So what to do? To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions. In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic.

Wow, libs are just letting all hang out, aren't they.

Still touchy about that, eh?

That's no surprise.

Nah, power hungry people just believe it:

You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier.

If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier... [Bush laughs out loud, audience laughs out loud] ...just so long as I'm the dictator [more laughter].

Dealing with Congress is a matter of give and take. The president doesn't get everything he wants, the Congress doesn't get everything they want. But we're finding good common ground. A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it.

It's sort of funny, isn't it.

Only now, with people waking up do they see what is really there. This isn't a "Conservative v. Liberal" issue. This is an issue of that while we were asleep, this country was sold out from under us.

One of the major tenants of Communism is that you are left with two choices. A & B. That's the end result of Capitalism. Look at the cellphone market for example. You have/had a potential AT&T/T-mobile merger. Your options, basically are AT&Tmobile & VZ. (Sprint is like Ron Paul, it only works in small communities where the infrastructure is there.)

Both of those companies are going to use legislation and laws to stop any new competition from joining the fray.

It's the same thing with the political class in this country.

It sucks, but it's true. The Middle class doesn't have any way to compete besides removing themselves from the process and starting something new/over.

I personally think that we need to split the country into 5 regions/mega states and allow philosophies to govern there.

A one sized fits all solution is not going to cut it. I think that in some ways, it's the evolution of the death of a super-power.
