Nice job by Fox and Co. of pulling a win out of a situation where you're missing 5 or more of your best players. We were short-handed in a major way, and managed to get a W.

Not a pretty win, but it's a win.

Sorry for you haters. You'll get another chance to root for Kyle and Co. to fail next week. :)

The defense is really looking up, I know this wasn't a good offense we faced but without our best DT (Warren), our best DE (Dumervil), our most proven LB (Williams) and our best DB (Bailey) we still managed to put out a decent effort.
72 yards rushing, 3.6 yards per attempt, 1/13 in 3rd and 4th down situations.

We all saw that there are certainly still shortcomings, Hunter provides 0 pass rush, Mays is a huge liability in coverage, both CBs have some flaws in their game - but with those injuries, it was impressive that we managed to stay in the game, credit certainly goes to Fox and Allen for that.

Yep, ran in a straight line to the QB.

That is the danger of a bootleg, to sell it the offensive line must block in the direction of the fake which leaves an unblocked defender on the backside if he does not bite on the fake. Ayers didn't bite on the fake for a second and went straight for the QB knowing that if it was a run that way he couldn't do anything anyway - it was a heads up play.

Yep without Champ, Doom, D.J. Marcus Thomas and Ty Warren on D was a particularly reassuring showing. Thought we'd get torched without Champ in there. Vaughn while not realy solid yet is getting invaluable experience and is making some plays.

Goodman is next to worthless especially if any tackling is required in his vacinity!

But still we somehow held up. Dawkins is a pure stud!

Von is going to be awesome but is still raw in space when not rushing the passer. Thais to be expected with no off season and OTAs and still a rookie.

He needs to pursue a little more vigorously when he feels the play has moved away from him but that will all gel and come together soon enough. When Doom is back healthy the show will really start in ernest.

I'm liking what I'm seeing with our D so far. No doubt we've given up some bad plays, but the usual talk of having an aggressive defense has actually come to fruition. This defense so far seems to be coming up big in pressure situations. We held the Bengals to 1 for 13 on 3rd/4th today. That is a recipe to win a lot of games.

I watched the game again tonight (gotta savor the wins), mostly watching Von. He spent much more of the game up on the line this week. What really impresses me with him, is how many plays he disrupts, even if he doesn't make the stop. Saw a few plays where he just drives his man into the backfield, disrupting the runner, and allowing someone else to make the tackle. I also noticed that opposing offenses are giving him a lot of respect already. When the Bengals went to the hurry up, they did so when Von came off, not allowing him to sub back in. Could be coincidence, but it didn't seem that way.

Feels great to get a win today. Go Broncos! And get healthy.

Vaughn was #41 right? He got ABUSED in the second half.

For the situation he found himself in, he did great. Still a long ways to go, but I was impressed.

It really relies on the weak side contain philosophy and the player being disciplined enough when he reads his keys. Ball going away always has a player to take away the counter and set the edge. However, a LOT of NFL DE's chase too hard to the away actions when they truly should have a backside contain.

At least Ayers had a good read and did his job on that play. However, that was one play and the rest still need to be evaluated.

I still wish we'd use Von better. Like have him play a rover roll at times and not just line up on the end when he's rushing.
Also, our defense was awful in the 2nd half. And to the Bengals for crying out loud.

It is NOT that simple.

The defense was going to be a work in progress before ALL the injuries. After the injuries, its a major Cluster****. Very few teams have any real depth anymore, especially at CB. Losing Champ and not having a dual threat Pass Rush just allowed CIN to key on matchups that suddenly were in their favor. DEN had to play with a reduced set of personnel and that also makes simplifying the plan to reduce mistakes a major need. Also, it means softening the coverages to stop a big play from happening.

I do not like it, but the alternative is much worse. In the end, they got the job done. I hated watching it, because it was the opposite of entertaining. However, you can never really complain about getting the W at the end of the day. Oh, wait we are on the OMANE right LOL

Not gonna argue that. Giving Dalton a 107 QB rating in his first full game doesn't make me feel great...

Ok, but Cinci was 1/11 on 3rd down and with Denver in the lead, the last 3 drives for cinci totaled 20 playes, 67 yards and no points. Something is different.

It was a solid kind of win. Going -2 in turnovers and still put up 24 points shows a little something.

I wonder if they'll stick to the run/pass ratio they did this game.

(and now Denver already is -4 in turnovers, that's not good).

And quite a few conversions were due to stupid penalties. I mean obviously that reflects poorly on the team, but can be corrected.
