Ron Paul from 1998 talking about Iraq, Bin Laden. Yeah "crazy Ron" it's as if he had a crystal ball.

I challenge peacepipe and thedave to watch this video. It's only 10 minutes. Tell me afterwards if you think he's crazy.

Ron has a lot of good ideas, he also has a lot of bad ones.

He isn't going to get the nomination.

And your point is, exactly what? The man has a message that addresses the issues we face moreso than any of the status-quo out there. He has the most valid stances on the most important issues, barnone.

Just wondering so I can mention it next time you try to trash the one candidate who actually has some integrity.

Validity is a matter of your own opinion.

My point is that he has been a Representative for a long time, with a history of introducing bills and legislation that hardly get any support (co-authors, co-signers) and rarely get out of committee.

His message has been there for years, with little support from his "party" or others.

How do you expect a guy who doesn't effectively work with his peers now to be able to be effective as POTUS?

Gotta start somewhere. I'm not gonna knock the guy just because his peers (who have a pretty low approval rate) may not support his ideas. I support spreading his message, especially if it enters the public discourse.

Not sure how this answers anything. Good luck though.

i don't think i have anything to answer to you regarding my support of ron paul. the man has done a hell of a lot more to change our obviously broken system than anyone else out there.

again - can any of you critics name anyone out there who has any better ideas?

Yes, anyone who disagrees with the notion that going to a gold standard and dissolving our central banking system is the way to financial prosperity in the 21st century.

Or... everyone else

If you cannot answer a basic question on why you think he could be effective, I'm not sure you are much of a supporter of Ron Paul anyways.

I'm sure you are aware of Ron's voting record in Congress. How often do you think he would use the veto as President? How often do you think he would be overridden?
I'm asking serious questions because it's one thing to have an idea on paper, but to have it implemented is another.

Writing all the legislation in the world means nothing when it doesn't get support on a partisan or bipartisan basis.

As I've said before, he has some great ideas -- unfortunately, he has a lot of "out there" ideas that just don't have place in reality.

Like I said, you gotta start somewhere. A transition to a Paul presidency may be initially difficult with a Congress who doesn't support him, but I'd rather a man with his platform be President than that of Obama/Perry/etc. be in office. I have more faith in his ideas and those who support him, and those who will be persuaded to support him, than 4 more years of spend 'n' pretend via Obama/Perry/etc.

The fact that our corrupt Congress and two-party system (I'm not counting Paul as part of the status-quo GOP) may not support him is not reason enough to write him off.

Who can you name that has better ideas in this election? And don't give me a cop-out answer like TheDave's "Anyone but who doesn't agree with Ron Paul". We've been there for years, done that, and it's not working.

Everyone wants things to get better, but God forbid anyone actually propose some valid changes to the way we do things in this country.

Yep, suuuuure....we'll be better off supporting the same Dem./Repub. hacks who have steered this country into the mess we're in. But mysteriously, no one wants to specifically name the Dem./Repub. hack that they support. But they'll sure crap all over someone like Ron Paul or Ralph Nader who actually goes out on a limb with an idea how to fix things.

You know how people who suffer abuse often settle and seek out abuse? That's how I see supporters of the "status quo". Anything "different" is automatically "bad", meanwhile the beatings, rape and escalation of taxation is welcomed. Oh, they talk about how they want someone to love them, but they always reject it.

From working in sales, marketing, IT, training, etc etc - across multiple industries (AG, IT, Corrections, machinery, cable manufacturers, food manufacturers, etc etc) - This article I cited really is true. I can't tell you how many times "stay the course" is voted - and then they wonder why they lose marketshare - or they wake up and realize how far behind they are.

People would rather accept misery, when they are comfortable with it. One thing i've learned is that, until the pain of the status quo, exceeds the pain of change - things won't be done willingly by the majority of people.
