"Well, it just shows the weak, dark, underside of America," he said. "We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s, that’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. “Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.” You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water."

Morgan Freeman is a moron then, because the "tea party" is no more "racist" than anything or anyone else..

Freeman probably remembers the racist placards carried by the TP, what other party shows such overt racism?
Putting those signs away doesn't change who they are. Not all are racist by any means, but enough to send their message.

I don't even know what the Tea Party is anymore. They have people at both extremes on almost every issue. It's become a catch-all for everybody that's anti-Obama instead of a party with libertarian domestic policies and Non-interventionist foreign policies.

To put this another way...as bad as the Bush/Congress deficits were in the oughts, Obama and the Democrats have increased the yealy deficit by 1 trillion dollars from 06 to now.
2005 - yearly deficit .3 trillion dollars
We see this number jump significantly in 2006 once Democrats regain control of congress to a 1.4 trillion yearly deficit in 2010.
All of them Baby Boomers

except the truth is more like:
The latest posting by the Treasury Department shows the national debt (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/275327/most-rapid-increase-debt-under-any-us-president-andrew-stiles#) has now increased $4 trillion (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/275327/most-rapid-increase-debt-under-any-us-president-andrew-stiles#) on President Obama’s watch.
The debt was $10.626 trillion on the day Mr. Obama took office. The latest calculation from Treasury shows the debt has now hit $14.639 trillion.
It’s the most rapid increase in the debt under any U.S. president.
The national debt (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/275327/most-rapid-increase-debt-under-any-us-president-andrew-stiles#) increased $4.9 trillion during the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush. The debt now is rising at a pace to surpass that amount during Mr. Obama’s four-year term.

Two points: 1)Congress is more responsible for the debt, and 2)it's increasing too much under all those Presidents. Even 30% is too much in less than a decade. Also, I think the increase under Obama is a lot higher. Adding 5 trillion to 10 trillion equals 50%.
Garcia Bronco
09-27-2011, 07:12 AM
Notice he had to present it as a percentage and not by the actually dollar amount. LOL.
It ain't the percentage that matters here. It's the dollar amount.

Yeah that's true. Obama's 50% increase is more expensive than Reagan's, GHW Bush's, and Clinton's increases combined.

Yep...I spent 75 percent of a dollar on a cup of coffee today, but spent 35 percent of my gross salary on federal income tax. The percentage on that cup of coffee was unreal.

The problem with the deficit numbers is that the economy has tanked, and unemployment is up so revenue is down by billions....this has happened during both Bush and Obama's term.
Also the dollar amount of the deficit being attributed to Obama doesn't account for the dollars spent by Bush that continues to this day.
You have to look at actual policies that increased spending, not how much came due during a specific year.

Time to put a VAT on imports in order to restore jobs we lost and remove the benefit our own corporations get from exploiting the misery of people abroad for their own profit. We can't control the world, but we can control our own markets. We should also start going after corporations hiding profits offshore. Simply do what the rest of the world does; Make it advantageous for companies to keep jobs at home by putting a gate keeper on our markets.

Germans don't have a huge trade deficit and an economy that thrives on consumer spending as much as the USA though. What makes you think though that VAT won't add to inflation. Explain to me how it won't in the USA, not Germany.

From my understanding a VAT is a tax on good where a tax gets added at each stage of the products path to the consumer. Sounds like a nightmare to me and almost any middle of the road to conservative person IMO.

Talk about having controls over winners and losers...there are many tiers in the VAT to be able to reward political allies and punish political enemies.
These people arent interested in having a thriving economy, they're interested in 'fundamental transformation', which the Obama administration never defined.
That should be a campaign focus for the repubs...force Obama to define what 'fundamental transformation' means.

Very simple. American companies that build their products in America and create American jobs get huge tax breaks. VAT doesn't apply. Those companies that move manufacturing and jobs offshore thinking they will get the same old tax breaks (like they do now) will get nailed with the VAT.
