Thought he was dramatically better last week and regressed quite a bit today, personally.

Yeah he did very good last week, but he was burnt several times today, I think the Titans were going after him and Wilhite as much as possible

2 of the longest passing plays of the season (to Simpson and the Stevens this week) were his fault....

hopefully Irving can get up to speed. Teams are going to abuse him from now on in coverage.

According to OSHA, it has been 29 days since the last job site injury related to a wayward Mays. This is supposedly good news, but it just feels like a ticking time bomb to me. The longer we go on without a friendly fire accident, the more likely one will happen.

This. I'm willing to give him a chance this year to see if he can improve his consistency, but I have a suspicion that he's always going to be hit and miss.

As long as he has no coverage responsibilities he will be ok. He is soooooooo slow and is a huge liability on the field unless he has the play coming straight to him. Then its literally hit or miss.

When I saw Mays in pass coverage yesterday, I cringed. Brought back a lot of memories of him getting burned in coverage at NDSU.

He is not meant for that. He is fantastic on rush downs.

Wouldn't you think just a little bit of why we are better against the run (a lot better!!) this year is because of Joe Mays. Contrast that with the way too soft underbelly our defense has had since, er, we lost Al Wilson.

If Mays could become the next London Fletcher (5'10", 245 lbs) that would be nice.

Agree 100%. I think he is turning into a great player for us. I can't wait until we get the whole D back healthy for a couple game stretch. We might even be somewhat formidable.

Mays is what he is. If he gets a clear shot at you, it's gonna be a good one. If he has to make a play on Jermichael Finley in space, not so much. I'd love for this team to get deep enough defensively, to only bring Mays in on 3rd and short, 4th and short, and goaline packages. That being said, he's played pretty well for us.

Ayers has been really solid (especially in run support) the past two weeks. GB will be a real test for him, and the young defense in general.

It's good to know he'd catch a grenade for you all...but you wouldn't do the same...

working out with dawk isn't a bad idea.

I agree, working with Dawk is a great thing. Problem I have is he definitely hit the weights hard which has slowed him down even more. His lateral movement is laughable. He is good at running straight between the tackles. If he has to cover someone or has to try and blow up and outside run or screen fogetaboutit. He won't be starting this time next year if we want to get better.

Mays had 5 tackles and 2 assists last game behind Woodyard and Wilhite with 6-3 and 6-0 respectively. He made some nice plays. That pass play he missed on was busted yeah..but on the Titans side. Hasslebeck said a reciever was in the wrong place and caused a pick on our defenders. So I dunno if I would lay that all on him... tight ends have made plays on Champ as well. He may not be Al freaking Wilson...but hes doing alright and seems to be improving like Vegas says.

Mays has been solid overall so far. I wouldn't say he's a long-term answer at the position, but he's not been bad either.

He's a typical Eagles MLB. Good going downhill between the tackles.
