Vine
09-25-2011, 01:42 PM
Hey vine -- now would you like those 3 points?

No. It didn't work out this time, but it doesn't not change how I feel about it.

RaiderH8r
09-25-2011, 01:42 PM
KO needs to lead this team now or GTFO. Take this ball and get down the field Orton or get the F out. Period. If KO can't get this team in position for a FG on this drive he needs to get the seat.

Well you don't try to run the ball when you can't either. Or if that is what you want to do, then put the best runner you have on your team in the game. Yeah, Tebow.

I love how that's Orton's fault. Not.

I wouldn't say that's Ortons fault specifically, but his failure to lead us to a TD on numerous RZ plays, taking sacks, not being able to make a play, dead end drives, etc.... those are Ortons fault. He's uninspiring to say the least. Not the guy to lead this team, he's a 3 and out waiting to happen.

how many balls thrown at the receivers feet,
how many balls thrown to locking onto his primary WR,
how many dumb ass ints,

You can't blame them, we have a young team that we're hoping might go somewhere in a few years and for some reason rather than starting our exciting young QB prospect and seeing what he's got we're persevering with a guy who is not a good QB and has no future here.

What happened to Tebow on the goalline? Last year he scored pretty much every time he touched the ball inside the 5. Awful, awful call.

At this point I'd rather not see Tebow unless he's starting. If he comes in and puts points on the board to dress up KO's suck in the red zone, it likely only serves to keep Orton as the starter longer.

Our defense manages to hold a home team that just beat Baltimore with 26 points the previous week to 17.. and we lose.

14 points won't win very many games.

"But our run game sucked!" Yes, and so did the Titans. Difference: Hassleback was a gamer and did what he needed to do to win the game. Orton did not. He is not a gamer. When it goes down to the the line, Orton has absolutely no fire or heightened level of play. He has a static level of mediocre that is there throughout the game, from start to finish.

I say it is Orton's fault because we can't run any play action boot leg to keep back side D from crashing on our dive plays. It is Orton's fault because he is captain checkdown and never takes a shot so D's just roll up tight with safeties. It is Orton's fault because even the coaching staff clearly understands that they'd rather run draw plays in the 2 minute drill than give the ball to Orton to go win it. Orton CAN NOT WIN A GAME. He is the anti-clutch, pocket sloth, check down king, soft ass, fetal positioning, indifferent peckerwood stank slog dumb ass QB of this club. Bench him, trade him, play Tebow and let's either win with the kid, lose with the kid but at the very least figure out what we've got in the kid. Yea, a FG there and we're tied right now.

But, I get the frustration with Orton he's got to do a better job with that last throw.

Still, there were 10 other things that could have avoided him being in that situation.

How about our lead RB having more than 52 yards?

At least we stuck with the running game today. I think despite the low numbers, sticking to that plan kept it close.

Bummer game, but it doesn't change my opinion about things all that much.

The offense scored 14 points. Thats right. 14.

Orton threw for ~170 yards and had as many picks as he did TD's. Not to mention the other batted down passes. That's with the OL having a dang-near perfect game in pass pro.

Orton had an opportunity (these first few games), and culminating today, he has failed miserably. He has flat out failed. It does nobody any good for him to be starting.

Even if we have to "pre-season" it with Tebow, at least we will be growing as a football team. This team is not growing right now. The defense is, but the Offense is imploding.

Though, its finally nice to have a real RB on our team in Willis McGahee. Imagine what we could do if our QB, any QB would actually throw the ball down the field.

I particularly liked the way Cassius Vaughan stood there in the middle of the field watching the play develop right in front of him, with number 88 running right down the middle. 60 yards on that one. Knowing that, there is not a future for Orton in Denver. He's just taking up space. When a QB has time and has the ball tipped at the line it is his fault. A QB is responsible for either finding a passing lane or arcing the ball high enough not to get tipped.

This is a fair point. While tips happen, a QB should be able to arc it over the extended arm (Hasselbeck did this in the first half in order to complete a pass). I'm not going to entirely blame Orton for the tipped INT, but I think the bigger issue is that for whatever reason, he seems not to come through in the clutch moments. It simply doesn't end up well, regardless of the reason on an individual week to week basis. Even last week on the last drive he had a 3rd down which resulted in an incomplete pass based on a poor throw giving Cincinnati a chance.

It's one thing or another each week, but the theme on the last drive is the same. It doesnt get done.
