding" season while we have a #1 draft pick sitting on the pine. At least it would be a decision. Whether it is a good decision is another matter.

After the headache this staff is already going through over Tebow and Orton, you really think they'd want to re-create that situation with an even newer, even shinier young QB? You think Orton would even waste a second considering a simple extension at this point in his career, much less after what he's already gone through here?

There's no way in Hell that would ever happen.

Pretty much the reasons I listed in my first paragraph. Because it doesn't make any kind of logical sense.

If they draft one of the top QBs, Orton's not going to wanna sit around while he's still actually known as a starting QB and play the whipping boy for another year or two while all the fans want to see the young kid.

If Orton's playing for Denver beyond this season it will be because they signed him to an actual multi-year contract, which he wants. If they do this for Orton, they aren't going to be taking anybody from the top of the draft to do the same with.

Just think about it; it's idiotic.

Orton is a Bronco today because he didn't want to give up the money. You are assuming teams out there will give Orton a multi-year deal. If the Broncos get Luck, don't be surprised if Orton is brought back at decent money for a year +. He knows the offense, the team likes him, and would be a serviceable backup to Luck one day.

I don't think this scenario makes sense. Orton is going to want a long-term deal (just like he wanted from Miami) and if they draft Luck/Jones/MrX, that won't make sense.

Unless you believe that Orton can take a 1 year deal at a low rate or move to Canada. In that case, I suppose it is plausible.

If Orton finishes the season without tebow taking a snap. I can see Orton being resigned to a 3 year deal before the draft if we go 6-10 this season.

If we do take a QB, that QB will sit until Orton fails again the 1st few games and they put the rookie in (not tebow). We will be trading tebow or he will be let go after this season if he does not start this season.

ah chicks, we are no different than you guys, we like eye candy too. Fewer calories that way. But truth is, as attractive as Eric is, he's like a baby in comparison to me, it's not truly lust, more like artistic appreciation ( like for Michelangelo's David or something).

I do like to watch him play because he is a good player and he genuinely looks like he's having fun. I love players like that. He also appears to be a decent human being so that's a nice change from the women beating asshat types.

I also like Dawkins when he gets all pumped. I enjoy watching other players that look like they are having fun (as long as it is not in stomping on our team). Jared Allen has always amused me and now I feel okay him being a Viking now and all. He smiles like crazy when he stomps QBs and I looove that. Anyway, Eric brings that enthusiasm and its contagious.

As for killing your chances, hardly, if anything he got those girls warmed up and they would probably have been easy pickings depending on your approach. ;D
