The Times Atlas of the World exaggerated the rate of Greenland's ice loss in its thirteenth edition last week, scientists said on Monday.

The atlas, published by HarperCollins, showed that Greenland lost 15 percent of its ice cover over the past 12 years, based on information from the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Colorado in the United States.

They don't fix their data, LA.

Do you get some sort of kickback from Exxon or Chevron for disseminating this sort of junk science on Internet forums?

If not, then what's in it for you?

This doesn't mean global warming not happening, it just proves people trying to exploit the fear, make it worst then it is, etc etc. In the end doing this just gives the deniers fuel to fight with. Looks like the science is not in agreement with you on this one LABF they clearly say the atlas is way off.

I'm not smart enough to figure out if global warming is real or not. I'm in the camp that believes either way we can't do much about it. China will keep putting out more co2 so even if we cut it won't matter much with rampant growth in India and China. I would rather see the US spend the money of flood walls, sea walls, ways to grow crops in a warmer world etc etc.

The Earth could be warming because of man but one good volcano can change things in a hurry so I don't believe the predictions. They can't account for things like that which are bound to happen. In the late 1880's we had some big ones that really cooled the Earth for a couple seasons.

So I am sure Greenland has lost some ice, but the Atlas over stated it, and really no one can show a model where the world puts out less co2 just because America used crappy light bulbs. By the way those light blub prices are now through the roof. Turns out they need rare earth metals which is also through the roof because of our friend China. Not that we couldn't produce those metals, we just closed all the mines because our govt makes it too hard to mine in our country.

Tell me this LABF. If all American drove hybrids, and Obama got his cap and trade on co2 through like he originally wanted, do you think that would cool the Earth?

Also does anyone see Rush's song Red Barchetta coming true someday.

The Atlas made a mistake.

Interestingly, the Atlas is one of Murdoch's properties.

'Course, the deniers seize on anything so the handful of them left can have a little circle jerk...

Actually I believe in global warming. Just not their brand of global warming. My brand has real science in it. Example, the last 10,000 years have been the most "stable" earth's climate has ever been over the last 100,000 years.

By what evidence do you claim to know that?

Now, what has happened to the climate system in the last 100 or so years of your remarkable stability?

Go on...

PS - You do realize that in the period of the Industrial Revolution (the last 150 years or so) the global population has increased nearly sixfold...

And in that 150 years the average temp. has gone up 1 degree. Keep trying.

Why the eff do I have to do your effing research. Or do you really want me to school you like the last time?

Here's the deal. That's how science works. People aren't going to take your word on it.

But...but...but....if Rush or "_____________" (fill in the blank with the name of your favorite purveyor of junk science on Exxon's payroll) said it, then it must be true! :D

You do realize that "1 degree" is quite significant.

Hunh? The only subjects you're able to school others upon are mouth-breathing and knuckle-dragging.
